The first thing that crossed my mind when you said 'wrestle with God' was, "at least it isn't wrestling AGAINST God, but WITH God." It' becomes a two-way thing instead. And now that I think on it, God must want us to wrestle with Him at times. kind of like when you are having a debate with someone. You are not accusing or trying to shut and trample him/she down. But an exchange of words, and ideas, and views. "I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved." Habakkuk 2:1

Jordan doesn’t view God as something else. Jordan views God as everything. When you refer to God as “he”, “she”, or “him”, it implies that God is seperate. As if you are here and God is over there. God is everything. Everything is within God’s kingdom, you, me, the sun, the stars, the air we breathe, good AND evil, everything. Try replacing the words “he” or “him” with the word God when you refer to God. Because God is all and nothing less.

"Come, let us reason together, saith the Lord..." Isaiah 1:18. God wants you to ask questions. He also wants you to have faith. When you take your questions to God, He will help you find that line between what He will help you learn now, and what will require faith for you to learn properly. Nonetheless, honest struggling, questioning, even anger... God welcomes the sincere questions.

It interesting that although slavery is not explicitly condemned in the Christian Scriptures, "Onesimus" appears in two New Testament epistles-in Colossians 4 and in Philemon. I. Onesimus was the slave of Philemon who had wronged him in some way or another and who then decided to flee. He met the Apostle Paul in prison in Rome, where Paul converted him to Christianity and then sent him back to his owner. But the Apostle Paul said for Philemon to accept Onesimus as a brother not a slave. Although slavery is not explicitly condemned. The Christian Scriptures certainly show a precedent for freedom from slavery.

As I’m thinking about this, is this you, JP? Could this be your story here? Your journey has taken a great amount of faith and courage on your part, no? You have been faithful on many accounts. This walk is not for the faint of heart and you’ve managed it so far. God has honored you for your times of courage. He has given you insight into His word that most ministers don’t have and you haven’t taken this lightly. In this you’ve found favor with Him. He came to you in your living room decades ago as if to say, ‘Here’s a glimpse of the Promised Land I have for you. It’s unknown to you but I will be with you if you choose to follow Me.’ And what happened…you feared: ‘How can I function like this? What will people walking down the street think of me? What will come of my reputation like this?’ You saw the giants, so it was not your time. And so God withdrew His presence and for the next several decades you wandered in a desert of pure Hell. But then your time had come (Ezekiel 16.8) God is not finished with you and I believe it’s because, indeed, your heart is good and longs for Him, for agape love, for truth, for faith is the purpose of a higher calling. And so ‘He works all things together for good to them who love God and are called according to His purpose.’ (Romans 8.28) That’s you, dear Professor. And I believe that you are standing at the entrance now (though I pray you’ve entered in) but I’m worried for you (my neurotic self perhaps) - that you care more about your intellectual colleagues chiding you about faith. However, I’ve noticed how your true atheist/agnostic friends all accept you and agree that your view is viable and are pleasantly surprised by your depth of understanding. It’s the ones who aren’t open or capable of accepting different view points that cleverly put Christians down, much like Cain, in their oh-so-dismal atheistic condemnation. Why worry about these? Are they not faithless and not even your friends? Don’t let them keep you out of the Promised Land recurrently. Search within yourself and see how you might shift your being from Israel to Joshua, his report is better: “Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” (Joshua 1.9) God is never stagnant. We must ‘goest’. We will not move forward if we remain in guilt (condemnation is satanic) or doubt (wrestling continually never able to come to the understanding of Christ). The longer you wrestle, even though it may be necessary and of some good, the longer you will wander and make no progress. Jacob made no forward progress while he wrestled with God. It was the event that gave him direction and purpose, yes, but he did not advance on the outside (in the physical realm) until he had finished his wrestling on the inside (spiritual realm). Everything in the kingdom of God starts on the inside and works its way to the outside. I can see His countenance on your face and your expressions. They are far different from just five years ago. You talk about the expression of naive-to-monster and I see this somewhat, as you’ve been mistreated verbally so your expressions toughened up. But the countenance I’m referring to is from God, it’s brighter, not naive but a palpable expression that’s kind and not dark. Perhaps you understand, or will come to understand - I think you’ve mentioned it with some of your friends by saying ‘a kind soul’ or something of the like, just by their countenance. God’s light is dawning in your eyes and your expression. From the deepest depths of the heart to the brightest shining light for all to see; don’t let anyone, even yourself, steal this glory from God which will be shone through you. He is striving with you because you are His son and He loves you. Don’t test Him by striving without making progress, willfully staying in the desert because of fear, guilt or concern over the opinions of men. It will be the worst day to leave you in the heat of the desert; please, shed fear and advance out of the desert. Learn to dance with God, not strive against Him. If there is any fear in you, let it be of God, healthy and reverent and believing in His word. ‘My Spirit will not strive with men forever.” Advance. It is imperative. He will be with you. (A note: Be careful that you aren’t wrestling with demons. You went quite far into evil phenomena without the protection of the blood of Christ (what Caviezel was explaining to you), so it’s very possible you were exposed. If you find yourself growing in anger concerning Christ, it very well could be demonic. The Spirit of God can deliver and heal the mind, this is after all, the battlefield of Satan. God can and will heal you, all you need to do is ask Him to - you may need someone to pray in agreement with you. The blood of Christ cleanses all aspects of the human condition and casts out all evil. Pay attention to how this particular truth makes you feel. Are you comforted by the power of the blood of Christ, or does it make you uncomfortable and angry to think about it? If there are aspects of Jesus that irritate and ultimately anger you, or you find yourself contemptuous toward Christ, it could be demonic. Do you have anyone talking with you about these things?)

