It’s amazing what you can accomplish in a day that starts around 5am for milkin, and ends after 8pm for drinkin. What a job. Looks fantastic When you’ve a great operator on the controls, it can sure make a heck of a difference.

As others have said, never apologise we are just glad to come along for the ride. Jerry is definitely a master, that's a lot of work to do in one day with a little digger. Let's hope that the calf starts behaving itself and starts drinking and standing on its own. 👍

A real nice improvement to the farm! Great video! A suggestion - If your Dad is up to it, have you ever thought about doing a video with him talking about the history of the farm, improvements made over the years, major purchases (first tractor, etc.) and his thoughts on farming today vs when he was getting started. Just a thought, as I have never met a farmer, including my grand parents, that did not like to talk about the old days... Take care and be safe...

I would love nothing more than to be able to make that video with him for sure but unfortunately he’s just too unwell at present. 🤞

Should consider getting a Timelapse camera. Strap in onto the top of one of the sheds facing the area that you are landscaping. Would record the whole process and could be one big video for when it is finished.

Hey Adrian little idea for you with that water tank for washing down. We have it set up on our farm that the water from plate cooler goes into a tank out the back of parlour which is then emptied when washing out. Saves a bit of water that way.

Good morning from a Meath man in Canada, I've said it before but that block wall needs to come down and replaced with gates, it will help with the flow of the yard, rather then traipsing all the way around the home house, but a beautiful but of work by Gerry, he'd take the milk out of your tea with that machine, top shelf

From across the pond. Non-Agricultural workers in the US are, for the most part, covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act with regards to basic 40 hr. work week, overtime etc. Agricultural workers, as you well know work a 25 hr. day, 8 days a week, not sure where they got the extra 160 hrs from. Did you say "a" beer? I didn't know there was such a thing. Narragansett Bay

There's never a dull moment in farming is there my mother used to feed the calves the beastings if the calf wouldn't drink she would catch the nose and pull it down into the bucket while doing that she had her fingers in the calfs mouth to get it to suck.

Adrian whenever you erect your new boundary fence, Will you be knocking down the wall that’s currently present in order to make tractors and machinery accessible into the new yard by also erecting new gates?
@IFarmWeFarm7 ай бұрын
Yes most of that wall will be coming down and that will be the main access through the yard. Be nothing going up past the house when all it done

It looks great! What do you do with the Angus calves. I know that calf isn't gonna give you much milk, but you must have some heifers. Do you use them for beef or do you use them in the dairy herd? the more videos I watch of farming over in Europe, I swear I see Angus in the milking herd. Am I seeing what is not there?

Another good job done! Seeing the area in one uniform colour thanks to the gravel, really emphasises how much space was hiding away there. That is going to be a very useful yard and who knows, even possibly a shed sometime in the future. I'm sure your father is quite impressed as you are adding on to something he worked hard to create that has allowed you to do what you are doing. I look forward to next week's video, whatever the content.

Hello Adrian, I bought a rakeman and broadcaster recently and I hope to do some overseeding. I was wondering what type of grass seed do you use when overseeding? Cheers
@IFarmWeFarm7 ай бұрын
I use a seed with a good portion of tetraploid perennial ryegrass as it is a little heavier and tends to germinate quicker. I’d also add clover while you’re at it, a quick roll and a nice coat of slurry afterwords works wonders. There a powerful tool for improving grassland
