It’s MOT Time For My Original Project Car!

I've owned my Fiat Punto HGT for just about a year, and now it's time for its MOT. I'm a little nervous, as there's three main areas it can fail. Rust, emissions and baggy suspension. If the rust is really bad then it might be the end of the road for my little yellow hot hatch.

My Punto will have its MOT here in the Netherlands in september. Two years ago it needed a lot of rust repairs on the underside to pass the MOT 💸 On the up side I know that rust is not problem for the foreseeable future. It will probably be a mechanical issue which will deem it beyond repair. But until that time I will probably continue driving it. Still fingers crossed that it will pass this september :)

Floorplans always first to go on these, followed by inner sills. Regarding air bag light have a good look in the mk2 punto section on the FiatForum, some good info there. A few faults that can cause this. On mine it was faulty wiring/airbag decactivation switch (the key switch on the side of the dash inside passengers door).

I have a regular 2001 1.2 petrol Punto 188. Just passed the MOT with no things to look for. I love my little Fiat.

The guy who fitted your exhaust seemed alright, he might do bits of welding or know someone who does locally to you?

I’ve found a place to get it sorted, hopefully the rust is not too wide spread

If running cars like this it is a good idea to get some welding gear and learn to weld.

Seems like someone has been hiding an ABS/TCS fault. I’m pretty sure those are the lights covered on the dash. Do you need me to send you a picture of the dash illuminated for a reference. Hope that rust isn’t too bad pal.
