Good job. Glad to see you working with the original parts. Too many people just toss them away and install something modern.

A set of ramps would be great for you. Put a set under the front wheels. I have two sets and when I work under my old cars like this I jack the car up and put a set under the front wheels and a set under the rear wheels. Keep up the great work. We all enjoy watching your adventures. Eddie

Thanks for watching & for the nice comment. I’m definitely doing ramps next time with a unibody Rambler like this. The crossmembers are narrow & the body has creases you don’t want to crush. I almost welded up a big set up ramps but I’m out of room.

38:38 I was actually munching on some Dots pretzels. Man these are good. I think the down an dirty button mashing sounds more fun than slowing down. But the slowing down sounds good too. Wow, I have to slow down on the Dots or the family is going to be mad at me.

I hopped onto u s fifty west bound from I seventy nine in fairmont west virginia with an hour and a half left in my drive. Tiring of the Philadelphia sports radio station I was listening to through much of the early morning, I clicked the KZbin icon to see if maybe I could find a audible book and lo.And behold there you were in my feed! From fairmont to athens ohio it's about an hour and forty minutes and it was enough for me to listen twice without hardly looking at all while towing a nineteen sixty eight rambler wagon. I felt the tease coming all along. I knew you were too much of a clean guy to go without pumping that thing out! As always, I look forward to the next one!
@freemansgarage6 ай бұрын
That’s funny. Was I in your feed in KZbin on a phone or the dashboard computer screen of the vehicle you were driving? Wish I had a Rambler wagon.
@oldschoolcars33186 ай бұрын
@@freemansgarage LOL, HELL NO! to a dashboard computer screen! Only the finest Oklahoma state surplus 135K cat eye V6 2wd silverado long bed work truck that $825 can buy! (Ok, so we dumped another $1200 in it to make it rippin reliable and almost pretty). Because the very fine stock radio no longer works, You came to me on a Samsung with a great little Sony Bluetooth speaker thrown up on the dash (in matching pleather gray). 12MPG misery is over.... on my way home now in Washington PA hoping for 20MP empty.

I can mend you putting together that transmission I've replaced a lot of Transmissions I've never taken one apart we're still working on my El Camino my friend rebuilt the transmission himself is the 200 hour and I guess a lot of the parts were hard to find we had to go to San Diego and there was a lot of different places that we had to get parts for it for some reason and it doesn't make sense to me because a lot of the mid-80s GM products had the 200r transmission next is a complete brake system and front suspension lots of fun too cool
@freemansgarage6 ай бұрын
That’s sounds like fun. I hope you get to drive it soon. An El Camino would be nice. I used to be a resident of San Diego once upon a time.

As dirty as this transmission was, even if it works fine when you get it going, draining and re-flushing is probably a good idea. Dirtiest trans I've ever seen. Keep up the good work!
@freemansgarage6 ай бұрын
Agreed. Flushing it can’t hurt so might as well try to put the odds as much in out favor as possible.
@brianhayes76186 ай бұрын
What kind of transmission fluid does that use?
@freemansgarage6 ай бұрын
It was designed to use type A or F. I believe type A which I also believe is not manufactured anyone. The replacement for type A is Dexron as far as I’m aware. Im using Dexron III.

I feel bad that you put all that work into cleaning that valve body.even pumping the fluid out,the amount of sludge left in everything else is going to completely plug everything else when you start pumping fluid.should have pulled the trans and cleaned and resealed it.i appreciate the low budget approach,but will cause more work later.
@freemansgarage6 ай бұрын
I hear ya. Thing is the dang rear axle & suspension would have to come out because of the torque tube. There’s a lot of collateral damage during the process that is unavoidable. That’s why I’ve just been gritting my teeth & shoving my arm up there.
@oldschoolcars33186 ай бұрын
That is a negatory! He will likely add Seafoam trans tune which specifically has gel destructive powers. By pumping through cloth you can monitor what is coming out. By running the final fluid through a fuel filter you get invisible particles out and you get to re use the fluid.
