Welcome back ! The so called KING pin is the 5th wheel pin < kingpins are on front axles > plus last job hooking up is to check lights & number plate on the rear of the trailor. Quite a few newbies watch your vids so its important .
@lukecinahgv5 жыл бұрын
Cheers mate 😁 Number plate was already attached as it's "my trailer" it stays on 99% of the time. And lights were a checked during the rest of my checks off camera. But yes you're absolutely correct. I was only showing how to couple up using the "black" system.

@lukecinahgv3 жыл бұрын
You don’t need to check trailer brake if you know it’s already turned off (which I did) and you don’t need to check to see if the locking bar is across because that is what the tug test Is for 👍🏻

Just to confirm. It isn't out. My wheel is slightly turning to the right and the right hand side steering light has turned on. If I turn the wheel to the left, then the right switches of and the left goes on. While it's dark out it enables the driver to see slightly more while turning. I'm 6ft 1 personally......I am a HGV driving assessor and HGV driving instructor and know that driving examiners will mark you down for hooking up your way so it's bad practice
@lukecinahgv5 жыл бұрын
@@christopherhumphreys7052 That's strange. I was never told this by my HGV instructor. He always told me to put the airlines on first followed by electrical cables. I don't really see how putting him in a certain order effects anything anyway... Anyway I did as he said during my exam. I received only one minor throughout the whole test which was regarding a question at the beginning involving how I would check my load was secure. I didn't mention anything about checking the weight. I did not receive a minor for connecting the trailer airlines first. Maybe it's different where you're from? If thats so.. then that means it's not a universal thing. Some examiners are marking down and some are not. Therefore there is no real right or wrong way.

Numberplate was already attached 😂. I'm guessing others would be checking the trailer brake is on first, then checking the condition of the trailer, after coupling up check the lights? All of course we're done off camera 😂.

First of: LION POWER ftw. secondly, ALWAYS look with a flashlight under the 5th wheel to check if the bar is closed on the the kingpin, only that way you can be 100% sure it actually is, just pulling the handle is not enough because it can seem like its locked on the tug test but that can in some rare cases cheat you. just to let you know ;-)

Luce, buddy, when u do your tug test hit the pedal harder that tug test was a joke. Always connect the lines starting from the red one keeps your trousers clean for longer and never start your engine from outside the cab.
@k.t.80845 жыл бұрын
@Jimmy De'Souza hard means hard. That hard so you get convinced the pin is locked. I had an incident that 5th wheel friction was so immence that the engine died and there was feeling of a locked pin. When i bent under for the clip I realised that it was a false lock and started sweating. Real tug test mean wheels spinning, trailer dragging just to make sure. And nothing will get damaged. These pins and jaws are designed to pull the earth dont worry about that. Ive seen a tug hanging from a bridge on its 5th wheel connection only.

the camera doesn't give much away apart from the fact that you were going to enter the main road from a side junction by the looks, as the road markings have warn away. but you had the giveway line going right the way across the road, so therefore if you pulled out and the van crashed into you, then it would be your fault for the accident. yes the van had a giveway to oncoming traffic, and as such then the van had right of way over the side junction until you had safely crossed over onto the correct side of the road, and gone down the road so your trailer wasn't on his side of the road, then you would be classed as oncoming traffic. then the van would have been in the wrong. side junctions aren't classed as oncoming traffic until on the main road. not to be nassty to you Luke, just stating my understanding of how the police would probably look at it if there was an accident. and my personal understanding of the law.
