The Swedish Verse really surprised me by being in the same Faux Swedish spoken on the show but it's such a Stupendium move, I tip my hat to you sir! As someone who grew up watching the Muppets this was an absolute joy to listen to and I was grinning the entire time. :) I especially liked the voices for Gonzo, Rizzo, Bunsen, Sam and Pepe since they sounded so much like the actual characters and, even though I was expecting a verse for the Chef to show up at some point, I definitely was NOT expecting one for Lew Zealand, of all people. That was a major surprise.

Why am I not seeing any comments about the instrumental? Yes, this was an absolute masterpiece, having so many talented creators come together to rap about the iconic Muppets for 7 and a half minutes, but my LORD the instrumental! It just scratches my brain in a way I can just vaguely describe. First, listening without the lyrics really emphasizes which part belongs to which character. Kermit's has a banjo leading it, Animal has drums, Rizzo has a record scratching, and Rowlf has his piano. The tone for each section drastically changes for who's speaking, and I love it. Also, I notice details that are harder to hear with the lyrics, like that echoey "SCIENCE!" that plays during the Muppet Labs part, or that weird little laugh that plays during Lew Zealand's part. I didn't even notice the seemingly obvious applause in Fozzie Bear's part until I listened to the instrumental! I'm definitely listening to every instrumental version Stupes makes from now on, and I recommend you do, too.

Okay, so after listening to this like a dozen times, definitely think that the best part is the instrumental. The fact that it changes for every single character to fit their vibe (Piano for Rowlf, the subtle “My Country ‘Tis of Thee” for Sam, turntable scratches for Rizzo, etc.) goes so far into building each character. Most of the time a cypher instrumental is there just to enhance or provide consistency from one verse to the next. This one, entirely on its own, justifies the entire existence of this video. Never before have I listened to a cypher and thought “Ooh, gimme that backing track.”

Just to say that I just played this for my 62yo uncle (who basically doesn't touch the internet unless he's asking me to order something online) who saw the Muppets more frequently when I was younger and he found this very entertaining! He didn't say that he had a favourite part, but he agreed with me that it was very impressive that you were able to rap as the Swedish Chef. And given that there's almost 30 years age difference between us, I figure that's fairly impressive :D

You know? This is somehow exactly what this genre needs. Something to get out of Nerdcore's comfort zones with the latest anime or trending videogames. Pushing the boundaries of what the audience would think about when they think about rapping and nerd genres. I think this is great, and everyone did an awesome job with their part. I absolutely loved the asides where Statler and Waldorf just break the flow for a second to throw a one liner in and worked the artists into their punchlines. I personally cannot wait until the next one of these Unlikely Cyphers. What will you cover next? The periodic table of elements (for some hour long spectacular of ... geez 112 elements? you could probably break it down either by atomic number or elemental group, and even then...)? Ancient civilizations? A cypher about the different people on the track but all of them are mixed up so that each one's part is in somebody else's hands? Different types of bees? 90's sitcoms (Friends Cypher?)? Chewing Gum Brands? I don't know how any of those listed could be one, but it would be weird and awesome all at the same time.

There's only two curse words in this whole video and one of them is hidden in the Swedish Chef's verse, so this is pretty kid-friendly, but the Cypher definitely isn't pandering to kids at all. It's clear the people who made this love the Muppets and wanted to make a true tribute to them, and they succeeded big time.

Unnecessarily in depth review of every single part of this: Kermit: S tier A fantastic way to open. Freeced has got the voice , he’s got the lyrics , he’s got that crazy banjo in the back , dude does it all. It genuinely feels like a Kermit rap. Exactly what it needed to be. Also this is a very front loaded video so get prepared for early s tiers. Gonzo: S tier I’m convinced the stup must have had the idea for this video cause he heard dans gonzo impression. This is my favorite section in the video , gonzo goes hard Rizzo: S tier JT doing rizzo was an INSPIRED choice. He literally just sings like that all the time , gonna go back to jt and hear rizzo now. He gets the character perfectly too , like honestly if we’re ever in need of another rizzo just get him. Scooter: S tier Scooter is here to prove you don’t need to do the voice to be s tier. Littleflecks doesn’t sound like scooter , not even a little bit. But he fuckin NAILS scooter , to the point where no he doesn’t sound like scooter , but he totally does at the same time. Bravo Fozzy: A tier God McGwire has just got that voice doesn’t he? Anyways what I’ll say is that I do think it goes a little to straight faced , it’s a fozzy rap it should be goofy yknow? However it’s not like they aren’t trying , they’re clearly doing a lot to try and fit their McGwire style into fozzy and I think they mostly do a fantastic job. Muppet Labs: S tier There’s something just so fitting about stup as the muppet labs duo , he’s played this little desk bound nerd before and by god he will play him again. And as such he knows exactly how to do it perfectly. Dr.Teeth: C tier Sharp downturn here for me personally. Freshy kanal delivers a fine sounding rap , the lyrics are like fine , it’s genuinely not bad. But by god that is not doctor teeth. Not capturing the strong energy OR the strong voice of dr teeth really makes this one feel alot more bland then the ones leading up to it. Rowlf: D tier I wanna be nice so bad. But I really don’t think mr connor quest tried very hard here. I think he saw that rowlf is a dog who plays the piano and said "yeah I got this" and them proceeded to go in exactly the wrong direction with him. Rowlf is classy yet rough around the edges , he’ll stand his ground but he’s pretty laid back. This is not that. Now to be fair , maybe he doesn’t see the point of this cypher as about being in character , while I do. So maybe he’s trying to do something that I’m just not looking for , but cmon mate everybody else got the memo. The only really praise I’ll give is that the piano is lovely Animal: A tier And we’re back. Shwabadi does an awful lot for a character who normally basically can’t speak. My only gripe is that I think both the vocals and instrumental could have leaned a little further into the metal angle. But even then this does feel like a genuine attempt at an animal rap and it does more or less exactly what it should Miss Piggy: S tier When she does the piggy screams I fucking die every time. This is exactly the rap the miss piggy would write. 👌 Sam Eagle: S tier WHY ARE YOU SO GOOD AT BEING SAM THE EAGLE NEMRAPS? Legitimately this one I think is the most in character of all of them. Quality Pepe: B tier This one’s kind of the opposite of everyone else. BassedOlaf has the character down , he’s got the voice down , but I honestly think the actual sound of the song needs some more tuning. Some of the lines are really trying their hardest to work but just end up falling a bit flat. But the effort is clearly there and that’s what really matters Lew Zealand: S tier How? The fuck? Did you make lew zealand go so hard? 10/10 thrown fish Swedish Chef: S tier Do you really need me to tell u why rapping Swedish chef is good? No , ya don’t. And my fingers are tired.
