A Gold Prospectors Secret!!

A Gold Prospectors BIG secret!!! In this video I go detecting for gold nuggets in the hills of northern Tasmania. Detecting gold along old timers alluvial workings and also in the hills where I have found good gold nuggets and specimens. I'll be using my minelab GPX4500 and be digging up targets with my lucky chum pickax to see what sort of gold I might be able to find.
How much gold will I find this time join the adventure to find out. Also in this video I'll be sharing my BIG / HEAVY secret I've been holding onto for sometime now.

You done good keeping that find under wraps Levi. You gotta do what have to do in order to keep you and your family safe. You are kind of a celeberty now and likely have a few peoples interest. Some people have no since of value or self control. You did good but keeping that location and find to yourself until you could announce it proper like. You got a good head, smart. You'll do fine and go far. Remember, gold is found where you find it. No body needs to know where you found yours. Let them get of the couch and go adventure and prospect them some for themselves. She’s a beauty, Levi! That would definitely be a nugget due to the amount of Gold compared to quartz. Then again, I have never found a gold specimen, ever. Found silver specimens, definitely more rock than silver.

Hello Levi,to find out how much gold You have in Your specimen: weigh suspended in water, multiply the result by 3.1, weigh dry ,multiply that by 1.9, then deduct dry w. from wet w. = amount of gold.I would say anything above 50 % of volume is a nugget , regards, George.

Nice work, Levi. You’re having a good run of late. I kept looking at the land. It’s been 2 years since the fires went through, and while there’s a bit of regrowth, there looks to be a lot that is not going to recover. I went down there several years ago to help with fires south of Stanley and then again in feb 2019 working in remote spots like Nevada Peak, Mt Anne and Precipitous Bluff. So sad to see patches of dead ground down there. Hopefully it will fight back in the coming years and return to some semblance of its past beauty. Stay. safe and put some gloves on if you’re going to pick up random branches and litter. Don’t need a bite to take you off the gold for a while.

Nothing to do with value in my opinion, but a specific gravity test would tell you the % gold, formulas easy to find online. To my eye it is a very beautiful piece indeed. Might clean the surface a bit but that is all I would do to it. Dave at GoldBay would be the chap to know for sure on value and cleaning. Cheers Levi

Bloody awesome video mate, and what an awesome secret you were holding all this time. I've found a specimen/nugget very similar in terms of quartz/gold ratio, though no where near as big (about 8g) -- which I found by scraping top layer of material out of a crevice in the water and I just spotted it in the water glowing up at me. I'd say your specimen looks to definitely be mostly gold (can do a specific gravity test to calculate gold weight), and with it's unique characteristics, could probably be worth more than it's total weight to collectors. These days that's possibly the find of a lifetime for most hobbyist prospectors. Absolute stunner mate, well deserved. And top notch video content/editing mate, I think your channel has made it to the top of my list out of all the prospecting ones at the moment. Keep it up!

I knew there was bigger gold there mate. The old timers didnt shift that much dirt looking for fines. Reckon there is an ironstone reef line running across those hills somewhere, as the nuggets you found are Crystalline and generally very pure 23kt. Nice work mate 🍺

Hey Levi, nice find. I believe that little ounce and half jewel is called or refered to as a "Host Nugget" as it carries the host rock within it. Super nice find, very rare to find.
