Well my friends it's go time for SpaceX's Starship Flight 3. We have actually a lot of detail on that as we now count down only days till a potential flight. It has indeed been an absurd week of flights, one after the other proving that SpaceX are not messing around in 2024.

@@MarcusHouseYou are neglecting to mention the big flaw with starlink. Five to ten second latency issues from all that bouncing and processing. Voice or video calls from New Zealand are impossible. The black spots and failure to make international calls had killed our biggest cell provider. After they got suckered and promised going with Elieons scam link would eliminate them, we now have no coverage except in suburban areas. We are all ditching scam link and going back to our undersea fibre optics.

In the early 80's, watching the Space Shuttle launch for the first time was an awesome sight. I don't think NASA ever expected us to launch so many rockets in a year. Space has become the next frontier. We only had dreams of these days. Now, I get to see space become an excitement again. I came into this world landing on the moon. Maybe I'll go out with the Mars landing.

Right there with you... but I'm starting to have serious doubts about Mars... I'm even concerned with other probe/orbiter/rover missions to the rest of the solar system. Meh, at least I got to watch Neil and Buzz... but it makes me mad that I'm going to miss so much more in what is practically the near future.

Why do people think nasa was just a rocket building branch of the government? They are a scientific research institute. They would only ever imagine sending up the amount of instrumentation they need. Musk had to pull a "space industry" out of his ass (star link) just to keep space x afloat.

My speculation on the IFT-3 flight path is that they’ll launch into the exact same trajectory as before. This way, if the raptors don’t relight for the de-orbit burn, Starship will passively re-enter near Hawaii as a fail-safe.
