@traybernnahh, not so fast. There is sections of highways that are poorly designed that can cause accidents (Sure there’s a lot of bad drivers out there too). One section that I drive on everyday almost got me one time. It’s a bridge that is also on a curve, it freezes before the rest of the road and it’s on a curve. I was driving slower just in case. Luckily I was somewhat prepared but many other people weren’t. Bad design and negligence on the part of road department. Also hate seeing on ramps and off-ramps sharing the same (short) length of road. Also, I would rather share the road with people speeding and at least paying attention than people texting while driving slow.
@woohunter1 Жыл бұрын
@traybern distracted and drunk driving has left the chat…. You saw a mustang with racing stripes and just assumed he was speeding (which he very well could have) there will be an investigation just as with every accident that involves fatalities. The driver could have been texting on his or her phone, medical emergency, amongst a thousand other possibilities. You are making assumptions based off of a 3 minute video. You also said ‘EVERY ONE of these crashes is caused by driving too fast’. Not all crashes are caused by speed.
@e2U5 ай бұрын
@traybern While that is true, the other is also true: There are highways that can take more advantage of the DOPES who refuse to drive at reasonable speeds or drive impaired and or distracted. Both are TRUE, in my opinion.

Advice. You must pay very strict attention to your surroundings when driving any where at any time. Its called situational awareness. It's you, treating every single outing, in your vehicle no matter time, distance traveled, weather and road conditions as if you were a combat fighter pilot. You must look beyond the vehicles in front behind and across the way. I learned that lesson years ago in my head on collision. Which when investigated, concluded our combined mph impact was slightly over 100mph. My Z28 was crushed right to the windshield. It was brutal, fast and extremely violent. I survived as did the guy that struck me. The particulars are unimportant. The point is, had I been paying close attention to his movements just prior to our making contact, we might not have collided. This accident is pretty typical of head on collisions in Texas and other states where speeding is the main factor. Followed by driver distraction, DWI and falling asleep. It happens, but the greater point is, if you get your head way out of the vehicle, not literally, but visually, you can learn to predict certain things. Of course it's not a perfect science, but this video is certainly proof that the vehicles couldn't protect any of the occupants from death. These type collisions are almost always fatal. If not, one might as well be dead because the bodily damages are nearly as awful. The Mustang appears totally smashed in from bumper to windshield. The other vehicle appears to have suffered nearly the same, but not quite as severe. I cannot tell anyone why these awful things happen. I just know that they do not make any sense. That in the 21st century, such incidents should be nearly gone. Yet, here we are. Two families dramatically changed forever because of extremely bad judgment(s). It's painful to look at it. Just knowing human lives were taken so harshly and with such expediency. *WHEN YOU DRIVE, DRIVE SOBER, ALERT AND SAFELY. BE ALERT AND USE SITUATIONAL AWARENESS* KB

I don't know where to start to say how sorry I am about what happened to those sweet little angels. My heart and hugs go the family and friends. Speeding does KILL. It won't get you there any faster then driving the speed limit. Only place your going if you speed is jail or the funeral home. I have not lost anyone to speeding or drunk driving but my sister and I did almost lose our mom and stepdad couple years ago to someone talking on their cell phone while driving. They were hit head on. And hurt pretty bad but thankfully they survived. Seeing this video absolutely breaks my heart into thousand pieces. I would never get over it.
@canadude64012 жыл бұрын
It's a real tragedy, however, speed is not the biggest issue. Let's say they were both doing the limit (50MPH). From a physics standpoint, that is like one car hitting a brickwall at 100mph (50MPH x 2 opposing directions). That's not going to end well either, so speed isn't the main issue. (unless it was a 25MPH zone) A concrete middle barrier saves more lives than anything. So does defensive driving. I always tell people to only drive in the curb (slow) lane, and only drive in the "fast" lane on these type of highways to pass, then get right back over. If either of these cars were not in the "fast" lane a mere 10 feet from oncoming traffic, they would be alive today.
@filipevicente1769 Жыл бұрын
@@canadude6401 you have common Sense 🙏 People always blame the speed but, there are other things way worse than speed: Phones, alcohol and no blinkers are probably the top 3 causes of accidents. I live in Germany, where we don’t have speed limits (we have in some areas, either cause turns are tight, or weather reasons) and I don’t see more accidents because of it. Also here, people (95%) drive on the right side, using left lanes for overtaking.

So devastating to the family. It's all kinds of wrong for a 50mph highway with no centre median... on a curve too. Head on collisions from a physics standpoint is like a 3,000 pound car hitting a brick wall at 100mph, very unlikely to survive!! In my hometown, they had a similar 4 lane highway with continuous head on fatalities. They have finally added a barrier after years of public outcry. My tips on these types of roads are: 1) ALWAYS drive in the curb lane, not the "fast" lane unless to pass....then get right back over to the curb lane. This will give you more of a buffer from an oncoming car. 2) be always ready to swerve away from oncoming cars while in this slow lane. I'd rather roll my car in the ditch, write-off the car and survive as opposed to having a car hit my head on.
