I think the oilers thought that if they signed decent free agents near 1-2 million they would still be the same. But as we are seeing now, they lack that depth in the lines.

imo Drai is overrated: he is a trebouchet, a power play specialist Other than that, a pretty average player As the Oilers PP has been decoded, Drai is less useful

This always happens. It's human nature. What motivation would Leon have to do anything now that he has secured his bag? He could literally coast for the rest of his career and get bought out and then go sign for a winner for league minimum. The problem is the CBA with these ridiculous 8-year contracts. The maximum contract should be 2 years. Year 1 is kinda like a reward for what you did in the previous contract, year 2 is the player having to prove himself for the next contract. The players need to stay hungry. Leon got engaged and it's all downhill with that woman as a distraction.
