I am the definition of a silent follower - in fact this might be my first comment ever, but! I’m here to say that my kiddos are similar spacing to yours, and we have the same stroller. We ended up getting the ride along kickboard for our toddler and it is the BEST. She honestly hardly ever sat in her seat, just wanted to ride. And it saved having to pack all the seats and attachments when going on short trips, because the ride along board just folds up and stays attached. Anyways - I couldn’t help but mention it! 😊

I have a niece due in June and I have found so many cute clothes in the boys’ section. In one of my big supermarkets, I saw a whole load of dog print clothing and toys, which were all labelled as being for boys, even the stuffed animal/blanket! My sis and brother in law have a dog so that was the obvious theme ( along with suns/clouds/rainbows). I love to buy an outfit that is for 1 year old or 18 months as everyone seems to go for newborn to 6 or maybe 9 months then nothing else!

As you go through the boxes of baby stuff from Grace, it might be nice to set aside some things that the new baby WON'T wear/use, (and maybe ruin), in a separate bin to save for grownup Grace. Not a ton, but like a favorite toy, a couple outfits every year. My parents did this for me, and it is SO AMAZING to see my kids and my siblings' kids wearing and playing with the things that I had as a baby/kid.

My mom al;ways made it a point that me and my brothers understood that we did not have to wear any of the handmedowns if we did not want them so it makes me smile to hear you say you want to do the same with your little one. (my mom was born in the early 70s but had to wear her siblings clothes from the 60s and got bullied for that at school so she swore that she would not force her kids to live through that x3 )

I’m 5 weeks with my first and I’m 37. I have my first prenatal visit tomorrow and I’ve been around babies all my life. I teach middle school so you’d think that I wouldn’t be freaking out but I am. 😂 I see all the baby stuff online and in stores and am completely overwhelmed by it all.

Oh, I am so glad the battery operated mat worked for you! To be sure the batteries do not age out and spill out that acid yuck, remove them before storing. So fun to remember outfits on Grace and to imagine them on your new sweetie! For stain removal use OXICLEAN STAIN SPRAY. Heavily spray on the stain and toss in your hamper, double check after the item is washed, but usually no second spray/wash required!

I loved the velcro swaddles with my first but those love to dream/swaddle up were my fave for the rest. My husband called them flying squirrels. Mine all were close to one when they stopped using them (they have bigger sizes) they slept so much better. With the swaddle up they could move their arms to roll but didn't startle awake.

Some of the best advice I got before I had my second is to not take the firstborns reaction personally. This is a huge change for them and some kids just are obsessed with their new sibling, some are meh not positive or negative, and some have a hard start. It is not a sign of their relationship when they're older, it's not a sign that your oldest is a sociopath (mostly joking) it just takes some time sometimes. My firstborn was meh about her brother, not mean in any way but not excited. Now he giggles at everything she does and she loves it lol.

So much fun getting things ready for baby My son and Grace are just a couple weeks apart he was born June 10th 2021 He was actually doing July so he and Grace we're due I think about five six weeks apart if I'm remembering right but anyways we're also expecting baby number two but not until August and this time we're having a girl it's fun seeing you get to go through Grace's things hopefully we can reuse some of my son's stuff for baby girl but it's a lot of fun getting to buy girl things now!

Since you mentioned having a scheduled C-section date and packing your hospital bag, I was wondering, if you were to go into labor before your scheduled date, would it still be a C-section? I think you mentioned not wanting to do a VBAC

The short version is, I’ve made the plan with my doctor that if I go into spontaneous labor before my c section, I’d like to try for a vaginal birth if I’m dilated to a 4 or more and baby is head down. Otherwise, I would go in for a c section when I arrive at the hospital.

FYI if any clothes that appear stained, just wash them again and the "stain" may disappear. Baby spit-ups clean from clothes, but when you put them away for a bit, the stains reappear. No need to get rid of "stained" items ❤

Size of the baby, newborn clothes go up to around 8 lbs and 21.5 inches. So if baby is bigger in one of those areas they won't fit in newborn clothes. My first wore newborn for a week, my second never did as he was over 9 lbs and 22 in long.

As an older sister, my mom used a lot of my old clothes as hand me downs for my younger sister. But then she “felt bad she got hand me downs” so she bought her new clothes too and she always had double the clothes I had. Her dresser was bursting at the seams!! It made me feel cheated as a kid because I didn’t have as much as her. So just a word of advice since you will also have 2 girls close in age- do your best to keep their closets equalish. And as far as baby hand me downs, it’s not like Grace remembers wearing any of that stuff so I don’t think it matters when they are that young if the new baby gets new or old clothes.

The main issue with the Snoo is that if you're using it the way it's advertised then it's not a safe sleep space. A moving item is not safe for sleep ever according to AAP guidelines (only caveat to this is a carseat or stroller). Snoo says they combat this by having parents use the swaddle with the product, however, swaddling is not safe after 8 weeks or first signs of rolling (whichever comes first) as indicated by Dr. Moon from the AAP as part of a task force to combat infant sleeping deaths. I'm just sharing this information because so many companies, including Snoo, hide this information and profit off the anxiety and sleep deprivation parents go through and I also know from watching you from years that you do like to have a lot of information. All the best for you and excited for you to meet your second little girl soon. No judgment with my comment- just presenting information. 💙