"You think with speech", great line Dr. Peterson -- this is oh so critical, and people refuse to grant the deserved value. For faith people, how often are you told not to gossip, because this is harmful and it's also often talking without thinking. This is in contrast to God creating everything by speaking it into existence. So in between is where we should operate, speech forces someone to organize their thoughts, create a pattern of words for someone to digest the thought. So you say things out loud and your spouse tells you, 'hmmm, pretty stupid'... so you try again and again, and work it through. So ultimately free speech is an environment where others can tell you you're wrong -- and maybe that's debate. So you have to be willing to "offend" someone else, as you are will become "offended". And if you haven't figured this part out, but that's pretty much Wrestling with God (except He never gets offended).

I noticed you will be coming to Charlotte for your, We who wrestle with God tour. I enjoy your conservative values and with a 16 year old son who is Caucasian, i want him to be prepared to speak with confidence in a society that is taught white men are the enemy. As a blue collar war veteran who is disabled, I am not necessarily the best example for my son so i purchase books from men who I find to be suitable models. I have purchased your books and he has read some and relays the text is challenging but if he takes his time, he can digest it in small pieces. When i saw the tour was coming close to our hometown, it immediately peaked my interest since he is currently reading 12 rules. Is this video moreso how the tour is and the topics of conversation? I suppose i am asking if the tour concepts would be too deep for a 16 year old to comprehend? Or, is this geared more towards professors, pastors, and seasoned conservatives? Respectfully

Agency, aka free will, is an essential gift from God. If we are forced to choose Him, then it completely makes His plan null and void, and removes the need for a Savior. That's why we had to fall, that's why we have to be free and fight for freedom. That's why we wrestle, so we can choose Him. :)

@GunterZochbauer
@GunterZochbauer 16 күн бұрын
Believing in God is not the right way to put it in my opinion. You should accept that God exists. If you understand what God is, it's not a question of believing. God is not a being, being is God. There is no need to believe in being. Your existence is proof enough. The Bible is just the collected wisdom about how to conduct your life to get a life worth living. It's a description of what smart people observed and found to be working well. You can either try to figure it out all by yourself (one lifetime is way too short to accomplish that) or you can trust that they knew what they were talking about and adopt their ways.

