I followed the Way away for years , and I have followed Winging it with Ash since its launch. I enjoy your content particularly when you venture to Italy. The only way I can think of increasing numbers is doing some collaborations with other you tubers who have bigger audiences. You did it in the past on your other channel so I imagine you have some contacts. Good luck any way , I am sure numbers will pick up soon.

I watched The Way Away and this channel. recently I haven’t been watching your vids or any travel vids as much lately. Why? I think I’m burnt out on watching travel vids. I’m working overtime to pay bills so I don’t have the time and the last thing I want to watch is someone else on vacation. I don’t mean to be mean but I think the interest in it is declining. I use to support channels I loved financially but I stopped. My heating bill just doubled and I don’t have extra. Go home. Set up a home and then travel here and there. That was my fave part of this channel. It was relatable.

A couple of people I follow on KZbin have mentioned recently that their views and growth have slowed or even sunk for some reason and it seemed that for some reason KZbin wasn't pushing it to people. He asked followers to go to the search, put in the title of his channel and then click on any of his videos that came up in the results, like if not already liked and to keep doing that for a while. Apparently, that can kick start YT into recommending you more. Apparently, it worked so if we can all do that for a few minutes it might help.

When I moved to New Zealand (from the UK) thought hard about my family and particularly my dad, who was already in his 80s. I decided on two things: 1. Even though New Zealand is far away, it is still only a day away. Getting back to England in an emergency was difficult and expensive, but not impossible. 2. In life, it's important to move forward. The greatest gift that we can give our parents is to be happy and successful in our lives. And being far away doesn't stop us thinking about loved ones and keeping in touch.

Oh hunny I just want to give you hug! I am currently learning French, I am taking lessons at my local Alliance de France. I never realized how hard it was learning a new language. I feel it could easily be considered a part time job, heck even a full time one! I go to all of my classes, plus I use supporting programs like Duo Lingo and Pimsleur. I am struggling, A LOT..... but I have given myself a few years to become proficient before I move. I think that is why you are so overwhelmed. Give yourself a bit of Grace. You Can Do This! We are here for you!

My husband and i are doing the same. Trying to learn French, and hopefully become proficient, before we move. Plan to move to France in the next few years.... So hopefully learning the language first will make it easier. I def noticed that it's harder to learn and retain the knowledge than it used to be when I was younger

Very touching video. I remember your positivity at home talking about wanting to work maybe as a flight attendant and also travel. You share often that you love It there. It seems like also there is a void in a few areas and maybe going home in time would be a good reboot to starting a new chapter. It’s a change of direction which is the great part about growing.

@WingingItWithAsh I'm going to be honest Ash, and speak from too many years experience. You are showing the classic signs of missing being in a secure relationship. You probably think not, but trying to resurrect The Way Away was trying to return to happier times. You're now at a crossroads, and you have to make some tough choices. Most guys of your age will be looking to, or already have started to put down roots and looking to settle with a job, wife, and family. There will be some that still want the globe trotting life, but not your average guy. I've never wanted to tour the world, but I can see the attraction for you, as your ex was a part of it for a long time. You have to make some choices as the years soon pass, and if you're looking to have a family, it's more involved, the nearer you get to 40. You need to be thinking ahead, to where you really see yourself settling long term. I hope It's been of use to you, but please choose carefully and find someone that is still going to stick around through the good and bad times.

@@chiaweinam Yes, I followed their The Way Away for some time, and I've seen Ash putting on the brave face and seem to move on after the split. Having lost my wife to illness a few years ago, I know how hard it will be to make sure you find what you really want. Sometimes it takes a stranger to say the truth to you and make you see you can't dwell on the past too much or the years pass by before you realise. It's a shame to see her so unhappy, and unsure which way she needs to go. I'm a pretty good judge of peoples emotions, and it's quite clear that Ash needs to be looking at where she really would like to be in say 10+ years, not a short term plan. But the difficult part is findings that person that will be there with you all the way.

I've been following you since way away a few years ago and must say that a lot of your videos inspired me. Being an expat is not easy, I totally understand you, I am born Brazilian to Portuguese parents and we have lived in different countries. When I was younger moving and learning new languages was easy, this way I've learned 4 languages easily, however, 5 years ago I moved to Denmark for a job (thankfully I don't have to go through these visa processes due to my Portuguese nationality) and I struggled so much to learn some Danish and integrate, I worked full time in an office and had classes twice a week for 3 hours, but my brain was just like no, I was already exhausted by the end of the day. At some point I dropped the classes after the first module, I couldn't work full time and learn danish at the same time, I'm in my early 30s nowadays and it's not like when I was a teenager. Also, you feel like nowhere is home, back in Brazil and Portugal I don't feel like this is my home anymore, but neither is Denmark, At the end of the day I understood that home is where the heart is and slowly started saying that home is where I'm physically at and if I move to another place that will be my home, and Denmark, Brazil, Portugal, France and the US will be in the past, a few beautiful chapters of my life. Do I see myself living in Brazil or Portugal again? Maybe when I get much older? Another point, being away from family is not easy, but being too close isn't pleasant either - my siblings are closer and always complain. I always think well if my mom lives another 30 years, I may see her only 30 or 40 times since I have my life with my partner, I travel to different places and not necessarily to see my family every time. The hardest I noticed was when my partner's mother passed away during the pandemic and we couldn't attend the funeral, that was heartbreaking to an unimaginable level and well it is what it is. Nowadays, I understand I have to focus only on the positive aspects and understand that there are drawbacks and that's normal, it's life, this way I'm coping better.

