This plugin has been so fun for sound design experiments! It's really unique and intuitive. Great video too!

Hey Dash, long time no see. Hope you are good. Yeah totally rocking this plugin. Super fun and quick to work with. Btw. We got to setup that collab sometime soon. 😄🤘 Thanks 🥁

It reminds me, in essence, of the Simmons SDS7 and SDX.

Oh ok, cool! That’s some vintage stuff right there. 😋 Never used the Simmons though. We had some Roland and Alesis drum modules back in the day.

@@MattiasHolmgren It's the mix of digital samples and analogue synthesis that I am drawing the comparison to. This is the 2024 version of that, IMO.

hi, thanks for the great video. Wondering how can I record the sound from ViSCO on my DAW, which is Cubase?
@MattiasHolmgren4 ай бұрын
You can bounce the audio or… Recording VST audio to another track in Cubase involves routing the audio from a VST instrument or effect to an audio track. Here’s a step-by-step guide: 1. **Create Your VST Instrument Track:** - Open Cubase and create a new project or open an existing one. - Go to `Project` > `Add Track` > `Instrument` and select your desired VST instrument. - Record or program the MIDI data on this track if it’s not already done. 2. **Create an Audio Track:** - Go to `Project` > `Add Track` > `Audio`. - Choose the appropriate settings (mono or stereo) based on your VST output. 3. **Route the VST Output to the Audio Track:** - Open the Mixer (F3) or go to the Inspector for your VST Instrument track. - Look for the `Sends` section in the VST instrument track. - Add a send and select a new Group Track or a specific Bus (if it’s stereo, select a stereo bus). 4. **Create and Set Up a Group Track:** - If you used a Group Track, create one by going to `Project` > `Add Track` > `Group Track`. - In the `Sends` section of your VST Instrument track, route it to this Group Track. 5. **Route the Group Track to the Audio Track:** - Go to the Inspector for your Group Track. - Set the output of the Group Track to the Audio Track you created earlier. 6. **Enable Monitoring and Record:** - On the Audio Track, enable monitoring by clicking the monitor button (a small speaker icon). - Arm the Audio Track for recording by clicking the record enable button (a small red circle). - Start recording in Cubase (by pressing the record button in the transport panel). 7. **Record the VST Output:** - As Cubase records, it will capture the audio output from the VST instrument on the Audio Track. 8. **Playback and Check:** - Stop the recording and disable monitoring on the Audio Track. - Play back the recorded audio to ensure it captured the VST instrument correctly. ### Additional Tips: - **Latency and Monitoring:** Be aware of latency settings to ensure there’s no delay in the recorded audio. - **Effects and Automation:** Any effects or automation applied to the VST track will also be recorded. Make sure your settings are as desired before recording. - **Exporting:** If you need a final mixdown, you can use the `Export` function to bounce all tracks, including the recorded audio, to a single audio file. By following these steps, you should be able to successfully record the audio output from a VST instrument to another track in Cubase.

I think u can do this for ages with IL Harmor, except the morph thing..
@MattiasHolmgren6 ай бұрын
yes there are multiple other resynthesis plugins that converts audio files into sine waves, Alchemy, Harmor, Icarus etc. But it's indeed the realtime morphing, twisting and turning the sound as it plays which I think is kinda unique and really makes the goosebumps for a sound designer nerd. ;)

I noticed that you have the new Nektar CS12. I. know it's designed to work natively with Logic Pro, but can it be mapped to other daws? have you tried to use it with Bitwig yet?
@MattiasHolmgren7 ай бұрын
Oh yeah I’m full on working on the new Bitwig Ambient Music course which will launch early access very soon. I haven’t had time yet to check CS12 with Bitwig, but I’ll give it a go as soon as I tuck my youngest kid Alexander to sleep. 😄🤘☕️🥁
@MattiasHolmgren7 ай бұрын
Hi again, unfortunately the CS12 doesn't even wake up when I select it as a "controller" within Bitwig or any other DAW than Logic Pro. It seems at it's current firmware it's Logic Pro only....and that's also how it is marketed. It's not intended for other DAW's. It's specifically designed for Logic. Which is a great thing IMO, I always wanted something solid to control Logic with. And this is it!.... that said, it would have been great at least to be able to use the knobs for general CC, and the transport buttons. ;) And maybe the volume fader. hehe... We'll see what happens.

can do all of that with sample grouping in ableton and switching inbetween them with velocity automations. nobody needs this thing

Well, Not nearly the same as morphing though. 🤷♂️😄
@Kahlertmusic7 ай бұрын
@@MattiasHolmgren exactly the same.
@MattiasHolmgren7 ай бұрын
Lol, not so much. This is sound resynthesis, it rebuilds the sounds with sinewaves. And reversing / inversing the sound algorithm ”mid playback”. Not possible with Ableton default devices. 🤷♂️😂 I’m by no means trying to defend the company, just my objective observation on how this plugins works, and what’s possible. Though I might be wrong, but as far as I know, Ableton does not have a resynthesising tool converting audio sample to sinewaves. Fl studio has Harmor, Logic has Alchemy. 🦊
