If you have any questions on consecrated virginity, please let me know. I am always open to ideas for video topics.

Hi Amanda, I actually do have a question about consecrated virginity. Especially on the exact definition of "virginity" in this vocation. However I think it is best to ask my actual question more privately. Do you use something like facebook messenger or something similar?

You can private message me through KZbin by going to my channel, you can send me a direct message on Twitter, or you can email me at amanda @ catholicamanda.com

Can you explain the spiritual importance of virginity? I can't find much information in this.

As a Catholic and 41 year old virgin I have thought about becoming a consecrated virgin but I really feel like my virginity is a quiet thing for me. I'm not ashamed by any means but I do keep it to myself.

I wish I could go back and preserve my virginity. I feel called to a consecrated life, but I can't because I've been married and had a son. My son is an adult now so I've been discerning some sort of religious life. Thanks for telling me about the private vow of chastity!

KZbin took my comment about helping hungry people for Lent off your post before you got to see it. :( I guess they thought it was too much like advertising. Wish me luck, anyhow. :(

Try turning on the closed captions. Then you can read what she is saying. If necessary, you can slow down the playback speed. HTH.

Could you do a video on private vows? As a relatively new Catholic, I didn't realize that such thing existed. Also, could a woman becoming a consecrated virgin have a small private ceremony? The consecrations I've seen on KZbin are beautiful, but appear to be public ceremonies in large churches or cathedrals. Does the woman have any say in what kind of ceremony she has for her consecration?

Does having lustful thoughts, or any private violations of chastity such as masturbation or pornography disqualify someone from becoming a consecrated virginity? I’ve never sought out pornography on purpose but I have seen it on accident and I prayed for the images to be removed from my mind. I’ve also had lustful thoughts before and may have possible masturbated as a young teen (I honestly can’t remember.) Am I disqualified?

Is there a difference between a consacrated virgin and a Dominican consacrated laywoman? I’m thinking of Saint Catherine of Siena and Saint Rosa de Lima
@CatholicAmanda3 ай бұрын
Yes. A consecrated virgin is a public state of life in the Church, consecrated by the diocesan bishop according to the liturgical rite. A laywoman who takes a private vow would be different.

Are requirements for nuns and concecrated virgins the same?

No. Each religious community/order will have their own requirements for entrance.

im a catholic who 42 years old I still stay with my parents, I would love to be a consecrated virgin seeing im still a virgin, but how could I take the rite and marry christ if my parents or family would not be there I am an only child long story, I do not mean right away maybe some day could I still do it go throught with it even if it was just me and Jesus?.

The Rite of Consecration of a Virgin Living in the World is presided over by the diocesan bishop. It is wonderful to have family present but not a necessity for the Rite.
@amandamorton-king2112 Жыл бұрын
Don't you think this is an odd definition since previously married people can become nuns, monks and priests? I would think celibacy (the choice to remain sexually inactive) is more important than virginity which may be as much the result of circumstance as active choice.
@CatholicAmanda Жыл бұрын
The vocation is consecrated virginity, not consecrated celibacy. Virginity is an intrinsic requirement of the vocation with the exception of those whose virginity was forcibly taken from them against their will.
@amandamorton-king2112 Жыл бұрын
@@CatholicAmanda @CatholicAmanda Yes I accept your definition, I just think virginity is not as worthy a state as celibacy since one might well be a condition only of circumstance whilst the other is definitely a state of conscious choice.
@CatholicAmanda Жыл бұрын
It is definitely a conscious choice that we make. And it is a gift given by the Lord to keep our sexuality just for the Lord. It takes great grace to love this vocation.
