**TIP** Whenever baby sleeps, turn on a radio nearby! Loud enough without being too distracting. The constant change in tone, (talking and singing) is better than a sound machine. That way, if someone rings the doorbell, a dog barks, a phone rings, or you sneeze!, baby keeps on sleeping. I always made a point to vacuum with their door open when mine were napping. Conditioning them from birth to sleep with noise, they'll sleep through ANYTHING! 🤣

Yeah when my son was young I had several people tell me to play music or leave the TV on All them noises so he was used to it and I could put him down and he'd never wake I'd leave the TV going and everything so that worked pretty darn good They say you keep it too quiet and that's how it has to be all the time....

If I may be so bold: I do not recommend using fluffy slippers at the hospital! I would suggest taking flip flops instead. The first few times that you stand up after childbirth there can be surprises, and you don’t want to get anything on your cute, white, absorbent looking slippers! Learned this the hard way, hopefully it can help you 😅 best wishes! You, baby and Stephen are in my prayers.

Labor and delivery RN here🤚🏼The hospital will have everything you will need after delivery and will send you home with a lot and most ppl take a lot with them so don’t stress. Most ppl buy so much stuff that they never even use. Is this baby going to be a Leo ♌️ bc I am? So excited for you guys. Wishing you a happy and healthy delivery ❤

Lol it’s always soo cute to see what everyone packs & over-packs! For my last daughter back in 2020, I lit just packed her outfits & my deodorant/makeup & my underwear etc & that was it. No pillows, no boppy pillows, no stuffed animals or bottles or pumps or nothing…lol but to each their own ig.

Make sure Stephen packs himself a bag for the hospital as well. He needs to have a change of clothes, a phone charger, snacks, drinks and anything to keep him entertained just in case there is a lot of waiting. Most hospitals do not provide food for the husband and the cafeteria is not always open.

**Memories suggestion- pick out or make a really cute wall calendar to put up for all important appointments you would normally do - then also write in EVERYTHING you can think of in the boxes besides appointment like sweet comments from others, babys firsts, funny things Prince does around him, etc. Then glue/tape printed pics and other little tidbits to the top part of the calendar to make a fun (easy!!) babybook/scrapbook. I did this for all three of my kids when i heard everyone always neglected formal baby books and i knew i would be looking at a wall calendar everyday. Wishing you all the best!!👍🧡👍🧡

Don't forget to pack an extra long charger for Stephen too!!! Also, my friend had long hair like you and she said one of the best things she did was to put her hair into a side braid when she left to go to the hospital. Also, don't tiptoe around the baby. Have normal noise, like the TV and regular background noise. We had normal noise when my first nephew was born (I lived with my older sister and her husband her last month, and first 3 months of his life to help her). From birth, he learned to sleep with the TV going, people talking and even the vacuum running, all at the same time. I promise, it is not quiet in the womb or hospital nursery. He will-very quickly- learn to sleep through anything, if you will let him.

I think it’s so cute when new parents buy all the cute stuff for their babies. 😊 stuff like the changing table, the rocker, and stuff like that, because in reality, we’re so tired, we’re just changing the baby on our beds. We’re not walking upstairs to change them, we’re changing them on the couch lol. I dunno about anybody else but I barely used my changing table, or any of the fancy stuff lol 😆 I didn’t use the rocker in the room, because I wanted to be in the living room with other people. People always have this soo cute image when they’re pregnant. In reality it’s exhausting chaos in the beginning 😂

Definitely how long they stay in your room is 100% gonna be up to you. Personally, I think it’s better to get them used to being in their own room for mom & dads personal time - the older they are, the harder it is to break them from sleeping in your room. And it’s definitely important to have a time and a place to relax without baby. For both of your mental health! 💕 So happy for you both!