This said it is natural that there is something else that is not seen in the videos. I hope it is mostly good anyway. I guess I'm one of the followers who doesn't have real preference if it is you traveling or talking how learning spanish or comparing cultural differences or cooking or showing the new apartment. I kinda enjoy them all. 😊 Stay strong and try to have fun and enjoy.

Ashley everything you say about language learning is entirely normal. Just to reassure you that you will get there but it takes so much more time than people think. It has taken me 5 years to get there with French but it’s still hard. Keep going. Please don’t give up! I think you’ve done so well to go and live in Europe and experience so many things both ups and downs. You’re an amazing person and your spirit is beautiful. I’ve said this so many times but your smile and outlook on life is such a positive thing in the world. Wherever you are I love watching your content. I loved your little house in the USA when you worked in the dentist. I loved your travel videos. I’ve loved watching your Spain videos. Basically the core subscribers aren’t going anywhere. It’s all so normal to feel this way when you live away from your home country. I moved from the U.K. to Australia after travelling Europe for years. I’m also in my 30s and craving security and familiarity and having to renew my visa over here in Australia every 2 years is hard, it just makes everything feel temporary. It’s like living in limbo sometimes and being so far away from my friend group is heartbreaking.

Dear Ashley, watching your video right now makes me pick up on a few things. Trying and fighting to makes things work is what is not working out for you. The Way Away was something from your past, maybe it's time to let it go and leave it in the past. If things feels like a huge struggle, it's not your path. It's ok to make new desicions and let things go. Watching your video right now, makes it feels like that is the lessons you have to learn right now. You simply can't carry everything. Sending you so much love, you'll get there ❤

I am no longer posting there and I am glad I tried but I don't see it as a benefit to me anymore so I am happy to let it go. :) I do think in life there are things worth fighting for and it may be hard at times but there is something about fighting for what you want and I will continue pressing through, trusting the good will out weigh the bad. Thank you for caring. -Ash

Hi Ashley. I'm so sorry for your lose of your grandmother. I know it's a big struggle to move abroad and you are much stronger than I am, it's also something I have been dreaming about but I'm too afraid to fulfill my dreams. I have been following your Channel WIWA since the start but usually I watch the videos later due to my working hours and long days at work. I know how hard it's to learning a new language but I think you chose the better method than I did, you will hear and have to practice the language every day but I went to the class once a week and hardly heard it anywhere outside the class. Twice I started from the beginnings and now it's on hold again because of the situation in Russia and I don't think I will start it a third time anymore. You are doing a good job inspiring people everywhere to travel and explore new things. ❤❤

I'm always impressed by people who are able to strike out on their own, move to another country where they don't know anyone and then successfully overcome the challenges. I have traveled solo and experienced the loneliness of not being near loved ones but that doesn't compare to permanently living without your family nearby which you have done. My suggestions are to try to focus on the things that you have accomplished and all of the small achievements that you have had. With regard to Spanish, I have been studying Spanish for a year and a half and know the sinking feeling when I am in my online class with students from all over the world and can't get my conjugations right or forget my vocabulary. It takes several years to truly become fluent in a foreign language. But the times that I do get the answers right are what keep me going with Spanish. With regards to income, have you thought of becoming an English teacher in Italki or a similar platform? I have practiced with several Spanish speaking people from Mexico who are certified teachers or community teachers and who are gradually building their number of students and income. With your personality, I am sure you would do well as an English teacher in Italki.

You have come so far, done so much, and all this in the midst of some fairly tricky life scenarios! It’s hard to keep going, but always remember that you are brilliant, powerful, and creative. You can be so proud of yourself. You have an adventurous heart, with adventures often comes the feeling of failure, I think that’s (unfortunately) normal because you are stepping into new situations every day. You are a fighter, a strong women who wants to leave her comfort zone, turning her dreams and ideas into action. And that’s absolutely amazing. So many people are unhappy their whole life because they are afraid of the outcome of a change. You are taking the chance, you are brave and willing to grow, even if the outcome might be ugly sometimes. At one point you might have to listen to your heart but whatever it says: you did it and that’s never a failure. Much love and strength and enjoy those days with your family.

