Before I talk about this cover I want to suggest you wear headphones when you listen.
I started on this cover before my song Fwog's Final Fleet. I'm not sure how long ago I started on that, but I do know it was first teased on October 3rd, 2021. So, why did it take so long? I'll explain my process in creating this cover.
Initially, I was inspired to cover this song as it was a song used for a collaborative animation I was working on that was eventually scrapped. I had planned on simply remaking the song, as I wasn't a fan of how over-produced it was. Then I realized I could cover the unplugged version, which is better in so many ways. So I begun covering the unplugged version but I soon realized it was sounding more and more like the original song. After this realization I decided to combine the two into one giant song. I had an idea to create this huge build at the chorus that abruptly transitions to the unplugged version. After this, I asked @SoxOPhone if he could lend a hand. I then asked him to do a portion of the unplugged version. As he was working on that, I started thinking of what I could do for the ending. Would I just repeat the song over again like in the original? That felt too easy. What's the point in making a cover if I'm not going to expand on it? A couple of months go by, and I have a rough idea of what I want to do. @SoxOPhone finishes his part and I feel demotivated to continue the cover. Every idea I have either feels far too ambitious or too simple. Eventually, I decided to lean towards the ambitious side. I started with a build based on the intro to the unplugged version and ended with the weirdest thing I could have imagined. I had some ideas like call and response that I kept while others I scrapped. This was by far the longest part of the whole project and to my surprise, took up half of the length of the cover. As I was working on this I decided to go back and remaster the original section I had worked on as it had been over a year since I last touched it. I added some things like a new intro based on the unplugged version and a jazzy Sox solo. Then, FINALLY, about a week ago I finished the ending of the song. After all this I think you can understand why I'm excited to share it with you all. I couldn't make that animation, but I did finish this cover. I hope you enjoy! :D
