That's what's so great about living in Scotland, 4 seasons in one day/hour lol the lighting constantly changing, keeping you on your toes. Great to see you getting so much pleasure from the landscapes it's a wonderful feeling when it all comes together. Bet you can't wait to return!

The arch is called Stac a' Phris, on the west coast of Lewis near Shawbost. There are limited decent compositions so you have to make the sea movement and weather conditions work for you.

You are probably the most enthusiastic person I have watched on the photography side of KZbin I have been in similar situations where you are racing against the light only to fail a the last minute. It's really enjoyable to see someone getting emotionally excited with the beauty of whats in front of you. I nearly broke down flying over western Australia on route to see relatives I hadn't seen for over 30 years That colour of the red desert and the colour of the sea just hit me I totally understand when you had that reaction when you arrived at this island I have subscribed and look forward to seeing your vlogs Keep up the good work

Hi Henry, I've been an avid viewer of your channel for a while now, I was primarily a macro photographer but while out and about looking for subjects I kept seeing amazing scenery, I tried taking the shots and they were nothing like what I was seeing, I decided to turn to you tube to find out how to photograph landscapes and your videos kept popping up so decided to watch a few, those few turned in to a lot and now I've watched the same ones over and over. Thoroughly enjoyable, informative and inspirational. Keep living the dream :)
@mauriziomigliozzi4 жыл бұрын
The last photograph is very nice but the one I liked the most is the one with the waterfall: exquisite composition, so well thought and original, something to be inspired by. One last advice: why don't you give a try to some waterproof socks? Sealskinz (made in UK) are fine but anyone is ok. If you get acquainted with them you can even forget waterproof shoes.

waterproof socks may be worth a try! I think wellies would have been ideal in this situation

12:05 - you aren't trespassing, there is a right to roam in Scotland, Been at the arch before, you are right its hard to find if you don't know where to look but that is a good thing! (yet it is still busy, i had a workshop turn up when I was there)

That archway shot! To say what I like, simply, I'd reduce it to the feeling it has, for me: Intimate. With typically more dramatic light, etc, it wouldn't have that quality, and I daresay, it wouldn't have moved me like this one does. There's plenty of drama, but in an almost private way. That ring of ripple around the submerged rock in the "pocket", Wonderful, in its milky goodness! Frankly, I'm glad you "couldn't" use the ultrawide, because the 16mm focal length boxed you into a very fine arrangement. Sometimes the urgent crunch opens creative seeing that simply wouldn't have been chosen, "normally". Just Gotta Take the Shot! and discover it back at the edit desk. Big Thumbs Up, Sir.

Thanks a lot Jill, yes I was very lucky with my timings!
@goateyephotography8084 жыл бұрын
The red beast back in action! 👍 2:10 That's why a prepared landscape photographer always has his or her swimming outfit in the backpack! 😅 4:10 That's why a prepared landscape photographer always has a broom in the backpa- no? Oh... But... If you travel to beaches, maybe we should consider bringing some with us? Other people might call us crazy, but let's be honest: we *are* crazy. 😅 5:38 I expect that the fog/clouds lift every moment and reveal a lost country, or ghost ship, or anything else mystical-magical. 10:53 The result was worth the hassle. And this is probably one of these locations which would work perfectly on *any* weather. 🤔 Though you missed the timing for the last shot, it's still an awesome image. And you got now... seven or so stunning pictures in two days. That's an outstanding result!

Henry, I was one of the three photographers in your video from your final location so really appreciate your enthusiasm for that area. However one point I would like to make is to ask whether you have given any thought to the environmental impact your videos might have on such wild and remote areas. The Isle of Skye is experiencing considerable problems as a result of social media exposure, and i can see other locations going the same way. Just something to think about?
@HenryTurnerphoto4 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve, thanks for the comment. It's not something I'd particularly considered from the KZbin side of things, but when I travel to these places I personally try to do my bit by supporting local businesses, engaging with locals and generally being as respectful as possible. I hope you noticed that I didn't actually give any of the names of the places I'd visited in this video. I think the environmental impact is that of the people - and in my opinion it's unfair to single out my videos mate to be honest, my goal is to inspire people to get out with their cameras and to enjoy the world - that's something I stand by. With that being said, I'm more than happy to listen if you have any suggestions Steve. Hope you understand. Cheers.
@McKinnellPhotography4 жыл бұрын
Henry Turner Hi Henry, I wasn’t trying to single out your videos, I was making a general point that I think we should all consider. I fully appreciate your intention is to inspire others to enjoy the amazing world we live in, however looking at the comments you received it is clear that a number of people have indicated their intention to visit that location, which in turn will eventually be impacted. I know that we all have a right to enjoy our wonderful landscape, I just worry about the impact we have when we flock to a location in large numbers. It is a difficult balance and it was not my intention to criticise you, I just wanted to encourage you to think about the issue. We all have choices to make at the end of the day. Good luck going forward and stay safe, Steve
@HenryTurnerphoto4 жыл бұрын
Morning Steve, thanks for the reply. I’m sorry, that came across wrong. I didn’t mean you specifically were singling out my videos, I just meant if people were to single me out generally. I completely understand your point and it’s definitely something worth discussing - I wouldn’t like to be responsible for an area getting overrun. Yes you’re right regarding the choices aspect - definitely something to think about. I thank you for bringing it to my attention more than it has done in the past. I’m considering doing a live stream and perhaps it will be a great place to discuss it with people there. Thanks again mate and all the best.

Mate.... you beat yourself up to much... what u do is soo much more than landscape photography.... the process of making the Vlog on top of just being out and taking the still shot must be such hard work... you do it so well... but honestly when u have light like that... in a location like that... that isnt just an hour along the road... turn US off and enjoy the moment for you! Take a few quick stills if u like and do a voice over later... but dont feel guilty about it... tell us the story later... you enjoy and capture the moment. What is the name of that sea arch out of interest.... lewis and Harris on my radar for a holiday in the next few years... and id like to add it to my location plans. Keep safe in this difficult time! Thankyou for your continued inspiration! Are you on flickr? Id like to follow u... i dont use instagram... much prefer the flickr photography community
