I still wonder exactly why Sam had dreams about his old life. Was it the demon blood? Or some remnant of Sam's psychic abilities, because he did have dream visions in the past. Dean didn't have them, so it had to be one of those two.

I think it's because Dean gave up in the last episode. He wanted to escape the whole situation and his part in it as the chosen one. So he tends to like his new life. Sam doesn't, because he is mentally still in the actual task and therefore has the feeling that something is wrong.

My theory is that Uriel wanted Dean to torture Alistair, not because they didn't have torturers in heaven but because he wanted to brake dean further.

At the end of last episode Uriel says to Cas that Alastair was supposed to break free and kill Dean, so I'm pretty sure he actually just wanted an excuse to end Dean, without the blood being directly on his hands.

I really enjoy this episode. While the djinn episode was how Dean imagined things would be if Mary didn't die. I wonder if this is similar to how they would have been have with different childhoods (no hunt, no John, no brother, no monsters, no trauma). Dean with no daddy issues and a happy family, his love of rock and the Impala is an influence from John and here there was no John so Dean just developed other tastes and interests, with a good family, no John and not having to take care of Sammy he actually studied and ended in a good position on marketing, something that fits him because he's a charismatic guy. Even his change of diet makes sense, Dean has grown up eating junk foot because is cheap and is what is easily available on the road, this Dean on other hand had a whole different childhood where he may have gotten more saludable eating habits. Sam on other hand always been a rebel, his desire to going to Stanford and studying law was in a big part his way of rebelling against his life and his father, so in this scenario in which his life was different he never got that desire to study law. Of course I could be reading too much into it and this world could be totally random, and maybe Zacharias just changed them how he wanted, but I like to think that he really just changed their background and with their new lives this is who they became. It makes sense and is more interesting to me.

This is a fun episode, and it's clear the writers had blast imaging Dean as far from the Dean we know as he could get. Also, we DID see them nab Alastair, at the very end of Death Takes a Holiday. He got zapped by lightening right before Cas shows up.

I’m honestly doubting this is a first watch as you say in the title. Up to this point I’m noticing you say out loud what you (correctly) think is going to happen just before it happens. No need to respond, it’s just my opinion.
