I've avoided OSL on my models, but I think I might test it out. I've got a couple models that might look really cool with a bit of OSL on the plasma weapons and such.

Great job, the end results were really good! There's definitely a fair bit you have to discover on your own when doing this stuff, but I'll be taking notes from this when I do my next OSL video to see if I can explain some sections more clearly :) Just as a note - I think you were possibly doing this on hard mode a little with some of the paints you used in parts, so there's some instant wins easily available. Happy to talk about this any time if useful. One of the reasons for using more paints is to have a transition from cool blue-green to bright yellow-green, might not be super realistic, but it looks great, and the blue-green makes the yellow-green look brighter by contrast, without you really having to do anything.

For White that just needs to go into recesses (Like Nighthaunt Flames or Plasma Rifles) - i would still consider using an Oil Wash (even though you said it makes no difference... well... it does) - it does the job cleaner - has tons of pigment and can be cleaned off if needed. For all the other cases shown in the video - yeah - i guess acrylics are even better suited for that :).
@ataraxiapainting
@ataraxiapainting 8 ай бұрын
I was honestly pretty sure it’s make the difference, for the reason you mentioned, pigment. But it didn’t, in brightness at least! Sure it still retains all the other properties.. but for people who are used to acrylics I thought I’d show just that!

Awesome vid! I actually prefer to use your techniques here over airbrush for OSL , I find this has more control over the "hedges" where airbrush can cover shadow areas quite easily

In regards to fluo paints. Army Painter's new Fanatic range actually has realyl good fluo paints. I have hated every single fluo paint from every manufacturer I have ever tried because of their weird goopy consistency. The Fanatic fluos are very thin right out of the bottle, basically glaze consistency.
