Tassie Boys Prospecting

Tassie Boys Prospecting

Күн бұрын

Now that winter rains have set in it's getting harder to access the gold on my larger rivers, after researching some history and looking at old trails on maps I discover an old prospectors trail that leads me into a gold bearing creek. Join me on adventure through 7.7 kilometres of gruelling but majestic rainforests of Tasmania on a search to unlock some hidden gold in the bedrock of these ancient creeks.

When detecting in the wakamarina NZ I couldn't figure out why I would constantly find gold above the river mark each time in one spot. I climbed a 5 m bank and found an old river bed that had been water monitored out by the old timers. The gold I was finding was below where they had carved out a sluice run into the bedrock/cliff. The wall they were breaking down with water is still there. It's about 5m high by 5m wide and it's all rounded river rock. You would never have picked a river that high when looking at the local topography

Levi your adventures are top notch! Other than being dry, warm, and on the couch I'd swear I was right there! Somethings been popping in my mind and I'm really feeling it's from my gut and not wishful thinking (I'm pretty good at this with the TV remote lol). You ARE going to find a quartz stringer crossing a stream with gold. Your gut may already be nagging you about a certain stringer.....time to grab little samples from these obscure boondock locations....your odds are way better than most🍻

I agree, and have long realised the inevitability of Levi finally cracken the big boondock bonanza quartz sandstone/calcareous limestone gold vein complex, (Ordovician style) one Silurian silt/sandstone sub aqueous, entirely black smoker enviromental depository day. As far as wild, fairly western terrains covered, no Tasmanian alluvial digger, sluicer, prospector, whatever the preeminent pioneer ilk, has covered the Tasmanian landmass and its myriad creeks and rivers faster, better or more determinedly than our iconic Tassy Boy. Rorocs.

No rain forests here in Arizona so these trips back in time are very cool the second week there were so many spots that looked like great areas to pan even though you didn’t have one I kept talking you to stop but I guess you couldn’t hear me….lol right where those two water ways converged the gravels screamed gold but that’s o lot of material to move to get to the big gold but I’m sure it’s there. Great adventure thanks for sharing see you on the next one for sure👍🏻👊🏻

Hey Levi good to see ya , you look happy and healthy 😀 . I honestly thought that Super Natural British Columbia , has some breath taking views and scenery . They do , but , Tazzy has some amazing broadleaf plants that are huge . We have very similar giant ferns equil in size . Even the colors are equil . But you have far more open land compared to the never ending mountain ranges we have . I understand that your land isn't flat as I said . Also you can see it in the GPS that it's not . Tazzy and surrounding areas have a huge variety of plants and animals that are off the charts . That was a great looking Crayfish , or are they actually ( Yabbies ) in Tazzy or , a variety of the species ? Even though you had to go back.... I'm glad you did . It was a better time for you and you that shiny new to you gold . I often wonder just how old the gold is around the world , before it's seen by man for the first time !! Thanks for taking us along . Fantastic trip/s Levi . Cheers my friend Question Levi...when you are out there in the backcountry , are there any larger predators out there with you ? You already have enough of the deadliest little critters to think about
