I’m so jelly 😭 $130 was a hefty price for the 2 Adept that I don’t own yet. I have a sick habit of just wanting to try and touch formulas so I just would’ve been happy with trying a $30 palette.

So my friend Rupy confirmed with Adept that they do not manufacturer the ItsBel and Alien eyeshadows, but they do offer white labeling. Also, this is all on the Adept website, they let go of the rights to their “old” formula to purchase a new formula that will be theirs. So what I think we could deduct from that is that the “formula” or the shades they no longer own is getting offered now to these indie brands, and it could be multiple manufacturers not just one, especially because you mentioned the ingredients are different. This then makes me wonder if it’s just similar/same pigments being offered that have this super shiny characteristic but are put together in a formula differently? But I’m just assuming here and we’ll never know unless we worked in this industry. But does it really matter that much? People should just buy whatever would be their preference, so if you want a 9 pan shimmer palette that is affordable get its bel, if you want more shades, and unique shifts like the Ninhydrin and are willing to pay more than get that. Keeping in mind that those are LE.

Couldn’t agree more about “does it really matter?” - so many brands have similar formulas and no one formula is one brands unless they make their own. I think it’s definitely looking at the factors that help you decide what you want to buy you should be looking at: affordability, colour story, ingredients, packaging if that’s a factor for you, etc.

I know adept had these shades for a long time. I remember when ACI came out. I scratched my head and said hmmmm looks like the diamonds formula to me. I’m glad there moving on. Everything is sold out on there website anyway

So the only reason I believe the ingredients are diff in say they sugar drizzle and the it’s bel, is Bc they have diff shades. If you could compare the exact same shade I’m sure it’s the same formila

@@Mjones5018 yeah I was talking to someone else who said that might not even be the actual formula. It could just be the formula of one particular shade but they all might not have the same. Who knows. Tbh like Milly said I don’t think we’ll ever really know unless we’re in that whole side of things.

I don't think I'm going to do pre-orders anymore. That's what I figured would happen & that was a lot of money. I ordered the break the rules palette and both adept palettes. I had to jump on it if I wanted them. Which doesn't give you a chance to see what one is like before you order the other one. I really want to support the indie brands but the way they are doing things makes it hard.😊💯

The same thing happened to me and this is exactly why I avoid buying from indie brands that do private labeling. At the time nobody had made the connection and I hadn't seen anything like Break the Rules. I get why brands may need to do this but next time I'll stick to my guns and pass

Hey question, I order the Break The Rules palette this morning (can’t wait 😍) and I thought on my order confirmation it said 3-4 weeks till shipping, but another comment here said they also just ordered it and won’t get it till August? I ordered the ItsBel palette because I found the Adept palettes too big and overwhelming for an all shimmer palette. Too many of the colors are similar for me to keep track of. I liked that all of the shades in the Break The Rules palette are very different from each other.

I've always wanted to try Adept Cosmetics but their international shipping rates are beyond ridiculous - I'm in Australia so I'm used to paying a bit for shipping when it comes to indie brands, but Adept's rates are like four times more expensive than usual. Meanwhile Bel Cosmetics offers free international shipping over $60! I'm placing my order now!!

For all the drama: Do people not understand that all huge cosmetics brand's do this and that basically all the formula from foundation, eyeshdows, etc are all shared. This is nothing new except the fact that it's an indie brand doing this. Good for her!

I don’t think anyone is concerned except for maybe buying duplicate shadows you may already own. I don’t mind if a palette has 1 or 2 shades I may have similar in my collection…. But, I def don’t want to purchase a palette only to realize that I have all the shadows in that palette in other palettes. Watching reviews and looking at photos can help. But, honestly, unless it’s an actual comparison video- it can be extremely hard to discern that you already own the shades because no matter how good the camera - there are just some things that can’t be conveyed through a photo or video. So many of my shadows I purchased after watching tons of videos and I’m still gobsmacked when I get them in my hands because they have shifts or sparkles that I just couldn’t see from the photos.

I couldn't find a dupe for stay radical in the BTR pallette. I looked thru all my Menagerie, Adept and Glam shop shades they all have the same high shine, almost wet feel. Couldn't find anything similar from Devinah either. Stay radical was a unique shadow indeed, it shifted blue(on me) and green which made it harder to dupe ❤ eager 4 more is absolutely STUNNING it is the shiniest wet looking green shimmer I've ever seen

I have the Adept palettes and almost bought Break the Rules but now I'm really glad I didn't. I've seen about 5 indie brands in the last week or 2 release palettes that are all dupes with 1 or 2 shade differences... not sure that I'll be buying anymore of these all duochrome palettes for a while if they're all essentially the same.

It's so interesting, how people's preferences vary. Like, you and I love non matte shadows and they raise the value of a palette while for Angelica Nyquist they reduce the value of a palette unless they are super unique, because she prefers mattes. And I think this is why companies release palettes with multiple formulas ☺️

Annette did a video with the alien cosmetics lore and serendipity palettes and she found some of the duochromes in those were identical to the it's bel palette. I'd recommend checking out the alien all I ever wanted palette if they're all super similar bc it has the most shades and they're also so so pretty🖤🖤🖤

There has been about 4 of these duo chrome palette releases this past week. And like about an additional 3 more this past month or so. I'm glad to see these type of shadows becoming more available. I got the Sugar Drizzle Polish one on Monday, and it's really nice. I'm glad I held out, some of them so far were so expensive and there was a mad rush going on for others. A customer needs to weigh - the company, reviews, ingredients, packaging theme, color story, and pricing - and pick the one they like the best.

