There are families asking the most basic questions like which college is safe to send my child too. It really is surreal. As a college history professor I have seen this development for many years. I made a video exposing the causes. I did it because we can't fix the problem if we don't admit what the causes are.

The thing is that even if the occupation is lawful and even if the settlements on them are lawful, the question still remains as to what happens to the Palestinians there and in Gaza long-term. Obviously forcing them out or even worse is unthinkable and would be disastrous, absorption into Israel would immediate or very soon render Israel no longer majority Jewish, and allowing the status quo in which Palestinians have a measure of autonomy but not true sovereignty to go on forever would be wrong and untenable and eventually will explode. So whether or not Israel has the legal right to occupy, settle and annex the West Bank and Gaza, it would be insane to do so. The only long-term solution is for Palestinians to have their own country in these territories, once they're ready to recognize Israel and renounce violence against it. This is not about legality but what makes moral AND practical sense. Obviously no Palestinian state so long as it's a threat to Israel, but if and when it isn't, then it needs to happen, in these territories. No other long term solution makes sense or is feasible.

why do you think radicalized Arabs who reject Israel and mostly have Jordanian or Egyptian citizenship are eligible to a part of Israel’s vital territory, without which its borders will become indefensible, regardless of any defense technology, because geography beats everything in this case… why do you think that this group whose Palestinian identity emerged solely on the basis of their eliminational genocidal ideology, as a means to achieve their goals by other means after the defeat of 1967, who never really wanted a sovereign state and view it only as an intermediate step towards unification with Jordan, or Syria in order to create a Khaliphate, who lack the ability or the will to govern themselves, and without their struggle lose the only common ground that somehow unifies them, making them appear as something they aren’t, a single people group… why are you so eager to give them something they don’t even want, or are able to manage, by creating a 23’d Arab state in the region, at the cost of mutilating Israel, a functioning democracy and the only Jewish country in the world? does it seem just to you?

Internationally, in the media, in diplomatic circles, in Academia, and more... Nobody likes to mention historical circumstances, probably because eery State has something to be at least shy about discussing, if not ashamed. We get that; and we are not children. Civilization was formed with one takeover after another since the beginning, from a cave, to a tent, to a village, to a valley, and on through every imaginable scenario, up to the current time when some have not yet accepted that this is a new time. It all had to stop at some point. With that background, I think that it is no diplomatic faux pas to mention that Jews had and have a very strong culture throughout their history. They were the first to recognize that there is one God. They have a very good written history that describes exactly what their land is and was. We can't simply overlook all of this and pretend whatever makes someone with a lot of financial backing and a willingness to abandon all logic to build a Ponzi-like pyramid of axiomatic faux facts to satisfy a dream of World Conquest. And aye, there's the rub. In spite of many attempts by powerful empires to dislodge Jews from their homeland, some of them always remained; and many of them always came back. After the fall of the Ottoman Empire, which a certain person in Turkey has not accepted, and after the World Wars I and II, we had essentially what should have been the last of the attempts to dispose wisely of territorial problems, although some would inevitably disagree that this was done so wisely. Nevertheless, wars tend to take territory and lead to population movement. So back to the point. While the Islamic conquest of the World was moving along at a rapid pace, and before the Europeans put a stop to that horrific march of coercion, there was the problem of the Jews, who did not seek to take over anyone's territory; nor did they abandon their arguably superior culture and religion. This, like the canary in the coal mine, much as it is with Israel and the West today, was the signal that someone was not going to bow down to Islam, even though it truly seemed that Islam was on a roll. To this day, the Jews are resented for this; and the grudge hurts as much as it ever did. I think that people should spend more time teaching the progression of history in a truthful fashion and in an adult way. Timelines are important because it is hard to understand how disjointed facts relate. Presently, history is taught in a very confusing and inconsistent way that tries too hard to avoid sensitivities for the sake of profit and power, and even to maintain the status quo so that people can make more money and not lose their infrastructure. Young minds are being wasted on social media and on conversations that can settle all problems in one minute without any prior knowledge or help except a few likes, a trip on Google, or perhaps a sojourn into Wiki. Some schools teach only hate and the killing of Jews. Can you believe that and call it education? I often wonder about what people think the term "United Nations" might mean. It has certainly given evidence that the original meaning is defunct.

