CatholicAmanda. I loved your dress, but long sleeves would have been more appropriate given the sacredness of the occasion 💖

I agree in some ways. However, I could not find any dresses with sleeves that fit well and I could not afford the cost of personally tailored sleeves. Also, my spiritual director and my bishop approved this dress for my Consecration.

This is such a weird recommendation from youtube to me, but thanks to this video I understand what Consecration means and what Consecration virginity means. Nevertheless, I am happy for you, congrats.

This was the video that youtube recommended to me the day it was released. It was the first I had ever heard of this vocation, and I knew in a moment that it was what the Lord had been calling me to all my life... 7 years later and I am a Consecrated Virgin Living in the World. Every now and again I find this video to watch and remember the thrill of the day my whole life changed. Thank you Amanda.

Also love the mantila. In my Church I am the ONLY one covering my head.
@CatholicAmanda7 жыл бұрын
I am the only one in my parish that veils as well. This mantilla is the one I will be wearing for my Consecration. The one in my profile picture is the one I wear on a daily basis.

I am a consecrated virgin. This is the oldest form of consecrated life for women in the Catholic Church dating back to the time of the Apostles.

@@CatholicAmanda a lot of practices in our Catholic Church have been “revised” but in reality they are a way to encourage Catholics to forget the real Catholic Traditions. It’s good to be consecrated to Our Lord, but is what you or I doing pleasing to God or just a fancy? I suspect your way of life is not sustainable. Consecrated virgins live under holy obedience, holy poverty and holy chastity. I encourage you to look up a good Order and join them. There’s more strength in living with holy women then living alone in a world that is really our soul’s enemy. A good traditional order will be more prayerful and serious about salvation of souls. If you really want to be a bride of Christ, then wear the holy habit as an outward sign, a witness of your love for Christ. These new age things in the Church don’t bear witness and don’t bear any fruits. I wish you all the graces and blessings of Our Lord Jesus Christ, may you be pleasing to Him alone more than to anyone else.

It is clear that you do not really understand the history and tradition of this vocation. I invite you to take a look at the thread on Twitter where I recount some of the history and Tradition of this vocation in the Church: twitter.com/CatholicAmanda/status/1415746592619913222?s=20

@@booklover1945 Please do some research on consecrated virgins. What would you say to Saint Marcelina and Saint Genevieve who were consecrated virgins BEFORE MONASTIC LIFE? This vocation is ancient and can be in tandem with or without religious life. There are many Catholic singles who live alone and they are surviving. A “holy habit” does NOT make one a “Real” Bride of Christ. A habit has to do with religious life. Your our logic is painfully flawed. We need consecrated virgins in Religious life AND in the world. The church BROUGHT BACK the practice of consecrating virgins that will remain living in the world. There is NOTHING wrong with bringing back things that fell out of use!
