How fun it has been to visit with y’all every day this month. I can’t imagine how much energy it took to create all that content. Y’all have inspired me to put a book by Annie Jacobsen (Operation Paperclip is the only one available) on reserve at my library, begin reading my only David McCollough book (1776) *and* make plans to participate in the DM read-a-thon for the next couple of years. Thanks so much!

Thank you so very much and yes, it was a lot of effort and editing and me yelling at my computer because the video editor doesn't always work. LOL It was a good challenge but now I need to get back to all of my house chores; painting, cleaning, decluttering, organizing, etc. And more time to read. I'd love to hear what you think of both of the books you mentioned when you read them. 🤗📚

gasp, oh no. Do you remember which book it was? How do you not get the books wet when you read in the tub?

Hi, hello and easy questions this time! I don't dog ear since I rarely (if ever) read physical books. Sometimes I'll highlight something funny for Goodreads but I don't really annotate besides that. I always LOVED the sound of cracking a book spine lol is that weird?? But nowadays there's no cracking with the Kindle. I have to have some kind of noise when reading, be it ambient noise on TV or my sleep sounds in bed. I don't read in the bathroom either! I used to read in the bath lol but those days are long gone now that I'm too tall for these little tubs I have DNFed a few over the years but nowadays I just stick it out. I hate spoilers and never skip to the end lol. And one book at a time! I definitely don't have more books than space either and have never borrowed from the Little Library, but I do love checking them out to see what the neighbors are reading Great questions and what a great month of videos! Thanks again for keeping us entertained all month and take care

Now I'm very curious to hear what a book spine cracking sounds like. My husband is like you, he likes ambient noise. I'm the opposite. I want to be able to hear myself think. I have an awesome bath tub. The man who built this house was a big man. LOL Can you decipher which neighbors are leaving which books at your local Little Free Library? Glad you enjoyed the month of videos. now I have to get serious about tackling all of my chores. LOL Today was pressure washing and my arm hurts from starting the stupid thing. yesterday, no probablem, today, it kept pulling back. Not nice. Is it good that you stick it out with the books instead of dnf? I've never regretted my hard dnf's.

Thanks for agreeing with me on the sometimes necessity of cracking the spine if a book! I don't know how the publishers overlook the margins being printed in the gutters!
@BookZealots2 ай бұрын
Absolutely. I'm guessing the publishers are saving a ton of money by having less margin space. ?? Plus, books are to be read and if I have a book that's too special to read, (not counting family heirloom), why have them? I used to carry books with me as a child so I could read in the car. I can only imagine what they looked like by the time my mom passed them on. If they looked anything like my stuffed dog I also carried around, they were pretty well loved. LOL

@@BookZealots I got most of my books from the library as a child, so I tried to be careful with the books. That didn't stop me from dog-earing the pages though! In my defense, the books had previously been dog-eared.

@@lindseyreads5450 Wasn't dog earring library books as a child common place? I wonder if it still is today? I think "rules" for adults are different for children, though we don't want children to scribble in books, it's perfectly acceptable to annotate as an adult. Dog earring as a child is acceptable but no longer for adults? Hilarious, isn't it?

I think I’m in the minority but I don’t think it’s necessary to leave a book from a little free library in order to take a book.
@BookZealots2 ай бұрын
Your boxes don't have a sign saying , leave one take one? I agree with you. I think for people who need the books, they shouldn't have to leave one. They might not have a book to leave. Also, I think the box owners put the sign so people don't take the great conditioned books and then sell them somewhere else. I don't like that people do things like that. =/
@angieandthegreatworld2 ай бұрын
@@BookZealots I’ve seen the sign on a box or two. What has happened to me is that I’ve come across LFLs unexpectedly and always at times when I don’t have any books on me. I definitely agree with you that a person (a child) might not have anything to give in exchange. Had LFLs been around when I was a kid, I wouldn’t have had books to leave. My parents didn’t have much money so buying a book was a rare treat & what few books I had, I guarded with my life. I think it’s good to be courteous and leave a book when or if you can. And I also think it’s unethical for people to scour LFLs if their only purpose is to resell the books they find.
@BookZealots2 ай бұрын
@@angieandthegreatworld Yeah, I think there are exceptions. Like you, we didn't have a lot of money either and by the time I was 10, I had to buy my own books. So I would hustle and get jobs to pay for those scholastic book catalogues. Budgeting and choosing/prioritizing. =) In my poor town i wouldn't say anything if an adult took one or three books from the LFL without putting something back. I would definitely say something if they were cleaning it out. LOL I'd be happy to see adults in this area wanting to read. =)

I have read laying in the bathtub. I listen to a fan. I have my fan going 24-7. I like to read outside in my swing but it’s too hot now. Someone dumped 5 roosters on my property. I can’t catch them. I’m so afraid the coyotes, owls, hawks or their predators are gonna get them. They are staying up in the woods. I have jumped to the end if I’m just over reading the book but want to see the ending. I read many books at a time. I don’t dog ear or annotate. I would like to highlight especially the Robert e lee book I’m reading. I don’t have a problem either dnf’ing a book. On mass market books a lot of the time you have to break the spines. I don’t buy mass market unless it’s at a used bookstore. I have books everywhere that’s why I’m organizing. I need a couple more bookshelves. I’ve taken books from a little free library but there is only one near me. I have put books without taking any.