@@Sarah-im3lp Only one per cent of deaths in Gaza are civilian deaths. Hamas commit 2000 terror attacks on Israeli civilians every year and have fired 15000 rockets at Israel in just four months. There are far fewer civilian deaths in this war than any other war happening now. The official data on civilian deaths is fabricated by Hamas. Lawyers For Israel have stated that "these figures have been fabricated. These statistics are produced by the Hamas controlled Ministry of Health, and then circulated by the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. The Palestinian statistics are also deployed in a way that implies wrongly that all the Palestinians killed were civilians, as there is no reference to the number of Palestinian combatants killed. The ratio of civilians to combatants killed is particularly relevant when assessing the proportionality of Israeli military actions and hence whether they are likely to have violated international humanitarian law.” However, even if the stats were true, 13,000 Palestinian combatants had been killed by the end of February 2024, meaning that the ratio of civilian to combatant death rate is less than 1.5:1. This ratio is much lower than the usual ratio of civilian to combatant casualties in urban warfare, as indicated by a Report by the UN Secretary General which found that in urban armed conflicts worldwide, 89% of the casualties were civilians. Other articles which prove that Hamas’ statistics are false include: How the Gaza Ministry of Health Fakes Casualty Numbers by Prof Abraham Wyner, Statistically Impossible: A Critical Analysis of Hamas’s Women and Children Casualty Figures by Profs Tom Simpson, Lewi Stone and Gregory Rose, Gaza Fatality Data Has Become Completely Unreliable by Gabriel Epstein from The Washington Institute, The numbers of dead in Gaza don’t add up - and there is no easy explanation by Mark Zlochin in The Telegraph, and Close review of Gaza casualty figures reported by UNOCHA based on daily Hamas ‘Ministry of Health’ numbers proves they are falsified” by Salo Aizenberg. The Washington Institute for Near East Policy has documented significant discrepancies in Hamas’ fatality numbers in their report entitled How Hamas Manipulates Gaza Fatality Numbers: Examining the Male Undercount and Other Problems. At least 1000 rockets fired by Hamas landed in their own territory, and Hamas have gunned down civilians who were attempting to obtain aid from the IDF troops, as can be seen on video footage uploaded to the Stand With Us KZbin account. The war in Gaza has one of the lowest civilian casualty rates in recorded history. As Colonel Richard Kemp’s research and calculations have shown, the Syrian Civil War resulted in 250, 000 deaths, the Yemeni civil war resulted in 150,000 deaths, the Tigray War in Ethiopia has killed 80,000 people and 2 million people have been killed in warfare in Sudan. In fact, every significant war in the middle east and Africa has had a much higher death toll than the Hamas war, including the Iraq-Iran War with an estimated 500,000 to 2 million deaths, and the Congo War which has been blamed for 6 million deaths since 1996. The USA and Britain also killed a far higher number of civilians in Afghanistan and Iraq, and Saudi Arabia has killed 400, 000 people in Yemen. If you watch the Stand With Us videos on KZbin, you can see videos of the Israel Defence Forces evacuating and escorting Palestinian civilians to safe areas and providing aid and medical assistance to them. In fact, the IDF have evacuated 1.5 million Gazan civilians to safe zones, and, unlike other armies, the IDF has a whole unit dedicated to evacuation efforts. It is called the Population Evacuation Unit. This unit uses an advanced digital map that divides Gaza into over 600 polygons, enabling evacuations from very specific areas. The IDF employs phones calls, text messages, flyers, loudspeakers and media platforms to warn civilians to evacuate. No other army in the world lets its enemies know of impending attacks, because this would risk the lives of its own army members. Using various tools, the Population Evacuation Unit can keep tabs on how many residents have left a given area. What warning did Hamas give before they slaughtered thousands of people, kidnapped hundreds and beheaded innocent babies? John Spencer, Chair of the Urban Welfare Studies at the Modern War Institute at West Point and a retired US military officer has stated that “Israel has taken more measures to avoid needless civilian harm than virtually any other nation that’s fought an urban war...No military in modern world history has faced over 30,000 urban defenders in more than seven cities using human shields and hiding in hundreds of miles of underground networks purposely built under civilian cites, while holding hundreds of hostages. The sole reason for civilian deaths in Gaza is Hamas.” Unlike Hamas and Hezbollah, Israel does not deliberately target civilians and they try their best to minimise casualties. The official procedure of the Israel Defence Force is to strike targets based on intel, and military necessity for close air support. They carefully consider the right munitions to minimize collateral damage to accurately strike Hamas even though it operates within civilian areas. During each military strike, they carefully monitor the target area. If it does not comply with the IDF’s Standard Operating Procedures, they will abort. Regarding Israel’s use of unguided bombs, the claim that such munitions are indiscriminate or cause uncontrollable damage is misleading. Even though these munitions are not GPS-guided, they are still used accurately. It is released in a specific release point calculated by the aircraft’s system to allow the pilot to strike a target accurately. Heavy munitions are detonated underground, preventing fragmentation and significantly reducing the blastwave and debris as a result. In these strikes, the resulting crater visible in satellite images indicates that the underground detonation has actually occurred on a military target, and directly minimised damage to the surrounding areas. Additionally, in many cases, the IDF use small PGMs (precision-guided munitions) to strike targets near sensitive areas. Those targets include rocket launchers, commanders, tunnel shafts, and command and control centres, which are located throughout the Gaza Strip. Hamas and the Palestinian Government are the ones committing war crimes. Palestine has been collecting aid money for decades, which is meant to be given to civilians, but is squandered on weapons production and the building of underground terror network tunnels. Many leaders of Hamas, like Sinwar are billionaires living in palaces and mansions in Qatar, all funded by aid which was intended for civilians. Hamas has governed Gaza since 2005, but they do not care about their own civilians, hence their extensive use of human shields and recruitment of child soldiers, as documented in an online article in the Jerusalem Post entitled Hamas Continues Recruiting Child Soldiers: Where is the Condemnation? Hamas also places its infrastructure, launch pads, bunkers and ammunitions in densely populated areas and near hospitals and schools, all of which are examples of war crimes.

Palestinian civilians are being killed at a rate of about 10:1, i.e., the IDF kills about ten civilians for every Hamas combatant! The Mandate is no longer applicable and it never mentioned full sovereignty, just the right to live on the land encompassed by it. When the UN Partition Plan of 1947 was passed it superseded the Mandate, which ceased to have legal applicability on 5/14/48, and even if Palestinians rejected the part allocated to them that didn't automatically entitle Israel to it. Rather, it become disputed land without final status, not for this or that country to claim for itself. It's still disputed and without final status.
