this showed up on my feed and of course, I watched it again, couldn't resist! Your trials illustrate my lifelong struggle between accumulation and downsizing and I am sooooo sympathetic to your plight. I appreciate how much color punctuates your photography, ex. your socks, great scarf and sweaters in addition to nature. Thanks again for the pleasure you bring, always a treat!

Just catching up with your videos since bumping into Andrew in Braunston at the beginning of July. The quality really does stand out and your spring footage is beautiful. Love the cat carrier too !

From my experience with cats... if Matilda didn't make a fuss about being in the pouch... they are likely fine with it... they looked quite cozy in fact :D

Another masterpiece! I am always amazed at peoples accumulated things (I, myself do not accumulate things nor form attachments due to my personal circumstances)...but I oft sit in wonder wishing I could...Even after seeing the sadness divesting yourself of these objects brought only to be remedied in the end with a final vision of relief and a transparent chair. It was lovely seeing this little journey amongst the larger journey. Stories within stories is why I find so much pleasure in your videos. Wonderful! Will you ever do more book reviews?

I think it’s admirable that you really got rid of all the stuff! You really committed to boat life and didn’t leave a backdoor open. Stuff is replaceable, a light life isn’t! Well done guys. x

I’ve had to drastically downsize my lovely things twice, you go through a sort of grieving for awhile but eventually life goes on and you live well without all that I was lugging around. You’ll be okay🥰🙋🏼♀️

Love how you and Andrew can even make a storage unit (aka worst place on earth) ~ aesthetic ~ 🥹 So relatable having lived out one for a few months last year at the cost of ... £500 per month LOL. Deffo hated myself at the amount of stuff I had. Also, it has been a fun surprise after following you for over a decade that you are a pint drinking lady in these vlogs. This pleases me for some reason.

I remember when we where downsizing to smaller home we put a lot into storage then went by the principal of if you can’t see it it doesn’t exist, but the cost of storage was just too much, so we sold ,gave away and recycled most of it, it’s ok as we have filled our new smaller house with even more new junk. Spring is my favourite time of year, thank you for another entertaining video.

Kris - great video (again) - loved the swirling snow at the start. I must admit I was almost expecting a snow globe and perhaps Rosebud to appear but that soon passed and the episodes, within episodes of the storage locker started. Loved the change of pace and harsh cut at 04-04... and THAT look - no words needed. Dog focus pull at 05-19 amongst that lyrical yet melancholy music was lovely... (we will return to melancholy later!). "It will be a *******g miracle - whoa there's one" raised genuine chortle and, after soft cats there was another fave - a bathtub in a field... do you know there is a facebook group just for pics of bathtubs in fields? (I belong to a gate one!!). Another nice harsh cut at 13-26 and I knew we were on our way back to the storage units... and the concept of "boat friends"... (a bit like the Inbetweeners bus wankers) counterpointed by just a glimpse of Dostoevsky - such contrasts! - Highlight this time? - something really simple; the clouds skidding over the phone screen in reflection... a nice touch and a lovely random snapshot of simple pleasures..... oh, and I would not mind a bit if you did make a wholly melancholy episode, I think you might just have an inner Bergman waiting to be released. Safe travels and already looking forward to what you conjure up next.

Wow in July I’m watching a recently loaded boat video in the snow. So hard to downsize, I’ve got certain sentimental things that are not worth any money that I could never part with. Well done for being so ruthless. Great video. Thank you. X

Definitely! It was good to be able to trial run some stuff once we were on the boat too, much easier to work out what we needed once we had moved on

Another beautiful shot Vlog. Love the mix of stills and video, as well as the accompanying music. Great new glasses BTW. Downsizing is hard, but you did it and your boat looks so comfy and inviting. I think you will have name a good time with friends without the Charcuterie board…..although it was stunning. Looking forward to the next post. Thanks for sharing. 😊 Kathy

Here I am in a heatwave, watching a video about snow - It kind of helps ... So, you did the classic thing and used springtime to reduce - not your body fat, as many do, but your surplus possessions. Good on you!

It was definitely hard getting rid of everything to make the move onto our boat. We did move out of the house with nothing, everything went. I don’t regret any of it, I still haven’t wished I’d kept a few more bits. You will soon forget about the things you got rid of, you’ve probably got new things instead now. 🥰🥰

Great Video. Storage or letting go of ' Stuff ' seems to be every Narrow Boaters nightmare and I would imagine quite a expensive storage space ( I got ripped off by one of these places many years ago)- lost a House due to Cancer and because I had to go into Hospital,none of my Children were over 18 so couldn’t stay there, but nobody would help me with where the children would stay " it was my problem " according to Social Services !. Anyway enough of that. Regarding your Torch it looks like a brilliant one… might I suggest though that in your video you are lighting up in front of you beautifully as you walk but you are completely in darkness behind you ( not good when wearing dark clothes as well ). As you are doing a lot of walking along paths next to countryside roads and some of the villages don’t have the best lighting outside of the villages. It might be a very good idea if you got yourself some sort of Red light that you can wear so Drivers can see you !!. We all know that Drivers tend to be driving a lot faster these days and your video shows you in darkness ! Keep up the Great Work ❤
@krisatomic Жыл бұрын
So sorry to hear about that, that sounds so difficult. Very good point re: the light. We do try to stay away from roads at night time as people in the countryside drive EXTREMELY SCARILY if you're a pedestrian. But definitely something to consider for next winter, once it starts getting dark at about 4pm. Thanks!

@@krisatomic Thankfully all in the past but yeah it was a extremely stressful bad time,especially for my kids( well adults now) who at the time had to go through a rough time when their Mother ( my ex ) walked out and abandoned them. Thankfully though it was the best thing she could ever have done because nowadays the Boys have done wonderfully in life and education. They won’t have anything to do with her,long story short,she neglected them,used them,manipulated them,blackmailed them and did some things that I can’t really mention,basically if I as a Man had done what she did I would probably still be in Prison !. Boys are ok nowadays and that is all I want for them. Two of my 4 boys are Autistic and doing well. It would take me a month to go into the full story but short version,when we were together she cheated constantly and we all got used and tossed aside but it all backfired on her in the end…. Karma !!. I only mentioned the Light when you are walking because it worried me that you didn’t realise that you weren’t very seeable from the back end as you said people drive like idiots these days….better to avoid a accident !!. Where we live, we are not far from the countryside and we have jackets that aren’t Hi-Viz ( not yellow or striped reflective ) but they are extremely reflective in the dark ( They are a Greyish colour ) and we got them from Go-Outdoors along with Hats for the Boys that have a LED front light ( very bright ) and a Red LED built into the Hat. I take them for walks around the country and cycle rides in the Country Park so visibility is a must ( we nearly got taken out by some Berk on a Electric Bike who must have been doing 40mph on the Path ! ) Did I swear at Him Lol 😂. Mercedes drivers and BMW drivers always seem to be the Worst for speeding and needing ALL of the Road ?!! Driving is certainly not a pleasure these days ( I’m one of those drivers who drives at 20mph on the country lanes because I’m waiting for a Deer or a Rabbit to jump out Lol 😂,seriously though I do drive slower but mainly because of the idiots who don’t seem to realise that there may be other drivers on the Road or Horses of pedestrians or cyclists just around the corner ?. People seem to be very Selfish in their Driving or just walking these Days ? Barging into everyone ?. Whatever happened to Curtesy and manners in everything ?.
