While true, using face huggers is the fastest way to get more Xenomorphs for sure, a dead body is still useful. Dead bodies can be used for egg morphing which, on the Romulus, is probably required due to a lack of evidence for a queen. Most of those face huggers wouldn’t last very long with a max time of 120 hours after being freed. If the hive was being smart the creating eggs might be a priority since eggs are highly durable and long lasting.

They've always been shown to be like that, even when they do kill, they're shown to make use of the bodies. Even in this movie it showed the Xeno taking the dead bodies to the nest. Edit for my sanity: in this movie they don’t show you it learning or adapting, they flat out tell you repeatedly what it’s doing or what it’s going to do even tho they haven’t observed it learning or problem solving yet. And the xenomorph was never put into a position to adapt, only react. They should have showed instead of told. Andy flat out says take a gun, it knows it’s a weapon. How?

They’ve been like this from the beginning… and were like this in the dark horse comics and books. If they had a hive/eggs they would try to keep people alive to impregnate. It really was super brutal with her and she genuinely did nothing to deserve it (though I do find it funny when movies justify horrible things happening to certain characters by making them flawed/unlikeable people) Ultimately, I think what she meant thematically hit the whole "visceral femininity" aspect of the entire franchise on the head. It was almost too literal, imo, given the ending. But everything since the very first movie has been at least partially about the horror of s*x and motherhood and childbirth. @AvaTysonWon Suppose that you were sitting down at this table. The napkins are in front of you, which napkin would you take? The one on your ‘left’? Or the one on your ‘right’? The one on your left side? Or the one on your right side? Usually you would take the one on your left side. That is ‘correct’ too. But in a larger sense on society, that is wrong. Perhaps I could even substitute ‘society’ with the ‘Universe’. The correct answer is that ‘It is determined by the one who takes his or her own napkin first.’ …Yes? If the first one takes the napkin to their right, then there’s no choice but for others to also take the ‘right’ napkin. The same goes for the left. Everyone else will take the napkin to their left, because they have no other option. This is ‘society’… Who are the ones that determine the price of land first? There must have been someone who determined the value of money, first. The size of the rails on a train track? The magnitude of electricity? Laws and Regulations? Who was the first to determine these things? Did we all do it, because this is a Republic? Or was it Arbitrary? NO! The one who took the napkin first determined all of these things! The rules of this world are determined by that same principle of ‘right or left?’! In a Society like this table, a state of equilibrium, once one makes the first move, everyone must follow! In every era, this World has been operating by this napkin principle. And the one who ‘takes the napkin first’ must be someone who is respected by all. It’s not that anyone can fulfil this role… Those that are despotic or unworthy will be scorned. And those are the ‘losers’. In the case of this table, the ‘eldest’ or the ‘Master of the party’ will take the napkin first… Because everyone ‘respects’ those individuals.

Actually crazy surprised at how many people seem to have missed the facehugger in the elevator shaft and don't seem to understand how the Alien drones/warriors function. Breed > Kill. Reason the other guy was killed after being pulled up was he was about to start blasting like she did 10 minutes later in the zero grav scene. It literally cuts to the gun then to his death. Once the facehugger latched on I bet it would of just ignored Andy and brought her back down to the little hive they had set up. Has no one watch Aliens before? Bro Rains character is great. I thought the girl who was pregnant was a little better than rain somehow I don’t know I just felt like because she was pregnant she had a better chance of surviving and maybe becoming the main character sadly I was wrong lol I will say that the actor who plays Andy deserves a f*cking award because he played the best synthetic I’ve ever f*cking seen. Yes! And I have to disagree with Charlie here, I actually cared about all of the characters. They gave us just as much as we needed. The main point was that they all wanted to get tf out and hated being exploited at their work. Fairly relatable. Even Bjorn, my least favorite, had a compelling reason to hate Andy. Hopefully Charlie sees this, but in the history of the Xenomorphs and in this movie, we see the Xenomorphs not instantly kill it's prey because their "prime directive" is to procreate. It saved her because they know they need people alive in order for the face huggers to do their thing. They don't know the ship is going to crash so they will continue to do so, like any parasite. They kill certain people that they deem as threats, hence why they killed both of the male characters because they were more aggressive. Rain wasn't armed(like Andy had presumed would be a deterrent), so the threat level was 0%

This movie has a lot of really awesome details that movies haven't explored a ton. Charlie when you talked about the Xenomorph saving her, ill tell you why and I'll tell you why it makes sense in the universe. If you remember in Alien 3, a xeno approaches Ripley, but spares her because Ripley has a chest burster in her at the time. This shows that the Xeno, is not a mindless killer, but works for the hive. And in many comics and games, Xenonorphs show rational thought for the hive. In this case, Rain or Rein, just slaughtered many of the hives drones. This xenomorph was trying to capture her so it could nest her and then a face hugger could do it's thing. It's a thing they do quite often, where they instead of kill outright, they'll capture for later.
@pathofexileexile3 ай бұрын
@penquinz0 During the spoiler part you mentioned, the Xenormorph caught the character to have a face hugger use them. Most of the time the Xenomorphs aren't trying to immediately kill humans they don't see as a threat, they're trying to catch them so they can be impregnated by the face huggers. This happens earlier in the film with another one of the characters and throughout the series.

