On top of that he’s totally uninteresting as a person and goes through almost no development whatsoever. You want a good protagonist, watch ReZero, read Worm, or play Steins Gate. THOSE are good protagonists. Layered, profound characters that go through real trials that challenge them physically, emotionally, and psychologically.

When I played the Witcher 3, I tried to delay finishing the game as slow as I possibly can when I realized how good it was after finishing family matters because it was the moment I realized how important the decisions I made were. When I finished the main story, I had the tragic ending and I really just stared blankly at the screen, recollecting my memories and moments that I spent with Vesemir and Ciri, which really hit hard when I was spawned back at Kaer Morhen. I quickly redid the last quest that could still give me a chance for a good ending and boy I was so happy I finally had it when Ciri became a witcher. Still not enough to get me through a post game depression, I played through Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. All I can say is that it helped me wrap the game up for me and now i have started to read the books and the play the older games. That last conversation you had with Regis also hit hard for me, he was like one of the best friends you can have. And that 4th wall break by Geralt? Breathtaking. I took a deep breath and finally thanked destiny for giving me the chance to play that game. The music, the story, I can't really put it into words properly.
@lurgee17063 жыл бұрын
For some reason the ending where Ciri leaves got to me even more than the bad one. Like, the latter is just a generic sad ending, yet if she leaves, it's such a rollercoaster of emotions. You get to play with her, and Geralt is ecstatic and filled to the brim with plans for their witcher life together, and then you see the nilfgaardians and suddenly realize that everything is already decided and you can't really change anything, it's like that breaking point most of us has got to experience with our friends parting ways with us, except that it obviously meant so much more for Geralt. Truly superb directing all the way around.

Cyberpunk is so criminally underrated. So much hate for the bugs, not even NEARLY enough love for how much a punch to the gut the story is. V's vain struggle against the inevitable, those who come and go, the constant reminders of mortality and what it means to truly be a good person, as well as asking overarching questions about what it means to even just be a human. What makes Geralt’s sadness so much more painful to watch is the fact that Witchers aren’t supposed to feel sadness. The chemicals they’ve been given to turn them into Witchers were supposed to extinguish all human emotions in them, but even with that in mind, Geralt’s love for Ciri is so great that he can’t help but cry when he sees her lifeless body.
