@altec197 ай бұрын
Why don’t Harley already upgrade the bikes at the factory before you buy them😆
@motorman8577 ай бұрын
Because they'll cost even more than they already do. I've owned over 20 new Harley's and never found a reason to upgrade anything on them. You can buy any H.D. touring bike and right out of the showroom they are ready for a cross country trip. Many people simply like to personalize their bikes and every accessory you could want is available.

@@motorman857 Have you ever considered buying a new Indian since you’ve owned over 20 new Harleys ?
@motorman8577 ай бұрын
@@altec19 Yes. I considered buying a Indian Vintage. But only after they started putting the Vintage on the same frame as the Springfield in 2021. Prior to that, the Vintage had a very long wheelbase and rake. In 2021 they got it right and then stopped making it. What kept me from buying was the nearest dealer is 65 miles away and they don't pick up and return the bike when service is needed as Harley does.

Lovely bike, but I'm with the other commenters who've no doubt already pointed out that $26k is still exorbitant in today's market, and that's putting things mildly. With Harley's decision not to sell their new middle-weights on the American market and their discontinuation of the 883, the brand will remain untouchable to those of us who aren't rolling in dough or comfortably retired. It's a genuine shame.

@@motorman857 - Fair enough, and thanks for the response. I should've more heavily emphasized the financial issue with Harley's in general. Yes, you can get a used Harley with (relatively) low mileage at a price that isn't totally bonkers in that segment, but the fact remains that Harley isn't a brand that's friendly to non-affluent riders. They do hold their value, and they're certainly wonderful machines, but the bang-for-the-buck just isn't there. I'd love to have a Harley in my garage, but it's difficult to justify what I'd likely be spending, and I'm a 31 year old middle-class dude without a family. All of that said, keep up the quality content!

I'll never shop for a harley from a dealership again. I went in ready to buy a bike for msrp, something that hadn't sold and was weeks away from being reduced in price, and was willing to pay msrp or hopefully less since the salemen said "they will move mountains for a well qualified buyer". After going through all the back and forth on test drives and price comparison, he tried to come back with a contract for msrp + $4,200! I asked him to explain this and he just kept circling the "free tire" deal. Literally was talking to me like I was stupid. The entire experience was so predatory I just hope that people less inclined to ask questions don't get duped for too much money but it seems like the norm for harleys. Buy from an individual or a consignment shop, I'd avoid harley dealerships at all costs.
@motorman8577 ай бұрын
My local Kawasaki/Yamaha/Royal Enfield dealer quoted me 2K TO 4K over list on all their bikes. When I asked why, they said they couldn't make any money at MSRP. There are APRX. 700 H.D. dealers in the U.S. When I'm shopping for a new bike, I google all the dealers that have the bike and color I want then pick up the phone and call them with a out the door price I'm willing to pay. I have my credit card in hand for a deposit and inform them that I'm recording the call to ensure the price doesn't change when I show up to get the bike. This method saves a lot of wasted time and I always get the price I want. Mainly because I do my research ahead of time.

Sure they do. Many years ago I worked at a couple of car dealers. Many times a manager would put too much money in a used car just to make a deal on the new car. That used car would sit in the lot until a bonus was put on it and if that didn't work, they send it to an auction and lose money just to move it. These days with a quick changing market with cars or motorcycles, It happens quite a bit.

@@steveledbetter9579 I couldn't make sense of your last comment. I hope this helps. When car and motorcycle manufacturers couldn't get the parts needed to deliver new vehicles, the price of used cars and bikes went up due to demand. So, if you were selling a car or bike at that time, you could get top dollar. Sometimes you could get more for your vehicle than you paid for it when it was new. That period was a seller's market. Now that the new supply has caught up and surpassed demand, the used market prices dropped very quickly thus making this present time, a buyer's market.
