I was trying to convince my wife and two children that Burger Queen really did exist. I'm 46 years old, and I remember going to Burger Queen as a kid and being excited to go! I lived in Kentucky with my grandmother for a year of my life when I was 2 years old. I don't remember what town but I think it was either in or near Louisville (which is where I think my Grandmother and Aunt Sheryl lived)..but I do remember being in the back seat of a vehicle and seeing Burger Queen from the highway and being so excited that they were taking me. Those memories...are the memories of a 2 year old from 44 years ago in 1979.... Nobody believed me until I showed them this video...so...thank you for that!!

I worked at the Burger Queen in Frankfort Kentucky while I was in high school through the early to mid 70's. The salad bar didn't actually come in until shortly before the transition to the Druther's branding. Until the there was a condiments stand so you could add extra pickles, onion, mustard, etc to your burger. That was also about the time they switched from frozen pre-breaded fish products to in store batter dipped fish like you would get at Long John Silvers. The chicken and fish dinners were actually pretty tasty there. The fish sandwiches were on a thick light rye sandwich bread and they were also quite good.

In 1978 my Little League Baseball team the "Cape Coral Giants" were sponsored by Burger Queen and before our first game of the season, the Burger Queen owner informed us that for every game we won, we would all be rewarded with a FREE cheeseburger, small fry, and small coke. We played 28 games that season winning 26, yes we had a 26-2 record. Needless to say, I had a lifetime of Burger Queen during that one Little League season.

I remember my new hometown of Hendersonville, TN had a Burger Queen right next to our church when we moved there late in 1976. I don't remember my family ever eating there, and it only lasted another year or two before going out of business. I also remember seeing a Burger Queen tv ad once or twice which had the Burger Queen mascot promoting three different meals for kids, fried chicken (which appeared to be just one drumstick in each meal), fish sandwiches, and cheeseburgers.

Yep, never heard of them. But I love the confidence that burger places had back in the 50s when they would advertise their price on their signs. We had a Burger Queen where I grew up. Don't think it was open very long. This would have been back in the late 60s up to the early 70s. It was located in Prospect Park, Pa. Building now houses a used car dealer. It was the place to go at night and meet up with your friends. Remember this was before cell phones so it was always interesting to see who showed up with a car and weed. Long time ago....but the memories are still there.

Went there whenever my family drove to eastern Kentucky to visit relatives. Two distinct memories of the place. First, the shakes were HUGE. When you ordered a large shake you got something that came in the large beverage cup, not a step down like at other places. Second, explaining to my friends back in Ohio it was Burger Queen, not Burger King. They seemed confused as was I until I saw one. Bonus: Renaming to Druther's seemed unnecessary. At first I thought that Burger Queen got bought out by somebody else. At the time, there were other restaurants like Rax in Ohio that were theoretically one type of restaurant (Rax was a competitor to Arby's and had a similar menu originally), but had a variety of food.

Saw one in Connecticut and a few between there and Washington D.C.. Their signature sandwich was similar to a big Mac only better. At one point they started selling chicken and somehow KFC became involved. Eventually taking over the chain and changed the name and dropped the burgers. At least that's the impression that I got. WOW ! I have'nt thought about Burger Queen in years. When I moved to Ft. Myers, Fl. early 1971, there was a Burger Queen on Palm Beach Boulevard in east Ft. Myers. I don't remember when it closed up. The building is still there. But it is a used car lot and sales office now.

Honestly, I'm a 2000s person yet Burger Queen/Druther's sounded like it was amazing! While Queenie Bee creeps me out a bit, I do like Andy Dandytale. And seeing the food in the commercials for the chain makes me wish Druther's stayed Druther's. It looked so tasty! I like Dairy Queen, but Druther's looked amazing!

There was a Burger Queen in my town. It was ok, better than some that were better known, but that Queenie Bee mascot managed to be both ridiculous and terrifying at the same time. Trivia: pretty sure the guy to the left of the Queenie Bee mascot at 7:56 is the then-governor of Ky., Gov. Carroll.
