The amount of data you can get from KZbin is insane.

I shot my first USPSA match the other day and shot with a GM on my squad and he hammered in my deficiency was being slow on transitions.. (flat transitions) and speed exiting and entering positions...

The one thing I'm not sure about in regard to speed mode is how much failure is acceptable before you're ingraining too much bad info? What does success look like to you in speed mode? My comfortable draw to sight picture is 1 second. I'll go into speed mode, but when I'm flubbing 70-90% of the draws at .6/.7, it just makes me wonder if I'm doing things right.

If failure is 90% that’s not an appropriate par time for you right now. Get 80% success at .9 for several sessions and play with .8 and see if you can get about 50%. As .9 because more consistent you’ll see .8 increase in success as well. Also, speed mode is largely above seeing things very quickly (transitions) and being really honest with yourself as to when you get what you and when you don’t

I really enjoyed this content. I’m currently in C class for CO (55% HF). Questions: How do you apply “speed mode” to paper at 25 yards? Currently I can draw to first shot at 50 yards in 1.6 seconds, but the followup shot is unreliable. At 25 yards, my groups are spread to the delta zone on three (1/3rd size) USPSA targets in a row if I transition doubles cumulatively with evenly spaced but slower, untimed cadence (maybe 0.5 splits). I’m trying my best to stay target focused on a black dot in alpha (with occluded dot) but I can’t seem to “direct” my hits with my vision at this distance, at least reliably at will like I can at closer targets. Should I just care about isolating the speed piece at this distance without worrying about cumulative groupings, instead of first trying to prove I can group at slower pace? How can I simulate (part) of this in dry fire? How can elements of speed mode be translated in dry fire?

Sounds like you’re having grip issues. The grip should be the same in dryfire as it is through a long string of live fire

Also can speed mode be simulated effectively with a 22lr? My match gun is rival with dot, and my 22 is keltec p17 with dot. I’m hoping that my p17 will be a tool at least for the vision part, since the platform is obviously very different. I’m trying to save on $ because I currently can’t afford >1k 9mm monthly including for match.

I would say focus on dryfire if you can’t shoot as much ammo. www.patreon.com/myowndryfire
