Yes, singers who gain weight get a stronger voice because the pounds hold and support the lungs and they don`t have to waste so much energy on the singing techniques to hold them in place when filling them with air. That`s why many opera singers in the past, who were and are known for their stunning voices, were often overweight. But that`s true for all singers. Slim singers like Whitney Houston on the other hand have to support their lungs all by themselves.

Elvis’ Last Album release. The Moody Blue Album. Released July 19, 1977 Mine is a “ blue” vinyl Album. Some were black as usual. It’s about the woman he left his wife and children for. Telling him to go back to her.

absolute banger of a song -only song Webber and Rice wrote which wasn't for a show and Webber himself said it meant so much to him that Elvis sang it.

This song was written for Elvis by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. Man leaves his wife and children for another woman and the other woman decides the relationship is not for her so she tells him to go back to his wife. Thus the man says It’s Easy For You but not for me.

It has been mentioned that the song 'Way Down' from the 'Moody Blue' album reached N0.1 on the American Country charts as soon as Elvis very sadly passed away, but it has NOT been mentioned (here in the comments) that it jumped to N0.1 here in the British charts a couple of days after Elvis died and that the original 'single' of 'Way Down' and 'Pledging My Love' has sold REALLY well since August 1977 and has become (in pristine condition) a 'collectors item!'🥰

It's interesting with Elvis's voice or amazing. When we hear him sing Jailhouse rock 1957, Then the same year he does, Take my hand presious Lord. To think that this is the same guy singing in the same year time frame. is unbelievable. I mean he could do this throughout his career.

Wow My Daddy played the Moody Blue Album which was Blue all the time - it was 76 His last - Elvis Presley's Moody Blue album and song charted in multiple ways, including: Moody Blue (song) Elvis's last number one hit in his lifetime, "Moody Blue" topped the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart in February 1977. It also reached number 31 on the Hot 100. Moody Blue (album) Elvis's final album, Moody Blue, reached number three on the Billboard album charts and number one on the Country Albums chart after his death in August 1977. It had already entered the top 40 before his death. Way Down Released as the album's next single, "Way Down" soared to number 18 on the charts after Elvis' death. It was a bigger hit on the country charts, and it had risen to number one in the same week of the death of Presley. Elvis recorded "Moody Blue" in February 1976 in the Jungle Room of his Graceland home. He only performed the song in its entirety once, at a concert in Charlotte, North Carolina on February 21, 1977. This album reached number three on the Billboard album charts after his death, although it had already entered the top 40 before he died. This was the last album by Presley to reach the top 40. Moody Blue was also a number one album on the Country Albums chart.

Elvis was a chameleon, could change his voice easily. He could be "Anyway You Want Me" for his fans. I loved him whether he was being happy, sad, sexy, angry, sweet, lonely, taking us to church or looking for trouble. Thanks, Seph.❤❤❤

Hi Seph! So touched by your perfect reaction as usual AND looking forward to your next load of 'studio' recordings reactions before THE ELVIS passed and then 100's of 'LIVE' versions and Alternate takes after!! If you've got this far in the comments (there's been so many on this one) I met the writers of this song which you've already been told were Andrew Lloyd Webber (who I met 3 times) and Tim Rice (who I met just 1 time) and I would have asked them whether this song was about someone they knew or whether they just thought it would be right for The Elvis to sing! My 2nd favourite 'studio' album from Elvis is the one you have entirely missed out with your unique 'randomness' of choosing the next song to react to: 'From Elvis Presley Boulevard Memphis, Tennessee' released in 1976 and not 1977 like the album 'Moody Blue' where you got This great number from! I believe Elvis DID sing this LIVE just ONCE in concert, must have blown everyone away with his 'emotional' performance! As the 2 writers of this song (1 with the lyrics and 1 with the music) wont be mentioned in the comments of any other Elvis song you react to; i'm going to just quickly mention the fact that Tim Rice wrote ALL the BRILLIANT lyrics for my favourite Rock Opera musical of All time: 'HEATHCLIFF', and Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote ALL the BRILLIANT music for my 2nd favourite Rock musical of All time 'THE WOMAN IN WHITE'.🥰😀

I love this bit at the very start where you think someone is knocking at the door upon hearing the opening toms and you turn your head to look over your right shoulder. You give us a great profile shot where we can get a good look at your freshly cut hair and beard trim. Lookin so sharp. Whoever you go to to get a cut and trim does an amazing job. You look positively radiant. Elvis's voice is definitely growing lower and huskier. I particularly like your description of it as "girthy." Made me chuckle. I usually associate that word with other masculine parts, but I agree it's appropriate here, and may track with Elvis's weight gain at the end of his life. The instrumentation here is particularly lush with lovely piano, emotive bass and electric guitar, delicate acoustic guitar, gentle strings, expressive drums, and celestial female backing vocals. Simply gorgeous.

It's 76 and as far as I'm concerned every song recorded this year is phenomenal! It's one of his best recording years, definitely top five in my book. Those early years can't hold a candle to this. His voice has yet again reached a new level of amazing. The depth and maturity are hypnotizing. You're in for a treat!

I call this song the "Karma" song. In the end, his suffering is nothing compared to that of his wife and children. Staying on the right path of life and doing "the right thing" can be very hard, but doing "the easy thing" often comes with very high interests. One way or the other, in the end, we always get the bill and sometimes doing the right thing doesn`t always pay off. In other words, life`s a bitch!

LOL, you're such a guy. LOL Everyone has already explained he's talking to the woman he left his wife and children for. He left them for that woman and now she's done with him. But he loves her and has no choice but to take her back if "she ever tires of the good life." Yes, this is a later song, 1976 I think and was recorded in the Jungle Room at Graceland for the Moody Blue album. So glad to see you're well. Missed your reactions.

You've skipped an entire album. This song is from his final album, "Moody Blue". The album before "Moody Blue" and after "Today" is called "From Elvis Presley Boulevard, Memphis Tennessee". Some people mistake this as being a live album because of the title. It is a studio album and chronologically you should be doing the songs from it before you do "Moody Blue". Hope that was helpful, Seph.

I'm struggling to think who's that listener in this song. My take (probably partly incorrect) is the following: The singer is speaking to a confidant or a well-meaning person who has some advice that's too simplistic. The singer believes it's easier for that listener to give advice and then to walk away to their easier existence than it is for the singer to live with the choices that he made in the marriage. The singer agonised before walking away, but the listener doesn't seem to empathise with him. If that person were to contact the singer again in a year...or so if the good life wasn't all it was cracked up to be, then, powerlessly, the singer will have to forgive them - it's futile to try to convince someone how hard it all was for the singer. And, true to form, the easy approach will be all that the listener understands. Co-writer Sir Tim Rice said this was composed as a country song for Elvis (and you can certainly hear the twang, and most crucially the thoughtful turn of a country lyric). It's also, I would say one of those British flavoured songs - I can see this song at home on the West End Stage. And credit to Elvis for the way he varies the inflection as he regrets on the line 'I threw it all away.' He really knew how to get to the heart with lyrics and music. Seph: You went from June 1975 to one of the last songs from the last session, in October 1976. I thought that was because of copyright issues, but nope, it was randomness!

Songs like this and others from this era just rub me the wrong way. Man has an affair and leaves his family, then has the audacity to try to shift the blame onto the other woman. Man up and take responsibility for your own actions dude. In a way it's perfect for Elvis because he was largely acting the same way in his own personal life. Doesn't make it any easier to listen to though.
