Hey! Just a comment to support you. As a child I grew up with Pokemon and I have good memories from collecting cards. But I grew up and eventually stopped. I recently watched one of your videos, a nice guide on how collecting again. Someone in the comments talked about completing the pokedex with cards and it motivated me to do the same. For each pokemon, I search for the card I find the most beautiful and so on. I agree with you, for the first generation, scarlet and violet cards are gorgeous. Thanks for your videos, you seem like a genuine, honest and passionate guy! I think I will stick around, just to enjoy the beauty of the cards and find the ones I would buy for my collection. I bought 3 of these at 29.99. You get $8 in promos and 11 packs. That's at least a $50 value. You said it, though. 7 of the packs are cheeks. Obsidian Lames has the charizards, but the hit rate was too favorable. Which is why the Zards are very low. S&V base actually has potential in the next cpl years, but rn it's a bad set. Last but not least is P Rift. I believe this set will sneak and creep it's way into popularity and value once the product gets low on supply. As an investor, I can see these boxes reselling for around $55-60 in a few years. So if you want to grab a few boxes to hold at $30, you will NEVER lose money when u can sell these for $4 a pack.

That's a good analysis. This box has received a lot of hate from many KZbinrs and Redditors but overall, it is a good product for collectors and investors alike. Whenever I find them at around 30$ I grab a box, just because the price/pack ratio is so good! Just remember to enjoy the hobby beside the investment approach, too. 😊

I think the scarlet and violet era will continue to grow and wake people up to how good it is. For $30, this may actually be THE investment play. It is compact. It comes with 11 packs. The packs aren’t horrible, and it comes with 7 promos, which are good promos actually. If I had room, I’d probably pick up a sealed case of this for $30 apiece.

I am a HUGE S&V fan, but I am mainly a collector. So to me, having this many amazing full arts in every set is a dream come true. And as you said, 30$ for 11 packs...that's the same price as with sub 100$ booster boxes, plus you get the promos. Happy collecting! 😊

@@JuliusCollects I would be mainly a collector, but to me, I can’t financially justify it lol. I was a collector back in 99. Have complete sets of base, jungle, fossil, and rocket. Fell off around the same time as everyone else, but I kept playing the games. My buddy got me back into it last year around November, and to scratch the collector itch, I master set-ed 151. Then I realized 1 unfortunate truth: if I start collecting other sets, I’ll be compelled to complete them, so I just decided on a happy medium. I would master set something every now and then to scratch that itch, and collect sealed, because I also get enjoyment from the boxes and knowing they will appreciate in value

That's a healthy approach to collecting and similar to how I would do it if I had to start over today. It's not wrong to invest at all, I just wish people would remember why they started in the first place - because they enjoyed the cards. And congrats to the 151 master set! Mine isn't finished yet as it is super hard to get the Pokemon Center exclusives in Europe (only the UK has a Pokemon Center website). I also love looking at my favorite boxed sets and actually display some of them in my office.

@@JuliusCollects oh man. That’s terrible. I had to pay for some of mine too. The EB games charmander comes to mind. I also missed out on the pokemon center squirtle, so I had to buy that one too. Thankfully we recently got the pokemon together promos here in the US, so that helped, but there are two cards I doubt I’ll ever get my hands on for it to be considered a true master set to me: the professor program voltorbs. I’m thinking about pretending they don’t exist lol. And good luck on yours too!

nice video. congrats to 500 subs and the Cleffa. that art looks amazing. also, the gameboy games you showed are nostalgic as hell. silver was actually my 1st ever new pokemon game. gen 1 games were 2nd handed (we didn't have much money back then) anyway, you metioned some of those sets are not that popular. why is that? i assume because of featured pokemon and art but some deeper analysis would make a cool video.

Thank you so much! Oh I LOVED the gen 1 & 2 Pokemon games! So much so that I played them again on an emulator on my phone when I went to university. Amazing times, 10/10 would do it again! 😁 Thanks for the suggestion, I will put this in the backlog! Short answer: Fewer ultra-rare "chase cards" and overall higher pull rates than other sets. Higher pull rates for cards = lower prices = less "collector's value"...or so...And some might argue it's because this makes them less interesting for "investors" and scalpers. I personally LOVE the 3 sets they included in this box and the S&V era might be among my top 3 ever so far.
