I live in Florida and close by to St.Pete. It is a pretty accepting place but besides there, our governor has really attracted not the most accepting people here to say the least, so it's getting harder to find places to feel safe from them. Pride had a totally different feel this year there than last year. A quick look at our policies and the LGBTQ+ people leaving and trying to leave, me including, show we're quickly changing from how we used to be. P.s. Some local recommendations; go to the Dali museum, it's great and they change it up all the time. If you like Greek food, Tarpon Springs is a fun little place and Halas has the best desserts. Tarpon still has the original comfortable Florida feel if you want to get a sense of what we are outside of the city(It's near where I was born and raised so I'm bias lol.) Busch Gardens is the best theme park, Disney Springs has the best window shopping(the Orange parking garage is the best place to park btw), Ybor is fun and has rouge chickens walking around, and seriously heed our heat advisories.

I’m a manager at Trader Joe’s in Virginia but know the managers in St Pete. TJ’s is a great place. Also, while you are there, go up to Caladesi Island (not far from St Pete) and rent kayaks together. It’s like being in the Caribbean. Perfect for a day date.

Glad you're both enjoying St. Pete! There is a really nice beach called Pass-a-Grill beach and there is also a small "town" called Gulfport that is right on the waterfront and has a few restaurants and some cute shops. It's also very queer friendly!

As a person who has lived in Florida their entire life. If you are worried about stingrays do something called the stingray shuffle. All you do is shuffle your feet throught the sand as you walk throught the water and it will make the stingrays move out of the way if there are any.