Yes! I had 3. My first stayed too long with us and it was traumatic transition. My second went into his room the first night. And so did my 3rd. I didn’t want my other babies to have to go through that. It’s easier when they aren’t as aware.
@Sassyglbeauty
@Sassyglbeauty 2 ай бұрын
@@MamaW30 definitely. I remember tho, I had decided that I would NEVER let my first sleep with me. I put him in his bassinet and he screamed, his baby bed, he screamed. Laid him down on the bed and ran to use the restroom and he was sleeping like an Angel. I legit stared at him for at least 5 minutes, like what do I do now? lol. Needless to say, he slept in my bed. I also nursed, so it was soooooo much easier - but I did transition him around a month or so to sleep in his own bed. Pretty sure tho, that my daughter always slept out of the bedroom. But, she was like the complete opposite of my son. My son literally wanted constant attention. Not her, she was absolutely content to be on her own. They remained like that the rest of their lives. lol.

@ggggglllll7129 Ай бұрын
They’re ready for their own room, in the crib, when they outgrow the bassinet . Or you can also move them to the crib when they start sleeping through the night. Usually both are around the same time. PLUS, make sure you let them self soothe as soon as possible to get to sleep or you will have a nightmare on your hands every night trying to get them to sleep. It’s hard at first but it’s only a couple of minutes a few days. You will not regret it!

Steven needs to bring items, too, unless he is going home to change. At our hospital, the dad didn't get food they had to go to the cafe. Most of the stuff I took i didn't use and needed to do several trips to the car with everything the hospital gave us. Congratulations.

Something I recommend to all the new moms, use a faja, most hospitals give you one. Use it as tight as possible for a month and then switch to body shaping for 2 more months. This is not only going to help your skin stick back, but also your organs to go back to normal. It was recommended to me by the nurses and doctors at the hospital. I promise you won’t regret it.

get one of those bed connector baby beds if baby isn't going to be in bed. Our 2 coslept for 12 months and was the chillest, lowkey baby ever who had th ebest sleep routine. Just PLEASE remember there is no such thing as crying it out. If a baby cries, it is in distress and its body is being affected negatively. Thats truly my only comment I ever utter. NO CRYING IT OUT

I used a bassinet for the first 2 wks. Then my daughter started sleeping in the crib. Neither of you will get sleep with the bassinet next to your bed with feedings every 2-3 hrs. My daughter started sleeping through the night at 4-5 wks. The first few wks are exhausting. You'll make it through. Life will forever change, bit it'll he your greatest accomplishment too. I used a glider to rock my daughter to sleep. I had a car section but I still changed into my own soft snap front gown afterwards for comfort & ease to breast feed. Another good thing I did. Was getting my infant used to me cleaning & making some noise. The sound actually lulled her to sleep. I could vacumn run laundry, etc... & shed sleep right through it. She still sleeps hard to this day.

L&D nurse here - I’m a little nervous for your white slippers. There is typically a good bit of bleeding after delivery and I have had so many of my patients bleed over their pad and down their legs and onto the floor, socks, slippers and blankets. I’m a huge advocate for you having whatever makes you feel more comfortable and “normal”, just be aware. ❤

Something to think about would be having a changing station and various supplies on the 1st floor where the living room and kitchen is. Labor and delivery can be unpredictable and you may not feel like or be able to go up and down the steps the first week or two after coming home from the hospital. 😊

I was so excited for our bassinet and my baby never slept it in. We had feeding issues and she wanted to be latched all of the time because she was hungry and I didn’t realize but after the feeding issues were resolved at 7 weeks she still wouldn’t go in the bassinet or her crib. She would fight it so hard and never sleep. We do contact naps and she’s been sleeping with me in my bed since birth until 6 months and then we moved to her room on a floor bed and I still sleep with her in her room. She’s now 8.5 months. Every baby is different but this is my experience. I wished my babe slept in her crib but I also love the snuggles. Goodluck you look amazing!! ❤️

When I had my kids, I didn’t have a bag packed either time. I went into labor 3 weeks early for my first. I just went to the hospital with my purse and after I had my baby, my husband went home and brought me everything I needed, which was just comfy pjs for my stay, clothes to go home in, towels and my toiletries. I didn’t take anything else. The day that we went home, my husband brought a baby outfit and the carseat of course. The hospital has most things you will need. Of course, having my clothes ready in a bag would have been easier, but it really wasn’t a problem at all. It is so funny hearing you say that you are packing your phone charger and stuff because when I had my kids, we didn’t have cell phones yet. Lol!! My kids were born in 1996 and 1999. We didn’t get our first cell phone until 2000 and we shared that one. We didn’t each have one until 2003. So funny remembering this. Good luck to you both! I am sure everything will go well.

