Sir, this is truly exceptional content you are putting out. Never mind that your KZbin chops are in addition to your playing skills, which are also top notch. You’re making this very difficult music accessible and fun for a lot of people here. Thank you so much for what you’re doing!

Thanks for that lovely comment Kevin! As I often say to my Patrons as well: each time I finish I video I think "Isn't this too long? 15 minute lessons on 8 bars of music?". But apparently, that is exactly what people are looking for (or need) when they are trying to figure out this highly technical style. And I'm more than happy to provide the service!

My favorite Tommy Song. When I first heard it a few years ago, my head basically exploded and never had I wanted to learn a song as much. One of his easier tunes to nail down for sure although it took some practice to comfortably do the rapidly arpeggiated stretch in the higher frets. Great job here Tim and Happy New Year.

Well played, Sir! Anyone that can do a tommy arrangement justice cleanly has my vote. Your video on the gentle playing tips are right on point also, been working on this style for many years and it just doesn't sound right unless amplified right up and played gently. Then the guitar really begins to sing back to you :) a problem unplugged of course with a super low action etc, but i have found a reasonable enough clean setting in the wazza air phones to take care of that at the antisocial hour :)

Excellent cover! looking forward to learning the song! Might I suggest making playlists for your tutorials based on; "easy", "intermediate", and "hard"? Would be nice to identify which songs that might be easier to learn than others quickly.

Hi Daniel! That is a good idea, I'll look into it. I'm having a website built at the moment where the difficulty rating is one of the most important parts (ranked in terms of tempo, chords and techniques used).

Hi Tim! I wondered, how you got to playing a mayson guitar, since it is a brand you don‘t come across very often. Sounds great though would you say it is suited especially for your style of playing? I just recently found your channel and enjoy your arrangements and tutorials a lot! It does take time, but your teaching style makes it a fun challenge.

Hi Simon! I learned about Mayson Guitars after being asked to demo them in a chain of stores a few years back. It’s a really young brand and was working hard making a name for itself but, being a Chinese company, they took quite a hit during Covid. This guitar became my favourite acoustic because of the maple back and sides. They add a bit of high end which allows you to play a little lighter without losing too much top end.
@daurye922 жыл бұрын
@@TimVanRoy Yes I had never heard of the brand before, but it comes across very well and balanced via your microphones indeed. There are many examples, that the Chinese can make some outstanding instruments. I especially like the little ideas and details like the very sturdy looking open tuners on some of their models. I wont be able to afford the M7 unfortunately, but I will look into the M1 or M3 for sure. Thanks!
@TimVanRoy2 жыл бұрын
@@daurye92 I think you'll be surprised by their price to quality ratio. I used to walk in, pick up any guitar to warm up and then try to guess the price range. More often than not, I judged the guitar to be much more expensive than it really was!