Aah thank you so much for this! I just snagged Break the Rules on the latest pre-order, and I'm so excited! I've been meaning to make a purchase from Adept for ages, and now I know to go for Ninhydrin over Plain Jane if I go for a pre-made palette over building my own. Lol. Yeah, there definitely has to be a typo or something going on, because there is *NO WAY* that a nine pan palette has 124g of product (that would mean each pan of shadow would have to contain a little over 13g of product... Which is more than *most* face powders have) Lol. If I had to guess I would say at most, it would contain 18g of product (if each pan contained 2g of product). But I doubt each pan of shadow has 2 full grams. I think the average gram per pan of shadow is between 1.5g and 1.7g. The entire nine pan palette likely contains between 13.5g and 15.3g total.

I got a palette from Bella beauty blog and I could find every shade but 2 in my Adept palettes (Plain Jane and Ninhydrin and All I ever Wanted (Alien Cosmetics). Like they felt like same formula dupes. So, that was a tad disappointing!

I have PJ & Ninhydrin, but I kept eyeing that peach shade in BTR longingly... Anyway, it would be awesome to look for cheaper dupes for the Alien Cosmetics “All I Ever Wanted” palette next, particularly the blues...

I wanted to try Adept but I find it irritating that they were difficult to purchase and they are limited. Too much of a hassle to bother, especially since the Bel palette looks basically the same. Pretty sure glam shop pl is the same stuff as well. I still love my plain jane pallet and don’t regret buying it. My ninhydrin pallet is stunning and I plan to buy the new one buy adapt . Don’t know the name

I think Glam shops are different. Some of the swatches and colors look pretty similar but the formulas are totally different. Glam shop has a flaky texture while Its bel/Adept is more of a creamy flaky texture. Glam shop and Bernovich are dupes tho. Glamshop just has a much bigger selection. I prefer Glamshop

So the main reason why you could look at the it’s bel palette and another, like the sugar drizzle or the plain Jane palette- and the ingredients list be diff: it’s because the ingredients listed are for all shades. So if the It’sBel has 2 diff shades from a diff palette and the other palette has 2 diff shades- that’s why their ingredients can appear different. If you could look at shadow by shadow- I’m sure it would be a lot similar. Also- yeah these aren’t ‘adept’ shadows- it’s based on the old adept formula. It has nothing to actually do with adept

Just started watching but every time someone compared the break the rules palette to plain jane I felt like they should've included the 4 extra ACI shades because they cover what the palette itself doesn't and I've been wanting to see a comparison including those extra aci shades

Just bought the set with the mirror, they didn't have the palette by itself available. I wish they had single shades too though, because I would've bought some!

Can you depot the Its Bel Cosmetics shadows to use in custom magnetic palettes as well as the Adept?

Thanks for this one Amy. I do have to say now I'm really concerned because I have one of the it's bel in a single and no matter if I use a finger or brush I can't get any color to really transfer to my lid. Now, I have both ninhydrin and plain Jane coming and it the formula is so similar to the it's bel I'm going to be MASSIVELY disappointed.

Hey Amy, will you be testing out the new GMG Pastel Dreams palette? I'm not sure if you've mentioned that or not so I wanted to ask. And maybe compare it to your pastel singles from GMG because I'm interested to see how they compare and differ from one another.

She said in a previous video (full face of things my subscribers told me I made them buy was the video idea) that she does not like to support that brand on camera anymore- if you watch the fancy face’s video about it, Tina ’ goes into great detail about why GMG is a problematic brand. After watching the video I certainly don’t want to support GMG anymore even though I desperately want the pastel dreams palette :/

I just recently bought both of those palettes. But honestly, in my defence, I'm new to these kinds of shadows, so I didn't see the similarities like you do. I haven't got either of them yet and wish now I could change my Adept palette since I won't be getting it for a couple more months, but it is what it is!! I'll be using them every day probably, so I'll just have a back-up!

I'm really disappointed cause I just got break the rules and I have Plain Jane and the other 5 eyeshadows on preorders. Maybe Adept will let me switch it to Nynhydrin with less dupes

It's interesting that itsbel is a private labelled product but adept isnt (nothing wrong with private labelling) and the shadows arebasically dupes. it just kinda shows that pricing can really vary based on the extra work of hand pressing and such. Again nothing wrong with itsbel as they have been very transparent on their IG about this and the owner seems to genuinely work hard and do research. Maybe that's also why you can't see the oz of the shadows.

From what I heard is Adept sold their formula which is why your seeing it pop up in all these palettes and why Adpet has retired these palettes

*Does anyone know the brand that Adept cosmetics got this ACD formula from?* I just know it was a huge indie brand's that discontinued it 8 years ago to some controversy. She changed it a bit then called it ACD. Just want to know the TEA! 🍵
