So its the truth that,s why even Zulu people in RSA are over 10 miilion the biggest tribe due to that work in the 1800s, before then there was no Zulu kingdom before Shaka Zulu. So most of these Nguni people joined other Bantu tribes like Sotho,etc and others just relocated away from eastern south africa.

@Van_Wilder
@Van_Wilder Жыл бұрын
@@HireYourSelfWithCarlos look, it all depends on what kind of experience you hoping to get out of your trip to SA. I lived most of my life in Cape Town and almost 16 years in Johannesburg. If you have limited time, I would say skip Johannesburg and just spend all your time in Cape Town (and that’s me trying not to be bias) most visitors that go to Johannesburg do everything that’s listed on trip advisor such as Apartheid Museum, Vilikazi Street in Soweto (Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s home etc). If you really must go to Jhb then what you should know is the following: Jhb is divided into 5 parts…JHB North (the upper class and where all the top bars, clubs and restaurants are), JHB South, East Rand, West Rand and JHB central. Jhb central also has a few happening spots such as Braamfontein on a Saturday (visit the neighbourgoods market and surrounding pubs) and on a Sunday, you can visit Maboneg Precinct (also a market, bars, restaurants and rooftop bars etc) note that any other day of the week in the same area becomes a little less safe to walk. But again, if your time is limited and you are a social type of person that likes to go out and about, then I would just checkout all the places in Jhb north. To answer your question if JHB is dangerous. I’d say, if your a tourist, travelling alone and don’t know your way around (and it’s obvious that you cannot blend in with the locals) then you are asking for unnecessary trouble - unless you operate in Jhb North (Sandton and surrounds) but even then be careful. Nothing has ever happened to me in the 16 years i lived there but I am a firm believer that a person that is overly fearful about their surroundings attract danger. Cape Town is by far the better option and has lots to offer but to enjoy it to the fullest, it’s best you rent a hired car or be prepared to pay for longer distances via Uber. In addition, Cape Town has many dangerous areas but you have no reason to go anywhere near of them - so stick to the tourist spots and you’ll be fine. Food is the same price in Cape Town as what it’s is in Jhb (despite what others might tell you). Also, many black people in particular will say that Cape Town is racist…this is not true (the isolated incidents of racism exists all across the country but are far and few between). Many people of colour in South Africa still play the victim card, sighting all whites are racist…don’t listen to them it simply isn’t true and it’s time they get over themselves and move on as there are more people im this country that strive towards achieving that vision of a true rainbow nation. I will say this though, Jhb is by far more cosmopolitan (diverse) with many cultures and nationalities coming together (one huge melting pot). Racism is rare but classism is a real thing in both major cities. Some would argue it’s the same thing but I somewhat disagree. By classism I mean, people unconsciously are accepting of anyone who looks the part, dresses the part and hang out at similar places, irrespective of skin colour. One thing about SA though that is quite sad, on the dating scene or social scene, people are very superficial (especially in JHB) in the sense that it’s all about the car they drive, the job title or the suburb in which they live…and single woman in particular will sniff out that information in less than 5min to figure out if you worth their time. Stay clear of such woman. I don’t want to put you off JHb as JHb has its own appeal and also a lot to offer BUT it’s best if you can connect with a local to show you around and not try to figure it out on your own. Where as in CT, you could easily get away with having a solo trip and making the most. Last bit not least (STAY AWAY FROM DURBAN) boring as hell. Best way to compare the two cities is this…think of it this way…JHb is 5 times bigger than CT and as such, 5 times the size, 5 times bigger in infrastructure, 5 times more cars on the road, 5 times more accidents, 5 times more people and 5 times more crime. So for every one breaking-in entry you’ll hear about in CT or every robbery, you would hear of 5 in JHb. Now this isn’t entirely true and somewhat exaggerated but it’s something that stuck with me when I first moved to JHB and makes perfect sense…so don’t be alarmed by the stats - they often far from true.

Better be aware of xenophobia. Make sure everyone knows you are a black American, not African

Are you saying South Africans are the most colonised Africans on the continent?

what do you mean? the vending stalls as you see them are operated by foreign nationals not SA citizens. If we are xenophobic why would we allow them to run their business in Rosebank?

are you expecting a hut like structure and see us dressed in lion and leopard skin!!. Zulus actually dress like that, if we dress like that you will never set your foot in SA again. We have our heritage day when we uphold our culture and dress in our traditional attires sir. 🤔

@@Sparxx74 I'm sorry but Africans aren't a monolith. We are allowed to be who we want to be without being policed. I find it very sad that you cast aspersions so readily. It's rather ignorant. Also as a multicultural nation we've formed "bridges" of a kind in order to live well and peaceably with one another and if those bridges seem 'coloniser' to you then that's unfortunate. Maybe visit first before being quick to draw conclusions.

Where are you from buddy? Speaking facts if you want a real African vibe go to West Africa because South Africa is like something else that is why many get suprised when they get here.
