Montreal offer to Aho made sense. Carolina offer to KK didn't. 'They reaped what they sowed''. or is it 'play stupid games, win stupid prizes'? Either way, Montreal is free of KK and KK is laughing all the way to the bank. Looks like Carolina lost twice.

Suzuki was not his choice .it was a take it or leave it trade along with Tatar. Bergevin has nothing to do with Suzuki'talent and work ethic. Caulfield fell into his lap because of Cole's size. Bergevin ruined an already depleted organization that was running on a 1970 mentality.

The Finish media should be reminded that KK has an uncontrollable temper. His European junior coaches spoke of it. During the MTL/TBL finals he had a hissy fit on the bench, slammed the door and speared the bench in a rage. That kind of behavoir in the finals is selfish and toxic for the team. He was scratched for the next game and he resented it so much that he was in Carolina soon after. Last year, after Carolina was eliminated, he had temper tantrum in the hallway and beat up the walls with his stick. It's hard to control a person like that. While KK's numbers are concerning in Carolina, they weren't much better in Montreal. He had 5 goals and 17 assists in 82 games. He was an asset in the run to finals, until he lost his temper.

Next season will be his 7th full season, when is he gonna become good? He has shown little in the way of learning or developing. He is and always was a spoiled brat and Carolina should never have given him long term. The Habs wanted to give him a bridge deal and he didn't want it that's why he took the offer sheet in the first place.

He started this season on fire. Was leading them in scoring for almost a month but that offense was driven by where he was in the line-up. Poor Guy. I thought he could be a useful checking center with a little offensive upside maybe replace Jordan staal, but when his offense goes south he ends up deep in dixie. He had 10 points in their first ten games this year. He had 17 in the subsequent 69 games. Carolina has a new owner who is penny wise. He had them offer sheet Kotkaniemi which wasn't a terrible move. The $6 million was ridiculous but he won that contest and he picked up a young potentially good NHL center for money. After that first season 29 points in 69 games how /why could/would you sign him for eight years at $4.82 million. That's making a decision in a fit of pique and making sure everyone knows your decision was right even though it was obviously goofy one upmanship which had nothing to do with improving your team. He wanted to steal the player at any cost and didn't want him stolen back. Congratulations buddy you Won. He also apparently didn't like how much he was paying for an AHL team when his best prospects were US college kids and Russians. Penny wise. I'm not sure what the DeAngelo signing was about? Bringing Orlov in at $7.5 million to have leverage on Pesce and Skjei is not going to work out for him. The Owner has money but he's also a little kookie. I watched a lot of Kotkaniemi in Montreal. He has some skills but he's not good offensively and he's not physical and he's not really a top notch checker. Maybe a 2$ million dollar player in the NHL. I'd have given him two or three years and seen what he could do. He's only 23 but its like pierre luc dubois. He's got lot on mileage on him. Six NHL seasons. 18 goals and half point a game seems to be a hard to reach ceiling for him. You have an idea what he will be. Alex Barkov is a crazy comparison and you would be underpaying by a ton. You have to look at someone like Jordan Staal who was a defensive beast for years and a 40-50 point guy, generally. That's what you had to hope for.

Kid's a spoiled bust. Provides no physicality whatsoever & has yet to drop the gloves all season even while relegated to the 4th line. Only points he generated during the last 62 games of the regular season were during garbage time late in lopsided games. Second game of the playoff series with the Rangers captured how entirely useless he has been in his last 70 starts. Stefan Noesen is tussling with D'Andre Miller along the boards in the first period & Kotkanaiemi stands there the entire time & does nothing. Makes no effort to be a good teammate & come to Noesen's aid (Miller is a very big & strong hombre & difficult to handle even for Noesen). Don Waddell needs to loose his job over this entire fiasco of refusing to resign Vincent Trocheck along with his mistreatment of Nino Nedierrieter in favor of this putz. The lack of quality Center depth on the Canes roster is the primary reason they're losing to the Rangers in this years playoffs. Beyond lame!
@OneLine122
@OneLine122 24 күн бұрын
Sure he can be blamed. It's all on him. He accepted an oversized contract in order to spite his team and knowing he would have bigger competition for his post. You'd think he would try to prove himself more than anybody else, but instead he is a flop and can barely make the fourth line. So yes, with what he has done, his type of contract and his performance, his career is probably over in the NHL. He failed completely and it's entirely his own fault. At best he might get a tryout, but I doubt it.

You're quite the apologist for KK. The guy can't finish (no pun intended). It's that simple. If he hasn't figured out a way to get the puck into the net by now, it probably won't happen. I can't see why another team would want to trade for someone who's afraid to get his hands dirty and his mouth bloodied by mixing it up in front of the net. carolina is not overly unlucky as compared to anyone else in the playoffs. go back to the box score of the series against the panthers last year and you see the same disparity in shots, yet they got swept. It all comes down to the scheme of that team and their entire existence is to put as many low quality chances on net as possible and posses the puck as much as possible. Their D pinches in along the boards extremely aggressively and as a result their Forwards are constanly prepared to turn and race to cover the point, which leads to possession, but incoherent offense. Yes, its smothering at times, and yes it works well all year, but at this stage of the season your facing the elite teams in the league and they are not as talented as NYR or FLA.....end of story

Honestly the 5 mil deal is going to age better than people think. If he ends up being a third line center with scoring upside, that 5 mil a year will be a bargain in just a couple years. Let the kid grow with less expectations. Letting trocheck go was a mistake but no one mentioned that trocheck told the canes he wasn’t resigning. He wanted to go to a bigger market like ny. He was NEVER going to stay with the canes. Has kk been disappointing? Yup. Can he eventually be a Jordan staal like 2 way center? Potentially. I think the contract will age better than people think. Buying him out with that many years isn’t going to happen. He’s still only what, 22 or 23? Laff was a rangers bust until he finally broke out this past year. Gotta give some players a little more time than others. As stated, overpaid now but will age better down the road.

The MTL obsession with watching KK fail is disgusting and unsettling. And I'm a Habs fan. Unnecessary video imo. We should more-so focus on how the Canes are living a copy paste scenario from last year which, to me, signifies only one thing: The Canes aren't good enough. Sure, they are almost there, but ask the leafs if almost is enough. Can we blame all that on KK? hell no he's barely on the ice. So hows about as a fanbase we stop targeting the kid since at this point it's just clearly jealousy and revenge porn.
