The MIC is NOT included in the booth, but was provided for Booth Junkies testing....
@MahmoudTaji4 жыл бұрын
Yes we get that the mic is not included. It would have been less weird if he wasn't a voiceover artist and has a sizable collection of branded microphones, so providing him with a microphone might have been unnecessary. Nonetheless it's still a better solution, in my opinion, than the tribooth so at least the video came at an opportune time.

Hello Mike, thank you for the great review. It was interesting to watch the new way you discovered to set it up. It actually makes sense, because with low ceilings it could be challenging to put the roof on when the frame is fully extended. Over the the years we went through many implementations of this booth from hanging to folding. I think this is now the final product. Yes. Indeed we do have PVC frame booth videos and, following customer's requests, we actually started to offer precut PVC frames for DIY vocal booths, that you can assemble at home. And for those frames we offer special blankets with velcro AND grommets to make the set up easier. Again: thank you for the great review. Jeff.

One thing you all have to realize is that working for more than a half hour or so in a booth made of blankets is that it gets very hot. That's what I work in, I made one myself though. It was incredibly easy to make out of PVC and moving blankets. If you don't need it to be collapsible I would totally recommend making one yourself for less than $300. That's what it cost me.
@dylanj86764 жыл бұрын
I agree, you can make a similar booth for $200-300. I would pay like $300 bucks for that frame alone. I wish they would just sell that seperately. Though you can also get collapsible canopy frames for under $200, though those are squares which will lead to a more boxy sound. I just went with the frame from a hydroponic tent myself just because I feel that while it won't be collapsible it'll be much more structurally sound.

Because this is twice as long of a space and it's a rectangle. Small spaces still allow for the low end reflections to bounce around very easily. And the other one was an equilateral triangle, so there are fewer walls to reflect off and they're all the same size meaning the reflections bounce around a lot more closely so they don't break up as quickly. A 3'x3' or 4'x4' square booth would also have an issue with sounding boxy because it's a small space that's completely symmetrical. 4'x6' and 6'x8' rectangular booths are much better sounding than square booths.

Here's my tip: you can build a similar thing for a couple hundred bucks. If you get a canopy frame it'll even be a collapsible. I'm not trying to diss VBTG here, just pointing out that much like MDF/plywood booths, blanket booths can be made for much cheaper by doing it yourself. That doesn't mean that I think anybody is getting ripped off, I just think that if you don't want to pay $1000-$1500 you can DIY it for a quarter of the lower end price. I will say this is a much better purchase than the Tribooth though. The design of that is just awful. Not only is it tiny but it was also triangular. The low end reflections will bounce around like crazy.

But a vocal booth is super small yet gets great sound. So it is a little confusing. I set up a podcast recording space in my crawlspace. Ceiling is unfinished and only 5’ high. My recordings have a low frequency reverb that makes my voice sound unnatural. I was thinking of putting in some sound absorption panels, hanging a couple moving blankets, and a bookshelf for some diffusion. Do you recommend investing time and $ in a space like that? Or just setup in another room. The downside is I would have to setup and breakdown each time if I use another room.

Crazy to me that sound "proof" booths are $4,000.00 and up. Would be nice vs having to build it. Much less a PITA. But WOW they're expensive prebuilt. I own 6 acoustic blankets from the same company I believe. Been a few years. No complaints about the blankets. They certainly make the environment dry. But again I feel like there is HUGE markup in this area. I saw a PVC frame for blankets the other day for $700. It is great the PVC is precut and measured, however again, HUGE markup. Pretty sure I could spend $200 and buy a miter box, saw, and all the pvc. So disappointing that it is either DIY or spend WAY too much $. You can literally buy some models of brand new motorcycles or mopeds for less $ than what people want to charge you for a vocal booth. Telling me the materials, engineering, demand, or practical use of a prefab vocal booth out weighs automotive? Maybe it is just me but seems pretty insane and definitely feels like highway robbery. The only saving grace is that most people don't have to buy a vocal booth. Heck even voice over artists can just build their own. I imagine many do because of the completely ludicrous prices of prefabs.

