A profound message, simply put. I am from Sri Lanka. Currently the country is bankrupt. Prices of food , sky rocketed. Daily power cuts cos we cannot buy oil to operate the grids. But I have adjusted to what is, and light a candle when elec is cut. We share what we can with those who dont have. But i still love living here bcos its still a beautiful country and the simple people are still very hospitable with the little they have. This is a marvellous message. Love it.

I agree with that wisdom and try to live by it. I heard it in a metaphor: Happy people are dancing around, giving the world their energy and love. From time to time some of them need to sit down and cry, work through something and the others keep the flow going, so that those sad ones may join in when they are ready again. And these roles change. We always need some people to keep the happiness in the world so that we do not forget about it.

I didn’t see you’re back! What surprise to wake to. The family is asleep. Let’s have a nice morning together. And the quote… sometimes need to remember. Our family loves to adventure. “The next Roberts Family adventure…” our saying. However, when major adventures aren’t happening I find my feeling bad about that even though I’m still happy in the day to day adventure. It’s ok to be happy with the day to day to Liz. Remember that.

I quit my job before retirement age and I've never been more content. Spending less and going less are small sacrifices to make in exchange for being this happy; I enjoy making do with what I have and what I can grow with my own hands. There's sometimes a thought that maybe this is really how we were meant to live.

Well said Laura. My husband and I too, live a quiet and simple life. We much rather enjoy the simplicity with less. It is so much more fulfilling than the busy working life we are no longer burdened by. It takes contentment in everything you do have to realize fancy possessions are not what makes our life grand. ❤
@pippas58082 жыл бұрын
"No amount of us feeling bad is going to make somebody else feel good." That is so important to remember. And sometimes, us feeling good can make someone else feel better. When I have been going through difficult times in my own life, it has lightened the darkness a little to hear of good things that have come to someone else. And when my husband & I got married in summer 2020, we had random strangers telling us 'it's cheered us up to see a wedding happening - we need more good news'. So feeling guilty about your own happiness doesn't just spoil the joy for yourself, it also potentially robs other people of the chance to feel a bit better!

David, I’m not sure those voices are telling us to feel guilty. Rather, they are telling us to be grateful for what we have, and to help those that need it whenever we can. We shouldn’t feel guilty for the sins of the past, but we should learn from them, instead of repeating them.

oh my thrilled to see you are back online sharing with us again your wonderful life, such a precious little girl who will grow up with your simple lifestyle.. ,from Calgary Canada, I spent most of our summer in the garden, and was saying so few bees, we had large bumble bees in abudance. By August my gardening became difficult with a lot of summer heat, so I let it slide, stopped pressuring myself to get vegetable planted, and enjoyed the few we did have. Gave to our community garden 3 fruit trees I had not yet planted. There is always next growing season to enjoy! One day I will bake your soda bread with my 9 yr old grandson who lives with me.. a project I am looking forward to do with him. Enjoy your autumn exploring with your new little fairy!!

Ohhhh Niamh, I don't know where to begin. Everything you shared is so lovely and wise. Your little fairy is absolutely adorable and so blessed to have you for a mother. There was a time I would hear someone's sorrow, than go home and find that I was still carrying the pain they were feeling. I then learned to listen with compassion, and remind myself to send them love and light, but to let the issue go, and not take on their burdens as my own. That's called loving our"self". Thank you for this beautiful sharing. I hope you named your tiny gem, "Fairy"...hehehe.....lots of love to all three of you!🍂💕

"Your little fairy is so blessed to have you for a mother." Absolutely. If I had kids I'd want to raise them like this, going out to the garden/forest every day and seeing new sights, and learning how to live in a sustainable and nature-friendly way.

I was an infant in the mid 1960s, so there was little knowledge of organic food, the impacts of waste, or being in nature -- those were all hippie things. But we were lucky to have 30 fruit trees in our suburban yard, and my mom grew "everything" in her garden. I didn't participate in the gardening, which maybe I should have done. But that, and the plain food she cooked, with lots of vegetables and especially salads with lots of ingredients, left a nasting impression on me, so I eventually started a small garden in pots and began cooking more. At first my garden was herbs, then I started adding flowers to have something to look at, and now it's mostly flowers. It was surprising to learn that even flowers have a major benefit for the ecosystem, and you don't have to look for a few "pollenator" flowers because all flowers are pollenators, and most of what we eat depends on flowering plants even if we don't eat the flowers or their leaves themselves.