I had my daughter on 8/3/22 so I totally understand the 3rd tri struggle with the ridiculous heat. I preferred the peri bottle at the hospital and whatever they brought into the room, we took home (diapers, wipes, formula before my milk came in, bottles, baby blankets, baby undershirts, peri bottle, witch hazel pads, etc.) My daughter slept in her crib around 5-6 months. Before that, she slept with us. She hated her bassinet. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Sending prayers and good vibes for you before, during and after your delivery! So excited for you! 💙

Both my boys slept in our room for the first year! They are so new to the world and I can’t imagine them not in my room right off the bat😭 they need their mama for comfort and they can sense and smell when you’re near for comfort and regulation! Being a parent it’s about our babies now not about us anymore :) the US is the only country that pushes infant independence so early, it’s very sad and abnormal!

I packed so much for the hospital for my first birth, and I ended up not needing almost anything. The hospital gown was so comfortable I didn’t even used any of my clothes. A good pair slippers I do recommend and baby blanket and clothes as well as the purple desitin cream to prevent baby rash.

We have the same birthday, but I’m a year older and had an August baby in 2022. Stressing is our nature and them July/August babies are built different (my baby girl is DETERMINED, but so loyal and intelligent). I’m telling you right now, YOU GOT THIS! Having her was the best decision we ever made!

I fell on the stairs when I was in my 3rd trimester and my OB was upset that I didn't immediately go to the hospital because apparently it can cause your placenta to rupture or separate if you fall on you back or butt... so just for all you future mama's don't risk it just go get checked ❤❤

I’m so sorry you fell!! It happened to me when I was pregnant with baby #3 . I fell belly down on my back patio scared me so bad but he was fine! I’m am glad you and your little guy are okay!

I kept both of mine close until they were 6 months. The key is whether they can self soothe and making it through the 8 oz. Bottle. They need to have their belly full and go for at least 4 hours basically. Oh and bring a blanket. They will give you the basics but the room gets cold at night. Just a basic throw will make you feel better lol. Good luck honey!

I love the Nanit! You can get a sheet to measure the baby as it grows and they have “watch your baby grow” videos. My daughter is 3 and we still use it. It’s great also for travel - you can bring it anywhere.

I'm glad you and your baby are fine!! I feel like it was like a day ago when I found out you were pregnant!! I would recommend keeping your baby in your room still there 12 months old!!!!! You are not alone with not knowing what to pack in your hospital bag!!!!

im a postpartum nurse, my hospital only provides one meal for the partner but all other meals are only for the mom. and Id pack a small travel case of tylenol/ibuprofen for him as well. you wont be able to take anything that the nurses didnt give you for safety purposes but we cant give medicine to anyone other than the patient. and considering the lack of sleep you both will most likely experience, something for him is good. and YES, bring that breastfeeding pillow. so smart especially for first time parents/first time learning to breastfeed. it really helps

I have 3 of those diaper caddies, and I love them! Originally got one for each room: nursery, our room, and living room, and stocked them once a week. So handy!

Honestly I kept all my children in my room until they slept through the night then I moved them to their own room. As far as what to take with you, I suggest a couple days worth of comfy clothes for you along with pillow, blanket if you have something particular that is comfortable. I had an emergency c-section with my first so I had to stay for 3 days so I needed the comfort of my own things while there

My boy is almost 2 and still cosleeps. We do in his crib in out room sometimes but he still ends up in our bed. He was hospitalized in the ICU on breathing tubes for 7 days so we still deal with some anxieties and traumas. He gets to stay where he feels safe

I fell, three times with my last pregnancy. The third time I fell forward, landed DIRECTLY onto my belly at 7.5 months pregnant. I went to the ER, they admitted me to do scans. But while there, learned that babies have a lot of protection in there. Of course all ended up being well with me too. But once a Mama, always a worrier! Glad you are well Mama. ❤

Quick advice for ya…..skip the just for men dye. Go to the hair color section and buy the cheapest dark blond hair dye they make. $10. Yes you only use a few drops but it is what it is! It’s permanent dye, and you’ll be saving money. Apply with a Qtip and leave on for 30 mins. This is what I do to cover the grey brows, maybe every 6 weeks or so. Best wishes for a safe and happy delivery, Kelly! ❤

My daughter only slept in a bassinet in our room for the first week or so while I recovered from my c section, after that she went to her crib in her room and has been there ever since. Every baby is different for sure!