This is so portable that even in a large area, you can interview people. A photographer can use this as a small studio by placing backgrounds up inside and do small product photography. It can be used as a place for a fashion model in on a site as a place to change and have privacy. It can be used in a college or university class environment to demonstrate different types of mics, direction, and signal to noise ratio. Would be very good for conventions too. My wife is an elementary school teacher. Because of Covid, she’s doing virtual learning from home with a laptop, camera and mic. She could place some things for lessons behind her. I looked at the in r site with the link. Lots of great products at varied pricing.

That said, I chose the NT1-a because I thought it was a reasonable choice to demonstrate what a first "real condenser mic" might sound like in a portable booth. I still think it sounds pretty good overall.

Hi Stephanie, can I asked which size you purchased and how you like that size? Any cons to the booth? I am contemplating between the 4x4 and 3x6. Thank you in advance.
@StephanieGould4 жыл бұрын
@@JennyJoShow I have the 3x6. I LOVE IT. Although, sometimes, I wish I had more dampening. But it's fantastic.

@@StephanieGould thank you for replying! :) ooh yes, @atthesourcestudios noted that the booth prob still needs more treatment like adding 1inch acoustic foam. Would you say that the booth is just like getting the popup frame of a canopy and adding the acoustic blankets from vocal booth to go? (basically, just the frame is different)

@@JennyJoShow basically. yup

@@StephanieGould eek, I'm starting to rethink purchasing it haha. I'm not sure if the frame is that much better, hence worth the cost. :( Thank you, again! :)

Look into making the PVC version until you can buy something more expensive. There are tutorial videos on the vocalboothtogo KZbin channel. Go there and search PVC.

@Booth Junkie what's your thoughts on AI live noise removing software like Krisp.io? I use it on Web calls and such, works for That very well. Not sure about podcasts though. Thoughts?
@guspaz4 жыл бұрын
Discord has Krisp built-in, and I tried it briefly. I found that it was hyper-aggressive and kept truncating my speech, so I gave up on it. I had much better results with nVidia's RTX Voice (which, despite the name, can be used on GTX cards like my 970, though its successor nVidia Broadcast requires RTX), and that one has an adjustment slider that lets you dial in the noise removal. It too truncates sentences on max, but unlike Krisp, you can reduce the power of the noise removal until it doesn't do that anymore.
@davetindell41104 жыл бұрын
@@guspaz I bought Krisp off an appsumo deal a while back, before Discord integration. The desktop app is FAR superior to the discord app integration that's provided for free. Have you tried the desktop app of Krisp?
@BoothJunkie4 жыл бұрын
When I researched it before, it was my understanding that Krisp.ai only works when recording through Chrome and Chrome-type apps -- there is no VST/ plugin for something like Reaper or other DAW's, so I'm not sure it would work in a Voiceover situation. But, I haven't used it yet, so I can't speak to how well it works otherwise.
@davetindell41104 жыл бұрын
@@BoothJunkie they have a desktop app. You choose it as an audio source in reaper or Adobe audition. Yes, they have a chrome extension, but the desktop app is where what you're referencing is at. Mind taking a look? They offer a free trial. I'm interested to hear your thoughts on it for voice over work or podcasts recording in my case.

I used this booth as well and this booth DOES NOT absorb anything below 600hz-700hz. Trained ears can hear that easily.

Hi ! I'm new to this great channel, and I'm looking for a video that would explain how to limit or eliminate "mouth noises" after a voice recording. Which plug-ins to use if needed? Are there any special tips to know? Or more generally can you tell me one or more videos that would deal with the mixing of a voice-over? Thanks in advance, I will post this comment under a more recent video if I don't have an answer ;) Glad I found this great channel anyway!
