Wait... you're telling me anime ISN'T (quite) a Japanese colloquialism that comes from shortening the word 'animation'??

The fact that you used this update video about making shorter videos as a platform to showcase one of your shorter videos is very smart. Looking forward to that type of content or, really, just anything you choose to make.

while i do love the "big polished XXL videos" i feel like this is a worthy trade-off as well as a nice change of pace for this channel. I mean shorter but more consistent content seems to be working better for a lotta yters anyway. But i do hope the the bigger videos dont go away completly.

If such anime about Mushi Pro happens would love to have Tomino be a giant weirdo who shows up in Mushi during a later arc and him being just...TOMINO. LIKE HAVE HIM LITERALLY SAY TO SOMEONE "ALL OLD PEOPLE SHOULD JUST DIE SO THAT POPULATION WOULD DECREASE AND SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT OF THE PLANET" which he was SO FAMOUS FOR SAYING IT ALL THE TIME that characters like Master Asia and the Drinking Professor from Combattler V ended up being based on him....

Its always interesting to see how creators dont understand how much its public love their work, they seem to operate under the logic of "number of people that are interested in my craft" instead of "how much are these people interested in my craft" and that often results in creators undervalueing/underselling/underestimating (i dont know, english is not my first language) their creations. I hope this little comment helps to change that view if you think that (maybe is not the case, but i interpreted some of the things you said in this video as such), because I like many others enjoy a lot from your content. I probably dont like every video, but I really love the ones that i like. Saludos y me alegra que vuelvas a publicar videos!

I don't want to sound arrogant, but are we sure that is an accurate translation of what was said? Every reliable source I found states that the word "anime" was coined in the late 70s, and became the standard word to indicate animation of any kind in the 80s. Before that animated movies were called "manga eiga", while tv anime was called "terebi manga". I listened to the quote in Japanese a bunch of time, and honestly it didn't sound like the word "anime" was clearly being used alone.
@CaribouCoon
@CaribouCoon 3 жыл бұрын
Well you can either take Gisaburo Sugii's word for it or not, but I'm pretty sure the quote in romaji is "animeshon ja nakkutte, anime desukara" which sounds like "it's not animation, it's anime" to me. Also this isn't merely my translation but was the translation that was on the rip I had of this doc. But you should definitely watch CynicClinic's video because he literally mentions what you're talking about with terebii manga, that IS in fact what they called it lol

@@CaribouCoon I just finished watching it. It seems like he confirmed that the term "anime" came to be used in the late 70s, so it seems weird that Tezuka would use it back in 1963.

I would love shorter videos, not to detract from any longer videos per se but longer videos are a much larger time commitment. Personally I would love anything from 8-20 minutes of video bi-weekly?
