I actually love it to be here listening to Rachel lessons for the improvement of English Skills. Once again Rachel you’re one of the most amazing and extraordinary teacher I’ve ever seen. But what I found so interesting in the process of improving oneself is to Know Way More Than You Are Saying and also To Just Speak It Out The Way You Can Say It. So I think those are the basic ways to look towards it.

The other thing that may be holding some students back is that they may have never taken English courses before or had lesser opportunites than the other students in their countries. Some foreign students may have gone to expensive private school where they may have taken some basic English lessons, and for others, they may come from rural towns where English was never taught. That is what makes a huge difference too.

Hey guys! Can you help me make out something here? I did a test today and there was this sentence: "I'm so tired. I think, I will / am going to take a nap. The correct option is "I will" The general rule states we use will when we talk about predictions based on our personal opinion and assumptions and it's not substantiated by common sense facts: "I think, I'll get the raise next year." Returning to the first example there's a little problem. On the one hand we got an introduction "I think" which expresseses our personal opinion but on the other hand there is a clear signal the future action is likely to happen - "I'm so tired" And yet the correct answer is "I will". So following this logic is it fair to say we're supposed to use "I will" followed by "I think" even thought there's a good chance the action is gonna happen in the future, right? (ACCORDING TO THE GENERAL GRAMMATICAL RULE) "Look! It feels like this guy's falling asleep. I think, he will fall off his chair." And there was also this sentence: "We (have) lunch at 12.30 pm." I was pretty damn sure it's "We're having lunch at 12.30pm" as we got a fixed arrangement here. But the correct answer eventually turned out to be "We have lunch at 12.30 pm" How so??? Geez, this stuff is so messed up😵💫
@rachelsenglish Жыл бұрын
Great questions! "Be going to" and "will" are both used to express future. There is no difference in meaning between the two. As for simple present, "We have lunch at 12:30pm," it can be used for future but it also expresses a habit or routine that occurs regularly. "When do you usually have lunch? We have lunch at 12:30pm." Versus, "When [are you going to/will you] have lunch (today/tomorrow/next week)? [We're having/We'll have lunch at 12:30pm.]