You're giving her so many wonderful experiences just by doing your daily routines with her. My dad was the gardener in the family. He let me help as a young child, and I remember some of those times with him. Gardening is my favourite hobby. He has been gone for many years but always feels close to me when I'm in the garden. Your little one will remember these days too🩷

Growing up, my poor mother was never happy nor at peace. I felt I could never have success or happiness as that might hurt her further. However, I learned to relish my own inner peace and quietly enjoy gratitude that I could see beauty and hope. When my own children came along, I wanted them to feel they could honor all their feelings, but especially joy as that is so abundant and expansive. They laugh easily, tell me hard things, and are sensitive to others out of the overflow of their own self-awareness and acceptance. It is a lovely thing to witness healing across the generations. Your presence and intentionality in enjoying life is the greatest gift you can offer to yourself and your family. Thank you for a lovely Sunday morning meditation. (P.S. have you made apple butter? I use my slow cooker on low and add cardamom.)

I loved seeing your daughter playing with jam jar tops, a great toy. When we were little we loved nothing better than playing with large cardboard boxes. We would make them into forts or boats or space ships or whatever took our fancy. I love when kids can use their own imagination and feel that modern day parents buy far too much for their children like ready made little houses, play kitchens etc. Far better to let the children make them, that's half the fun.

What an absolute treat to hear you speak on your recent emotional findings. It’s like listening to a good friend. Between motherhood and the past couple of years, I, too, feel a greater desire to embrace my joy. Over the course of 8 years, I’ve heard my fair share of people wondering when I’ll go back to work as if the job of a parent isn’t satisfactory. My mother was a SAHM mom, and I honestly never saw myself in similar shoes. I always thought I’d go take on a paid job, and now I find I have zero desire. I really enjoying homeschooling and recognize the great privilege I have that I can afford the chance. This is what makes me happy. I really think it’s important that we all honor that inner voice… whether you choose to work or not to work, thrift the plastic toys vs buying the eco friendly toys, homeschool vs public school. We all could certainly take a break, and just make peace with our inner voices and boundaries. ♥️ thanks loads for this video. It was very therapeutic. And might I argue, your insights are even more profound these days. 🙏 ✨

I think it’s important to remember that everyone has days or times when they aren’t ok, but there are good days too. I try to spend a few moments each night thinking back on my day, giving thanks for the good things, just accepting those that weren’t, and acknowledging wherever I have been at fault. I can then ‘park’ the day & sleep, for tomorrow is a whole new day.

I lost my happiness during the pandemic and had to work hard to get it back - weekly therapy, breathing exercises, lifestyle and diet changes. It was a lot. And now that I have my happiness back, I am so much more protective of it. I still check the headlines of a reputable news source so I know what's going on the world, but for me there is no more TV news that is sensationalized to play on my fears and sadness. I put my happiness ahead of most things these days to keep myself feeling like myself. My family needs that from me. On a lighter note, I love seeing your little one in these videos. She is at my very favorite age - when they are sitting upright on the floor and look like a little pumpkin ready to be picked from the patch. What a doll. And on a totally superficial note, your bangs look super cute! They really suit you! :-)

Such a different attitude now from when I was growing up after WWII. Back then the emphasis was on empathy, compassion for others, because everyone was reeling from the horror of the atom bomb. Now though, the emphasis is on self, making sure one’s self is cared for, that one’s self is happy etc. so foreign to, this emphasis on self, and at 75, I am sure I will never feel comfortable with it, or think it is valid.

How beautiful! But talk a LOT to your little fairy, so she grows up with your lovely accent instead of a Disney Channel voice. I'm so glad you are back on KZbin with your peaceful and beautiful videos. ❤️

It is so great to see you and your little family growing; I love how you call your daughter your little 🧚♀️, she is so very adorable! I am a mother and Oma and I teared up as you walked around picking apples with your little one; something I did with my 30+ year old sons many years ago, I miss those days. I am very grateful for you, I have always loved your calm, peaceful, real life. Thank you ❤️

It's a great reminder that it's okay to feel good, especially during these trying times in our world. No need to shoulder all of the world's troubles or feel guilty because we are presently feeling peace, calm, and happiness in our own lives. Your Little Fairy is a blessing in your life, teaching you how to be present, to look in wonder at the world through her eyes as she experiences it. The trees, birds, mushrooms, clouds, rain, and sunshine; playing with her tin lids, puzzles; or simply listening to a bedtime story. "Slow down to the speed of wisdom"--Mary Pipher, Ph.D. is one of my favorite mantras to live by. Thanks for sharing your October in Fairyland with your Little Fairy in tow. Jenny USA 👨👩👦🌳🥀🐛🦋🐝🐦🌦🌈

The other day I stood in the sunshine for half an hour and picked blackberries. Then I was blessed with some apples. So today I am experimenting with making apple and black berry jam in the slow cooker. Feeling very quiet and still, as a Sunday should be.