Hi Ash. I just wanted to say that you are amazing at what you do and the content you create. KZbin is a tough platform to grow on, I think. But YOU are growing by opening yourself up like this. You are creating the feelings we want to feel: inspiration, happiness, love and so much more. You are such a loving person. I would love to see more of that through your videos. Activities that make you happy in Spain, what you do, shop and eat. Get tips on where to go on a budget where you are. Free places to visit to get great experiences with art and culture. You are remarkable at getting out to people and we feel blessed to see your videos. I truly wish you the best and I hope to see more happiness and love from you.

It’s great that you’ve done the Wales trip, the Paris holiday, the Spanish life and studying, plus the side trips you’ve been able to do, but you obviously need more financial security behind you, and atm more emotional security from family and friends. Go back home for a while. Get another job like the dentist office job you had in the States before the Wales trip. Consolidate your finances, then you’ll be in a way better position to be more flexible and do the travel you really want to do, without relying on the unpredictable Facebook money or trying to pick up the odd casual other jobs which don’t guarantee security for you.

Ash, my job was eliminated two months ago, after having moved our family and bought a home two years ago for that job, in a city where we know no one. I’ve applied for more than 350 jobs including a ton remotely. It is soooooo hard right now in this economy, and it’s not getting better. I have been wrestling hard with God about this. “Really? Really?” And in your case, adding your grief? 😢 But I see the worth in this struggle. To keep trying. To persevere and thrive. To pivot where needed. Just know it is 💯% ok to not be ok. You are not alone. You have a community here. Do not be afraid to reach out to this group you share your life with. Us included. We believe in you. We believe in your journey, whatever it turns into. We believe in you.

Thank you for your encouragement and I am so proud of your positivity and willingness to encourage me. Its amazing and please share with me your praise report :) When something better comes along. -Ash

Expectations and reality are almost never going to be on par. What makes you stong is how you rebound to adapting from that "ideal" you envisionned vs reality. And I know you are strong like that and can do it. KZbin itself will not be enough. Your side plans of becoming a guide in Barcelona for example can help, as well as remote work (and it is hard to get a good one that matches you can do/are looking for, but it does not come in weeks/not even months: keep pushing and looking. Do not ever believe "you are not enough": you are worth your dreams and more and with your strength you can eventually accomplish them. Down moments are bound to happen in every one that is not a robot and human: just know you are there and can rebound

Condolences on the passing of your Grandma Ash. Look, we can all tell you that everything will be OK, and to keep going. Reality is - you have to pay the bills. KZbin is not easy, and you know having had a very successful channel that the struggle is real. I love watching you, and enjoy the travel videos the most. That is how we originally found you with Way Away. You have gone through a lot in the last few years, and I admire you for taking on the challenges that you have, like moving to Spain. Like some others have suggested, maybe collaborate with some of the channels you have in the past to bring in more viewers! We will stand by you whatever you chose to do. Sending you a hug. - Coreen

I encourage you to make the content that you would like us to see, as opposed to what you think the viewers want. Please take time for yourself as you need. Potting plants in the sunshine sounds wonderful...an important part of my life is learning how to live with myself, appreciating the silence within and without, and deciding what it is that I really have to say when breaking this silence. To me, this is learning to live a meaningful life, having said what I needed to say, and hopefully, having done what I needed to do. Sounds like you’re on the right track...keep going, Ash ✌️❤️😊

I'm so sorry for the loss of your grandmother. It sounds like you've had everything hit at once. I've been experiencing that a lot lately too. I live away from home too, and notice that we get good at compartmentalizing... but when the 2 versions of our worlds collide, or I have to miss important things in my "other life" it can get bad. Always keep in mind that 2 things can be true at once. Hang in there.

My heart goes out to you. ❤ Even though I don't live in another country, my husband, children, and I all live many hundreds of miles away from the nearest relatives (my husband is a fellow Washingtonian). We've been away for nearly a decade, and have missed many events (his mother's passing is one that was really hard); as well as going through major life events without family (all our children were born since we moved here). Some days are almost unbearable; yet, we, too, know we're where God directed us. I pray He will give you the comfort and clarity you seek.❤

Ashley... when your parents come back.... make sure they understand how you are. Don't sugar coat your emotions. I'm so sorry about your Grandma.... that has to be the most difficult thing... and the mind plays many tricks and what ifs when dealing with things like this. Since you've repeated several times your need for security, family, and emotional needs... I'd really say that you'd be wise to make the inevitable list (positives/negatives of living far away from home) and see where you end up. The older I've gotten the more I've realized that we don't always get exactly what we want when we want it... sometimes we're forced to change directions for a time to eventually succeed. Hugs to you.
