Lesser known fact home alone movie is actually based off of this episode. It was actually their first unaired pilot in 1989. They wanted to add it in 2005 as its first episode but it was hold off until season 13.

glad to see someone else like this episode, i respect that its contents not for everyone but i was surprised to see how low rated it was? i think while the episode isnt as funny once the trap stuff begins, it ends up being like a masterclass of charlie days physical comedy and pain acting which are just so good to me.

Nearly every episode from the later years has hate. Most shows get stale, and I get it. We don't like getting old. We don't like change. But I wish those haters would rewatch the episodes and acknowledge how much better and more inventive they are than the majority of filler BS studios put out during this time.

This episode is what reactions are made for. It’s a mid episode for me. The Home Alone nostalgia is fun, and I will watch Charlie do anything, but it’s a fairly one dimensional concept. There’s no layers, no commentary, no satire, no character study, which is my personal preference for Sunny. Give me a Cereal Defence, a Gang gets Analysed, a Mac Fights Gay Marriage, a High School Reunion. But watching you guys watch this episode is so much more enjoyable. Especially since this episode doesn’t have much re-watch value. I guess there are a lot of big moments to react to. This is elevating content. ❤

I never really understood why these two episodes get hate. I loved the home alone homage and maybe people don't like NFL fans being made fun of for actually thinking they make any difference to a match 😅😅😅

They're kind of niche, even by Sunny standards. It's hard to make horror really funny, and it didn't work here for me. And American football is pretty niche, it might be huge in America but most of the rest of the world doesn't follow the NFL, the concept of being at a game is fine but they made *this game* feel particularly important, and I can't imagine non fans of the team would care all that might. At the end it felt like watching a documentary about a team you don't support lol

IT'S TIME! For Charlie's rituals. There was this guy watching a football (soccer/fútbol) game with his father, their team was getting beat up. He went to the bathroom, the team scored! And his father very superstitious guy, thinks what changed for this to happen, so it locked the bathroom door and left his son there until the game finished. I don't remember if the team won or not, but this episode always reminds me that story. Nice call of Dean!! See you on the second part and the finale, guys!

I can't help but wonder if this was a side effect of other contractual obligations. The second part of this one is a lot better, because at least in its way it feels like a love letter to the people of Philadelphia. This feels like it was rounding out a contract to get to ten episodes.

As big of a fan of this show as I am, even if I find an episode to be mid here and there, I try and usually do find redeeming qualities in them. This episode I could watch 10 times and not remember much except for how cringe the storyline is. Least favorite episode of the series. Other than these two episodes, I do love this season though.

In my opinion, this is by far the worst episode of the show, and the only one that I consider to be bad. The first half is a lazy parody, the second half is uncomfortable torture-p*rn, and the whole episode is just completely unfunny to me. I didn't even both to sit through your whole reaction, I skipped to the end to hear your thoughts. edit: I like the next episode, though.

I agree with your take and have always felt that way about this episode. However, watching these guys enjoy the episode made this rewatch much more enjoyable. I don't know whether it's the power of suggestion or some other herd/follower shortcoming of mine.

Probably not an unpopular opinion. New sunny in general...is pretty meh. In the past, the script were focussed on concepts or ideas, where the later episodes are ever increasingly focussed on each character's extremely exaggerated characteristics. Anyway, just my opinion. There's still some occasional gold, like when they move to the suburbs,. Season 2-7 will still be my high mark, and I don't see that changing sadly.

Not sure how you can screw up a home alone parody starring Charlie but they did it. I think it's because Charlie is the easiest one to sympathize with out of the entire gang, and no one really wants to see him get grievously injured. Spending fifteen minutes of watching him agonize just to point out the home alone traps are really not funny, isn't a great payoff.
