If you don’t know what Matariki is, read this. Matariki is New Zealand’s new year. The way the stars/Matariki got formed is that there was a god called Tāthrīmatia. He got angry at his parents. And his parents were Pāpātūānūkū(the earth mother) and Rāngīnuī(the sky father.) He got so angry because his brothers that were also gods seperated them. He just couldn’t take it anymore. And he ripped out his eyeballs, sending them out into the sky and his eyes became Matariki
