From what i've heard there's a 'nod and wink' culture between clubs and testers where the testing is not random at all. Certain players in squads are tested in-house to be sure they are clean and they are offered up to the external testing regime.This is why i imagine Mudryk's failed test is genuinely inadvertent. Remember, there is the three strikes rule that can be exploited if there's anydoubt that a player's system contains detectable banned substances. Mudryk would have been made unavailable (strike one).

Having worked as staff at pro football clubs, the players are provided with a list of all banned substances along with a list of all over the counter medicines and supplements to avoid. Infact the clubs I worked for the players where told "DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING UNLESS IT IS CLEARED BY MEDICAL STAFF FIRST"!

The wages, if the contract is terminated, could come off and be freed up for further spending. This could indeed be a way to get rid of a dud player (and there have been allegations in the distant past that clubs have tried this), but there are a few issues with that. Firstly, he's not enough of a dud that he couldn't be sold, especially given that he's on relatively low wages. Secondly, there is a lot of uncertainty about what would happen to Chelsea's PSR if the contract were to be terminated - they were able to significantly lower the impact of this signing by amortising over the 8 years of his contract. Could they still rely on that if the contract is no longer valid, or do they have to book it, say, as a one-time charge when they terminate? This doesn't look, on the face of it, to be the sort of thing Chelsea would want to do. They've had a history of selling their duds to SA and other related parties, it would seem a likelier, much more financially favourable and less risky route if they wanted rid.

They've paid and booked the transfer fee, so they're not getting out of that. He's reportedly on 100k pw, which isn't that much by PL standards. He's not been bad enough that they couldn't sell him at a loss, especially given they've got some related parties who've picked up their other duds previously. Doesn't seem likely they'd do this when they can likely sell him for 20-30m, his wages as a liability isn't higher than that, so they could even afford to subsidise them partially to faciliate a move. There's also the issue of PSR. Chelsea amortised his transfer fee over the 8 years of his contract. What happens if it's terminated, do they have to book the remainder in the fiscal year they terminate? Could be a problem, or at least risk/uncertainty, and one they couldn't resolve ahead of time - they'd have to ask the PL how they would treat such an event for PSR purposes (as there isn't a precedent), and they'd have to ask before spiking him, which would come out and look terribly suspicious. I just don't see it

Who conducts the testing ? . . How many individuals review the results ? . . Is the same Lab responsible for both testing and interpreting the results, or are these handled by separate entities ? If someone genuinely believes they are innocent, they would normally request to be tested again by a different Lab . . if Mr. Mudryk genuinely believes he is innocent but has not requested a second test be taken - whether from the same lab or an entirely different one - this would suggest, more often than not, that the person was very aware that they were taking either an unknown substance or banned substance. In Pogba's case, I'm not sure if he did request a second test be taken. If the rules are that only one test be done and only one set of results are interpreted/read, then that would mean that all test and all results are always 100% correct each and every time forever . . which in my world is somewhat impossible.
