Davion is not alone, I check that my family members are breathing when they are sleeping, just making sure they're ok and not dead. I also understand Davion point that technology might one day become so great that humans don't have to do anything, no physical interaction with anyone, no doing stuff the old fashioned way cause we have buttons to press that get everything done for us and we probably would lose the joy of doing things we like cause everyone is hiding at home pushing buttons.
@TBFC19853 жыл бұрын
Don't worry Davion, I don't think you're a toxic Dean fan. There's nothing wrong with having a favorite character. Even when you have multiple faves, there's going to be one character that you relate to more than the others. And there's nothing wrong with that. As long as you're not downplaying the other characters to build your fave up or making excuses for everything they do, then you're not toxic. Anyway, I thought this was a good episode and it definitely threw me for a loop when I first saw it. However, I do feel like it was more of a filler. Dean basically gave up in the previous episode, so this one was more about Zachariah getting the message through to Dean that hunting was what he was destined to do and there's no escaping it. Cameron, the reason the boys' names are Dean Smith and Sam Wesson is because of the firearm manufacturer Smith and Wesson. The same goes for why their last name is Winchester. If I'm correct, I think Davion was saying that technology is going to make us lazy, if it hasn't already. I mean, think about it. There's not anything the invention of technology hasn't touched, and if it hasn't already, it will in the future. And Davion's point about children nowadays not knowing what it's like to go outside and play is absolutely right, specifically if you look at classes. Children who are more privileged have a choice whereas children who have little to nothing don't have that much of a choice. And this isn't to say that children who are fortunate don't go outside and play, but if you ask them would they rather go outside and play or stay inside and play video games, be on their phones and computers, they're definitely choosing the latter. And you can't really compare us as children to children now because they're far more spoiled than what we were, at least technologically.

That is what would "attach" him to the Hook. b) The Hook had already been melted down to make that necklace (probably another small item or two as well), so all DNA (His and his victim's) would have been destroyed when it was melted down the 1st time. Honestly, I just love the concept for this episode, because it made the overall meaning so much better. Dean and Sam's lives in this "alternate life" are the exact opposite of their characters, on multiple levels, and I don't love it, but I can't say I hate it either. The supernatural being was alright, but then again, that wasn't the main point of this episode, so it gets a pass. I love how the brothers literally point out some main details from their actual life, and basically just mock them lmao.. The true ghost hunters, the Ghostfacers, have returned to help Sam and Dean, as always. Goats. We got a new angel, Cas' superior, Zachariah, who made a lot of good points about Dean and Sam's life and what they are and aren't meant to do. Great. Great reaction guys, hyped for the next! 💯🔥

Completely agree with nathan on that one, as long as people are happy, they're free to do what they want. And if the power goes out tomorrow, they'll learn to play without it, but they'll have been happier in the meantime... if you listen to the people who are 10/15 years older than us, they were saying the exact same thing about us! And the generations before even more... if you listen to any generation, they'll tell you it's not good now, and was better when they grew up, and that they had better values at that time I do agree that technology and social media can have really bad effects, but that's because of how people are using them, and what they're doing on it. If you take care to use them properly, and teach your kids to be careful with them, there's not really a reason to force them to not use them.

The counterpoint to Davion's argument is that there were people in the past who criticized books and said that books would corrupt youth, that they had to stop writing and go back to just paying attention to the lecture (that knowledge should only be passed on through speeches). If we come to the times of quantum computers, the possibility of having nuclear fusion energy and artificial intelligence applied in Science is because we started to store, at a point in history, knowledge in tablets and stones. Yes, technology has made humanity forget its ancient ways and its connection with nature, but technology (Science) is like an axe: you can only use it to gather firewood, but you can also use it to kill. Who perverts the use of this tool is not the existence of the tool, but the human being himself. I can say this, but I not disagree with Davion. In fact, some studies show that too much exposure to social media is detrimental to our psychological well-being. Remember: Ultron took only 5 minutes on the internet to decide to commit genocide.

Interesting. This episode can be read as a middle finger to the idea that Sam's more primed for Real!World success than Dean is.
@andreygirl3 жыл бұрын
not necessarily, since zachariah was pulling the strings here and it doesn't really have any relation to their "real world success." pretty sure that in their world, if they weren't hunters, they wouldn't have ended up at the same company anyway - sam would have been a lawyer, and i (and others) tend to think dean would have liked to be a mechanic. neither of them would have gone for a tech company. this doesn't really have any bearing on what their real lives would have been like.
@darastarscream3 жыл бұрын
@@andreygirl I didn't mean literally-- the boys not being, by circumstances or inclination, 'normal' is kind of the point. My point is, from a certain point of view, Sam's the better man of the two. He managed to get himself accepted into a top flight school while Dean scrapes by mostly on his wits, Sam can pass for respectable while Dean's barely housebroken, Sam was enough of his own man to build an independent life while Dean's the weakling who trembles in his dad's shadow and can't function outside that structure. That is of course incomplete, unfair, and overlooks some very important aspects of both their characters. Dean is not stupid, nor is he weak. And Sam's not as tough or as independent minded as he thinks he is.
@andreygirl3 жыл бұрын
@@darastarscream of course!! they both have had extremely traumatic upbringings with extremely complex reactions to that trauma, which is where i think a lot of what u described comes in. it all comes down to the way they reacted to john winchester's parenting. i haven't really seen anyone who views sam and dean the way u described, but i guess there may be some out there. my point, i guess, was that i don't think this episode serves as a metaphorical middle finger to those people - i would point instead at 'what is and what should never be' (2x20), which seems to be a more accurate portrayal of what life would have been like for them in a world where they got to create their own lives.

@@andreygirl WIAWSNB wasn't an alternate timeline. That was *Dean's* idea of what his life would be like if Mary had lived, and in *there* he was a jerk with a drinking problem and a brother who didn't respect him. That's what I mean by middle finger; the angels were taking Dean's concept of himself as a failure of a man who can't possibly save the world and showing him it's not true. Which in light of what the angels do later is just [bleep]ed up but that goes into Spoilerville.
