A few things--didn't know which vid to comment on... I had a 1989 Blazer with the digital dash. It was so cool and I was looking for a vehicle back in the late '90's it convinced me to buy it; I think it's the best dash I've ever driven/owned. Mine always had problem with the odometer lighting up. I found that if I removed the bezel & lens, besides it getting super bright, if I pressed on the odometer, it would then light up. I guess that would mean it may need resoldering. I have another one around here somewhere that I bought as a replacement and sold the S10 to a friend and it (the Blazer) and he are long gone. Otherwise I think it's a really cool dash & layout. Didn't know it fits in a G-body--I have an '84 SS but it has its stock gauges & tach. Second, I never saw the up-Arrow on the left, nor the V6. I can only assume designers over-designed things just in case they wanted to include those features, instead of having to RE-design it later. Third, the tach isn't very accurate--bars are thick and cover a couple or few hundred RPMs; it would have been nice if each hundred had its own bar. I suppose it may be accurate if held at a speed that the tach ends up on a whole #, say 3000 or 5000 it may line up to light the bar and it may coincide with another reading like the ECM. Finally, with the lens off, and the dial turned to full brightness, the dash lights up your face. People on the road can see you. It looks like neon cyan. Maybe it's safer to everybody with it dialed down or the lens on. But, IT'S COOL AS HELL!!

Thanks for the feed back! Yes I think overall it is cool. I love the old 80s look and that’s the main reason I wanted to Install it. I like it so much I did it again on another car. Lol!

Hey man good job on that digital gauge installation. I'm also leaning towards an electrical speedometer for my Buick, but need a bit of help with which components I need to do the job. I'm going to replace the speedometer cable cause it makes noise, currently have a mechanical gauge(aftermarket).
@MrGriffin233 жыл бұрын
Well it just depends on what speedo cluster u go with. It makes it easier to grab all the sensor, hardware and wiring harness from the donor car.
@adrianramirez95303 жыл бұрын
@@MrGriffin23 im thinking of buying an autometer ultra-lite electronic speedo gauge. I swapped the engine and transmission on the car, it currently has the 3.8l turbo as well as the 200r4(it think this is wat the GN has, i keep getting mixed up).
@MrGriffin233 жыл бұрын
@@adrianramirez9530 That’s cool. Yep! That’s the power train set-up in a Turbo Regal. I think those Autometer LCD dashes are pretty dope. I think they fit Gbodys, but not 100% sure.
@adrianramirez95303 жыл бұрын
@@MrGriffin23 thanks man. Im actually doing my own gauge set up on the dash, just not feeling that mechanical speedo and also how i needed an adapter for the speedometer cable to fit onto the aftermarket mechanical gauge was a pain to have on. The cable was pretty much pushing my gauge panel away from the dash😂

Hello, Great look !! Do you know of a way to make the V6 Tach work correctly for a V8 engine with an application you have put together ? Also.. Have you found a way to reset the odometer, so it's correct with the original?
@MrGriffin23 Жыл бұрын
It should work the same. I had a V8 in my Buick. Just might need a Dakota Digital box for the speedo. The odometer is fixed. You would have to send it in to a specialist to get it adjusted if possible.

@@MrGriffin23 Thank you so much for responding. I'm really interested in trying this for me 84 Monte SS. Question: The Tach in this video goes to 6K. The Tach on your other (Buick) install only goes to 5K. Do you know which cluster went up to 6K ? I actually need 7K, but I'm sure that would not be available.
