I just wanted to say what a wonderful job you did explaining the many different types of inks available. I’ve been paper crafting for over 25 years and have worked teaching this subject (many years ago) for local stores. Anyone new to stamping or confused about all the different inks are very lucky to find this video. You gave wonderful information without overwhelming.

Very interesting video. I laughed a little when you stated a myth was that pigment inks didn’t blen well - I started stamping over 20 years ago, and we had Colorbox pigment inks in a petal pad made that way so that we could use for ink blending! I also wanted to note that specifically Ranger Archival inks are labeled permanent AND waterproof, and I have found that label to be correct. I also wanted to caution that rubbing alcohol will cause “crazing” on your acrylic items, such as stamp blocks, MISTI doors, Stampwheel plate, etc, so be very careful when spraying any stamp cleaner on a stamp while it is still mounted that might contain rubbing alcohol. TFS!

Yes, definitely can get a light haze over time from rubbing alcohol on clear hard plastics. I haven’t had an issue yet, but I know that could bother some. 🙂 Isn’t it funny how many myths are out there?! 😆

To not waste money, information, and understanding of materials is paramount . So running into your presentation was most important to me in succeeding well in stamping, etc. It is quite a lot of information to take in and to absorb the differences in artwork or identify just what I wanted to achieve. This can easily be missed to the viewer or stamper when we see beautiful artwork and are able to recognize exactly what material was used and how. Thank you for the enlightening. I'm happy to follow!

Very I for.ative. After 25 years of stamping I've chosen a watermark ink, a black pigment and a white pigment ink, a black dye ink, distress oxides and 2 lines of dye inks to give a broad spectrum of colors for ink layering, plus a gold pigment. This allows me to use any medium on a given project. Watercolor markers and select alcohol markers expand the possibilities. It's mind boggling when you look at the offerings. Best advice: Don't get caught in full set syndrome. Choose colors you like and reinkers. You can always add more.

Terrific video full of the most comprehensive information anyone needs about inks! I have not looked over all of your videos, it's possible you have already done a video on this, but here is what I'd like to learn. I still struggle with getting a good result when heat embossing but I'm getting better! I heat emboss on regular cardstock and watercolor paper. I think the biggest questions I have are how much pressure to use with inks as well as embossing pads, have I used enough versamark or possibly too much, and which type of powder should I use, meaning regular, fine, ultra fine, etc. Thank goodness for the Misti! Thank you again for an excellent video! 🌟
@DreamCraftCreate Жыл бұрын
Hi Lori! These two videos might be helpful: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gonXcmuffqmghNU and kzbin.info/www/bejne/labWmaWonap0fpo 🙂 You can heat emboss on most kinds of paper. The smoother the surface of the paper, the easier it is to heat emboss with. I always ink up my stamp really well with VersaMark and really press it down to make sure all the ink transfers. Most of my powders are super fine because they work well for stamp outlines and sentiments. I also have some ultra thick which I use for heat embossing large solid stamps.

I am only 15 minutes into the video, and I can't wait to comment. First of all this is a MUST SEE video for anyone just starting out with inks! Oh how I wish I had your video a few years back! I have Hero Hues Reactive Inks, and I had no idea they are a hybrid ink. I used to have brushes for each line of inks I had, now I just separate color families and dye and pigment inks. Well I've been sharing my dye brushes with Hero Arts Reactive inks. Do you think I've contaminated anything? I will obviously wash some brushes and now dedicate those to HH inks only. Also from what I'm understanding even though HH are hybrid, I should not share brushes with my Distress Oxides. Is that correct? You're an excellent teacher and I'll probably be back with another comment or question when I finish the video! Thank you so much!
@DreamCraftCreate Жыл бұрын
You are so sweet. Thank you! I personally do not worry too much about ink pad contamination. When you use your blending brushes you are picking up ink and it's unlikely you are depositing much, if any, onto the ink pad. I also used to use different brushes for different types of ink. Now I use the same brushes for dye, pigment, and hybrid inks. I have one brush for each color family and I make sure to wipe my brush off really well after I am done. Oxide inks tend to leave more residue on brushes than dye inks, so some people like to keep different brushes for them, but it's totally a personal preference. 🙂

Great video! I always seem to have trouble with inks and my clear stamps. They just don’t come out crisp. What is the best ink to use with clear stamps?
@DreamCraftCreate Жыл бұрын
Hi Barb. 🙂 Are you using photopolymer or acrylic stamps? I find that acrylic stamps are a little more difficult to work with. What type of inks are you using? VersaFine Claire is my go to for crisp stamping, but I use lots of different inks. Have you tried conditioning your stamps before you use them? If you rub a white eraser over your stamp or rub the back of your hand over your stamp it tends to help. You also can use clear embossing ink on the stamp, rub it off, then put your regular ink on to stamp with. ❤️

Tailored expressions die ink pads are non-water reactive. You cannot use them with water. And they use foam pads not felt pads. They have a few hybrid inks that can be used with copic markers.
@DreamCraftCreate Жыл бұрын
All water based dye ink is water reactive. I will say though that Taylored Expressions’ formulation is made to be more permanent and is considered an archival ink so once dry it’s not going to react. Their dye ink may be solvent based and not water based. I wasn’t able to find any information on that specifically. I don’t own any Taylored Expressions ink pads so the information I included about the pad type is from their website. The ink introduction blog post as well as Taylor’s KZbin video states specifically that the ink pads are made with a high quality felt pad. Their Oreo and Chocolate Truffle (black and brown) ink pads are non-water reactive hybrid inks. You can find the information here: blog.tayloredexpressions.com/blog/2016/05/31/get-inky-with-new-coordinating-ink-from-taylored-expressions/ 🙂

I just sent an email to their customer service department to see if they are solvent based. I’ll let you know what I find out. 🙂

Ok, I heard back from customer service and TE dye inks are solvent based. That’s why they are not water reactive. Mystery solved! 🙂

Hi Charlene! I commented much earlier regarding your video of everything about inks and questioned you how I could receive the book that you were speaking about. You commented back and told me to click JOIN, Burt I completely looked for JOIN all over the description on that video and found absolutely nothing. Can you please tell me where to find the JOIN LINK. I just cannot find it sorry to say Charlene. Is it called by a different name possibly. I also clicked on CHANNEL and there is nothin posted there at all either. What am I missing please. I would really love to receive the Ebook even if I have to pay for it please. Thank you very much Charlene. Patti in New Zealand

Hi Patti. Sorry about that. Are you using an iPhone by chance? I’ve read that sometimes the join option does not show for iPhone users. Here is a link: kzbin.info/door/oIJQYu4hjbw5R331VoE8owjoin 🙂 Hopefully that works!

Hello again dear Charlene! It worked right away with the link you gave me. I appreciate that so very much. I see there is a monthly fee and that is perfectly fine and I am very happy about that, however I will have to just wait a couple of weeks because my monthly pension check will not arrive until April 4th, ,so I can join the moment my pension check comes if hat is okay with you. I am very excited about this Charlene, andI am already learning so much from all the videos of yours that I am watching, so I thank you a million ties over.
