Pete to black every single time this game- “You’ve fallen victim to one of the classic blunders!”

“Well, I remember one cloudy day when he stood in the Theater of Dionysius and read a hymn to Pan which he had written. There was an audience of two or three hundred-and only the gods know why they showed up-but he began to read. “His Greek wasn’t very good yet, but his voice was quite impressive, his whole manner rather charismatic. After a time, it began to rain, lightly, but no one left. Near the end there was a peal of thunder, sounding awfully like laughter, and a sudden shudder ran through the crowd. I’m not saying that it was like that in the days of Thespis, but a lot of those people were looking over their shoulders as they left. “I was very impressed also. Then, several days later, read the poem-and it was nothing, it was doggerel, it was trite. It was the way he did it that was important. He lost that part of his power along with his youth, and what remained of what might be called art was not strong enough to make him great, to keep alive his personal legend. He resents this, and he consoles himself with obscure philosophy but in answer to your question-no, he was not always such a fool.” - This Immortal, Roger Zelazny, Pretty much sums up my thoughts in 'It's A Ride.'

Black showed no signs of being remotely close to a GM, he threw away a garunteed win for no reason by slamming into pink. You can also tell by his terrible pathing and troop placement. he constantly cuts his own stacks off whilst hitting you. Then he leaves his troops in a corner intentionally instead of putting them on capitol. The only credit i can give him is that he knows how to be a good neighbour but thats about it.

To put it simply, if I could live through an endless version of Groundhog Day where instead of a single day it's the entirety of history, I'd try to record, catalogue, & preserve every scrap of history. Write biographies for every person to ever live, then create a library with the stories of everyone who ever was and ever could be, regardless how insignificant. Because I've found over this short life of mine that few people have nothing to say. And those that don't simply can't put it into words yet. For everyone has a story. But it's only the ones closest to the surface that become known. Also I'm a sentimental bastard who probably won't change until much later in life hahaha- and it'd be fascinating to spend eternities in such a wondrous place of countless stories and dreams.

If you keep all your troops on your cap, you can’t use them to attack and make kills in a corner. Also, you’re easier to cardblock.
@TheModeler99
@TheModeler99 6 ай бұрын
Caps are valuable for stacking troops and attacking with them, especially in the endgame. If you cap at the corner, you can't use them effectively. Downside of capping the middle though is that you can get sandwiched

Maybe. That line trades a split for two 1's, which is pretty much a wash but risks something silly like eastern russia being red. Alternatively, he can put in on the 2, and the route is basically the same because Belarus -> Poland -> Hungary -> Prussia is equivalent to Trieste -> Hungary -> Poland -> Prussia, but with 1 more troop. With an extra troop, it's a 91% roll instead of 73%.
@jaakkokosola5948
@jaakkokosola5948 6 ай бұрын
@@stephentimothybennett there was going to be a split either way, either into karelia/ruskeala or sevastopol/crimea. No avoiding that. I don't think a different start point would have helped either since the line through mid-east europe was so clean.

I actually don't hate the purple break turn 1 but the second turn break was stupid. His 3 locked inside had nowhere to go because the white capital was blocking him in and the blizzard sealed the other way out. The 3 was going to get slammed eventually so the break was the only chance for him to possibly get that troop out and had the added benefit of slowing down an opponent, though it does have the downside of earning some enmity.
@TheKillPeteStrategy
@TheKillPeteStrategy 6 ай бұрын
it's possible he was trying to get the value out of that three. I think that level of analysis is already a higher skill than someone who would intentionally cap in iceland. My read on it is: 'I take Iceland, I break bonus' Typical noob thinking

Bill Hicks was a genius that got off the ride early. That quote identifies the exact point that causes the most suffering in our modern world, capitalism. If we gave food, clothes, and homes to all the people in need without asking anything in return, there would be no more crime or war, no more need to hate others for what we lack. But that truth is covered up at all costs by capitalists who steal profits from our labor and benefit from the disassociation caused us looking at each other in fear. GGWP and much love you Pete and all you Risk Takers!!
@danbert8
@danbert8 6 ай бұрын
That's the problem with the opposite philosophy... "If we" Have you given food, clothes, and homes to all the people in need asking for nothing in return? Good for you. How are you going to get everyone else to do that if they don't want to? Capitalism is based on voluntary transactions. The alternative is assuming everyone can be or will be altruistic. If you believe profits of your labor are being stolen, stop giving them away and find ways to profit for yourself. If you are voluntarily taking negative transactions under capitalism, that is on you.