I also didnt catch on at first bc of how stupid the scene looked, the pregnant woman got snatched to the hive and she got a major injury. It would’ve been better if Rain at least got a tad bit of grazing from a literal razor sharp tail
@Plazma8963 ай бұрын
most unbelievable part of this movie was the "match the room to your body temperature" idea. as soon as they opened the door the temperature shouldve started changing again and they would've been seen. then they had the guy stand still and have a full conversation on the radio while they were meant to be quiet and moving. my eyes rolled so far back into my head

The not running sideways scene had nothing on the terrified biologist scared out of his mind suddenly losing all fear and trying to pet a space cobra that's clearly hostile.

The only critique I had for the movie was the facehugger>chest burster scene. Chest bursters dont burst within minuites of being embedded into a host. We rode so hard on our roots we forgot that the first time we encountered the face hugger and killed it, so much time has passed that when the chest burster scene happened; the entire crew had their guards down and were completely unaware of the danger. This one went from removing the facehugger to the chest burster in the span of a 100 meter dash. Other than that, I absolutely loved the movie.

I thought so too! Although I wonder if maybe these facehuggers were faster acting than normal because of whatever the company had been doing with them in their experiments?? If thats the case i wish it had been more clearly hinted at though
@lukewarmape6033 ай бұрын
The facehuggers they encountered were not freshly hatched - they were incubated/frozen for years. That's my general head canon for how quickly all the stages of their cycle happened anyway. They were more developed than the freshly hatched ones from the original.

It wasn't shot, it was meant to be where the other guy damaged it with the electric cattle prod when it was in the egg. As in that damaged part at the point was meant to demonstrate to the audience that it was a somewhat special xeno (the original one that killed all her friends).
@REDI2UM3 ай бұрын
The Xenomorphs have always had a biomechanical element to them too - so seeing it retain that electric current is just a nod to their nature as 'the perfect organism' and to what Giger implied all those decades ago

Haven't watched it, but a xeno "saving" a human, to me, means only 1 thing, that only a "living" host can give birth to a xeno. So right after catching her, it would've dragged her to the next egg. In other words, it didn't save her. Xeno: 🤨 "Sure, you're welcome, but now bite the pillow, Mr. Facehugger is going in dry, and all the way!"
@hieunguyenrileygekko3 ай бұрын
true, because the scene continues with a facehugger approaching her Rain is the only human in the ship at that point and trying to escape before the collision

nope, in alien vs predator movie, when the black girl is with the predator, trying to save the italian dude - she shoots him before the thing pops out, a good minute or so, considering it takes them like 15 minutes to burst in that movie, is technically enough time for the little alien to not be fully developed. yet the thing bursts out of his chest and the predator snaps its neck
@amanchoosesaslaveobeys65103 ай бұрын
Not really they don't need a living host however they need a queen that gives birth queen and empress are rare old and take a while once the hive reaches massive amounts. they begin to make different types. the other way is through face huggers which is a xeno in juvenile form born from a queen so the queen is vital part of their survival. so here is the cycle 1 queen makes egg 2 face huggers hatch 3chest burster birth after victim is hugged by huggers 4 chest burst become full grown alien somtime later 5 they the alien begin to hunt gather victim for the queen while killing to maintain its own survival lore iffie as to how they choose victims. multiple theories. and when growing in numbers and also begin to differentiate. depending on situation and environment 6 different types of alien based on various evolution and aspects such as if feeding royal jelly 7 a queen is born from the multiple drone if the old one is dead how this isn't explained as far as i can remember. There are different types of aliens Drones Runners Pretomorphs Warriors Workers Crushers Pretorians Then you obviously got the hybrid predalien which is different

There's a lot of logic issues in Romulus too but overall I liked the movie a lot. Acid blood - bunch of stuff. Zero G acid scene is cool but once gravity is restored, wouldn't the initial problem present itself again right away? Gravity is restored, acid falls to floor and you have an implosion. The mouse stuff. The video they watch the mouse experiment on is RIGHT NEXT to the mouse cage which they show you after. They would easily assume that the serum is unstable. They kill the alien in the elevator shaft and the blood doesn't eat through the ship there. Why not look up when they initially see the hole in the ground? There's a crucified alien right above them that they don't notice until Rook shows them and it's literally hanging right above their heads lol.