Commenting as I go through the video- I would recommend bringing several pairs of nursing friendly pjs (i love the latched mama labor dress) and nursing bras. No one warned me about post partum night sweats but they were intense and having clean pjs to wear each day helped a lot.

Also if you are planning to breastfeed- highly recommend silvertte nipple cups. Pricey but legit saved my boobs the first few weeks!

Tomorrow is my last day to work before I’m stay at home mom, thanks to God so I can pack our hospital bags! Husband is almost done painting nursery so I can move everything back in nursery & we’re going for to hire a cleaning lady just to do one deep clean before baby arrives! & shop for snacks too! Blessings!

I'm glad you and baby were ok after the tumble! I love that Prince gave his approval of the rug. On the how long they stay in your room, each child is different. Our oldest had unexpected medical needs that kept him in our room longer as a safety factor. On the wipes and diapers, it varies with kids. Some babies are sensitive to certain brands. Also, on diapers, there are some overlap in sizes. Like size 1 in brand A he's outgrown, but size 2 is too big. However, in brand B, size 1 still fits until he grows into that next size in brand A. I hope delivery goes well. You look absolutely adorable. Most hospitals won't feed Stephen, but he can order something in the cafeteria for himself. Also, most hospitals will not want you to eat snacks till after you give birth. Which can make for a long day. I hope your swelling goes down. God bless.❤

This is so exciting. I remember how exciting it was getting ready for baby. I have 3 kids, well not kids anymore. They are 26, 24 and 20 now. I am so very excited for you both. They do have so much that they give you and supply for you in the hospital. I also remember getting a lot of goodies from our OBGYN too. Plus, what ever there is left, diapers, formula etc, you can take home with you. I am so excited for you guys, I can’t wait for the whole birthing story. I will be praying for a happy and healthy baby and delivery. I pray for a easy delivery for you honey. Take good care of yourself honey. I am also very glad you are okay from the fall. Love you guys very much. God Bless you all. ❤❤❤

I have the kids and the amount of time they stayed in my room varied. Both girls were born without complications so they stayed for a couple months. My son on the other day hand was born not breathing (and was fine after 10 minutes) so he stayed longer (almost a year) it of fear. However, there's no specific rule how long to keep them in with you. It's what is easiest for you in terms on getting up in the middle of the night, if your monitor has visual (me was only an audio monitor. Once he starts sleeping through the night he can sleep in his nursery. In terms of the accent wall I think it'd be cute to put baby animals so he has stimulation without it being too much.

I’m so happy for you both! You will be great and loving parents. He will be so loved! My daughter slept in the bassinet for 3 months. Honesty she slept in her bouncy chair that vibrated cause that’s what she loved. My son loved to sleep in the swing. He was colicky so it was a but rough. I don’t remember when he went to the crib. You’ll know when it’s time. I feel like infants are just eating pooping and crying lol. Wishing you a healthy delivery Kelly. You look beautiful ❤

My doctor said bring whatever makes you feel comfortable, but if you're not ok with it getting messy and/or ruined, leave it at home. They will have everything you NEED, but bring your WANTS that make you feel like you 😊

I put my kids in their cribs like 6 to eight weeks. I wanted them to get used to sleeping there. I didn't breast feed, I was a teenager and that seemed wierd to me then and also it was 1985 and ladies weren't doing it so much. That would probably make a difference! My second baby decided to not sleep all night until 2 years old but I kept him in his room. My daughter was an angel and slept through the night from night one. There are many variables with babies. You look beautiful and congrats to both of you!
