We lived at Tiom in West Papua for a couple of years. I really appreciated the skills of the MAF pilots. They took many risks to help us. One pilot called Pablo (now passed) often used to come very early in the morning because the clouds were clearer. Memories.......

I used to load crop dusters with fertilizer on mountain strips just like this. We farted around with weather like you faced. Some days we could work, some days we e could watch the inside of the clouds. You had my pucker factor working hard.

I watched a few of your vids now, but cringe every time. Dont change a thing mate... you doing so well. Know your limits always and dont take chances just to keep appointments. You are the real hero's of the flying fraternity.

Where do you work though? I wonder what organizations are working with such places. I've always wanted to dedicate myself to helping others and exploring something new in such unreachable places like that one. Any tips on how do I employ myself to contribute to something like this?

There are a handful of mission organizations that keep pretty busy out here but just know that most of them require you to do a lot of fundraising at churches abroad. If that's not your thing then you just have to shop around and find out what airlines operate wherever you want to be and then see if you meet whatever their minimum requirements are. Lastly, and this is the most important and often the hardest part... You have to be committed to leaving the comforts of civilization, the people and places you know, and let yourself take the leap. Embark on the adventure and live your best life. It may sound simple but the last bit is often where people change their minds about this sort of thing. But don't lose heart though. If you want it bad enough, you can make it happen 👍

How did you get this flying job? How many flight hours did you have prior? Awesome flying video btw.

I believe I had around 2000 when I started but I wasn't doing these kind of shenanigans until around 5000 or so. Most of the operators out here would take pilots with less (maybe 1000), but they often prefer expats to have CFI certificates and turbine time.

Thick cloud, half the runway missing and a steep drop at the end. All in a days work. 🫣
