The terrifying thing about junkrat is that everyone expects him to just spam down hallways to try and get a lucky kill or 2, so when you do see a Junkrat actually predicting shots and knowing the trajectories of people affected by the concussion mines, it gets really freaking terrifying

True . The skillcap on projectile weapons is a lot higher than most realize , since mid air shots take a lot of skill to hit. You have to account for the enemy’s movement , and your projectile’s speed + it’s trajectory to actually land the shot

The trap was likely that he knew he was about to die, so he gives his team a trap to possibly take advantage of. He did end up trapping someone in it as well, although I don't think there was follow up in this case

on lower elos he doesnt require much skill but once u climb up and ppl know how to counter him with champs like pharah and ekko it takes lots of skill to keep winning games even when u are counter-picked. thats the hard part. so being top 500 with junk is kind of insane.

He's a very low skill hero if you're lower ranked, but if ur above like diamond 3 he starts requiring good gamesense, strategy, and good projectile aim.

Knowing good sightlines is one of the best things to rank up. Always know where the other dps are especially hitscans and play angles based off that

Provides good insight. Currently I’m a Junkrat one trick in Diamond 3 on pc but I’m having a bit more trouble winning games now that I’m playing masters and top 500 players every game. My main problem is when I play against Widow, I try to avoid their sight lines but it’s difficult on maps like Circuit Royal attack and I feel like I stand no chance when my tank is a Ball or Doomfist (which there are a ton of in my games). Other than that the part that can be hard is relying on your other dps to be an effective hitscan, if I play a pharmacy it can be really annoying even when I play enclosed spaces like in this video.

heres the thing with being a one trick, it sucks and you shouldn't do it unless ur the best in the world on that character, it's better to learn to play 3-5 characters well so you can take advantage of good/bad matchups, and character specific terrain advantages.

if you just always go junkrat, ur gonna face more pharah mercy players and lose more matchups even if u were playing at your best, certain matchups are super hard to win, and sometimes it's easier to just swap widow and headshot the pharmercy rather than stay junk and lose the game. Good luck

Short rip tires may fail, there is a reason why it is 10 second timer. A tire that arrives late has a good chance that the folks who were made aware of it (like Cassidy) from his voice line will be distracted and not actively searching for it to destroy.

The biggest difference between players in higher and lower elo beyond mechanical skill is exactly that. It's important to understand regardless of what hero when it's okay to be out in the open. It's the reason players in lower elo struggle to survive as they climb because they don't take note of when it's okay to play risky :> Hope this helps.

On the Rialto map, in the building, Kariko and Zen were in there saving him from certain death as he dropped to 3hp, and then 6hp, and around 20hp a few times. If this was anyone but a top 250 player, in all honesty would be chalked down to horrible positioning instead of good mechanics. Kariko had good position with an exit had the opposing team not had tunnel vision focusing the junkrat. Remove the healers who left the rest of the team to solo heal the Junkrat, we would just be watching a video of junkrat dieing due to bad positioning every 2 minutes, as what would happen in any other rank. You can't portray depending on your teammates to spend their entire resources to keep a single player alive taking 30 seconds to achieve 4 kills while trickling in, leaving the payload to eliminate a single flanker. Bad decisions on the opposing teams side as well. This is just not a teachable moment other than what not to do on either side. Just saying remove the kariko keeping him alive, this video would not have made it to this platform. The double mine jumps can be done in a simple movement tutorial.

I would argue that understanding when and where to position to allow your supports to enable you is a key factor across all ranks. Even in the lower ranks, players often die because they remain in positions that supports cant assist in either being far too out of position or staying in open space that lets you be picked off. I agree that supports did great, but ultimately, it was still a matter of game sense that the Western audience needs to build. I genuinely believe the reason Korean players dominate in Overwatch isn't because of difference in mechanical skill, it's the ability to play strategically around the team, which is one of the biggest purposes of these videos!

Here are some of the reasons for focusing the content around the East: 1. Share macro strategies, concepts, game sense and playstyles that are less utilized by the Western OW community. The Asia region in general has a more developed focus on such aspects and there aren't many content creators that explain how the game can be played on a more strategic level. We want to bring more content that go beyond just mechanical skill. 2. There have been misunderstandings between how the Western and Eastern community views issues revolving around OWL players, and we hope to be the ones to bridge that gap in the future if other problems or controversies arise! 3. Our team also just have direct connections to many OWL and Contenders players, and most of them happen to be Korean and in turn we've been able to reach out to streamers in Korea as well for replay codes. Overall we just want to elevate the understanding of high level play across all regions :)

Great critique! I agree that it's difficult to play against pharah in open space for sure. But the idea is that by utilizing tight enclosed spaces, the pharah can't actually poke at you without entering your killzone like in Rialto defense. It's similar to how he died against echo in open space, but could not be contested in corridors!

The health bars are visible because it's a replay. During the game you can only see enemy health bars when you do damage to them I believe.

Im a gm3 junkrat myself, playing in t500 lobbies pretty much every game. This title is very misleading and inaccurate. The enemy team simply ignored him for the most part and were very uncoordinated. Even so, a single dva or zarya full counters junk. You cannot do anything against them. Their doom also didn't pay attention to him at all. Given the circumstances smile played well, but this isnt due to the character... You also act like he is doing most of this by himself, even though he would just be feeding if he wasnt hard pocketed by the kiriko. After he dived on the zen for example, he had no movement. If anyone on their team would have dived him then or even came to help out the zen, he would have died.