The Genius of Cain. A strong suggestion of our Biblical IQ is indicated by our appraisal of Cain. If we would believe anything about Adam The Namer we must first believe he was real and that he got his message out even through the misty Labyrinth of Time. Now Cain, by virtue of receiving the inculcation of the firstborn, and being the second direct (victim) of The Serpent, was naturally well positioned to understand almost everything. And this is understood by his Naming of his firstborn, Enoch. This is a vital clue to The Mystery of The Antediluvian World and it's relevance today. For, the ensuing drama of those generations revolve around that name! And even after the translation of Enoch of Jared, his inspiration led Lamech to design the second most important name among the world of men: Noah. The respective devices being oriented to young boys. But the influence of Eve's first spirit (the one before she became an indispensable heroine in the development of the inculcation of Enoch, something we may infer because the inculcation could scarcely have succeeded without such support) is being impressed mightily upon the sons of Adam in this generation, such that no detectable desire or application to apprehend Enoch can be found, unless we count The Book of Enoch, which represents a wretched attempt to divine his testimony through excessive appeal to the supernatural. But logic demands no such appeal is warranted until absolutely necessary. Then all such appeals must be examined as a group for cogency. The resulting model does not allow for The Book of Enoch. But we can appreciate the frustrated madness that insufficient rigor will bring to interpretation. And that spirit of Eve prefers satisfaction to rigor... It remains therefore for the sons of Adam to claim the birthright of their elemental formation by direct connection to The Ordered Earth, formed by the very hands of God The Almighty. P.S. Please hurry to do so because we, some of your little brothers, are getting killed out here. Recall that even mighty Adam was overpowered by Eve's unspoken, super concentrated, accusatory thrusting of the fruit to him. And try to extend your various otherwise wonderful powers to see that spirit behind the conflict in Europe. Remember that The Serpent was the most subtle of all the animals in the garden. I've found in my life that things become beautiful when they exist in the middle of things. I don't know how else to explain it. The sun exists in balance between gravity and fission. Your joy exists in between misery and happiness. It seems as if we were created by, or for, the clashing of good and evil, we wrestle with God not because we can. But because we have to

I love this. Sometimes my peers would talk to me about the belief I have, because I'm that one unconventional guy in the group who everybody thinks is a non-believer. They mistake me as a fence sitter. I always say no, I was never neutral. I only accept the duality of my being as both good and evil. I am aware that I am capable of despicable things that other humans can do, as I am a human myself who can commit genocide if I want to. But, I choose not to. Because I have no interest in doing harm to my fellow men. And I am good because I am aware I can be evil if I want to.

The word Israel in Hebrew is comprised by two words. ישר-אל First word is “strait” (Yashar in transliteration) Second word is god (El) In the wisdom Kabbalah “strait to god” meaning people who have their intention to god at all times, in contrary to their inherent nature which is bad (meaning opposite from god) The word Hebrew have hidden the word “passed” inside it - meaning a hebrew is someone who passes a barrier between his human nature and “gods nature” The word “Jew” have inside it hidden the word “special” because of the special connection of belonging a Jew have with god. If you notice I’m the Bible Abraham was first “a Hebrew” than later his people became Israel- so these are all spiritual states that change and get different names to describe them. I never heard nor I understand where “fighting with god” have any lingual or associative connection to the word “Israel” in Hebrew in formal Jewish writings- but I digress cause it sounds fine to have a little fight , as long as it’s a part of a living relationship with god 😇

That's just because of the nonsense we are taught about God. God is something derived from observing ourselves. It's knowledge and understanding. If you believe you exist, then there is no reason to doubt God exists. Not believing in God is like not believing in Animals while petting your cat. What it's all about is, trusting that the way the Bible describes how to conduct your life will lead to a life worth living, because to figure it out all by yourself, one lifetime is way too short and it's also stupid to make all the painful mistakes yourself when others already figured out what works and what doesn't.

Actually the name ISRAEL has several different meanings. (1) Those who RULE with God. (2) God RULES (3) God Perseveres (4) Those who WRESTLE with God (5) And several other possible ways to SPIN that. Clearly the EL part = " God. " It can also mean "THE MIGHTY ONE." As i n ELIJAH which means JAH is my MIGHTY ONE. Obviously there is some flexibility in how these Hebrew names are translated depending on (a) context and (b) other factors. But go ahead and tell the story (again) Dr. Peterson. It's called indoctrination. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKDPgmhuZ7uYhNU After all . . . what would happen if we were NOT all on the same page ?????

@@adnanleo3096 In our religion people like Abraham and Jacob are suppose to be our role models. They didn’t “wrestle” with God. When he ordered them to do something they did it without question. They trusted in God completely and had such strong faith that Abraham would even sacrifice his son for him. Someone who wrestles with God doesn’t have faith in him like Satan. “Or did you witness when death came to Jacob? He asked his children, “Who will you worship after my passing?” They replied, “We will ˹continue to˺ worship your God, the God of your forefathers-Abraham, Ishmael, and Isaac-the One God. I'm not sure I understand why Dr. Peterson insists that in order to know that slavery is wrong, you have to believe that individuals are sovereign. Because, no, you don't; the only thing you need to know in order to determine whether an action is immoral or moral is whether or not that something causes unnecessary (or perhaps unreasonable) suffering. Be it to an animal, or a human. So, eating meat, while technically not necessary it is absolutely unreasonable to expect humanity to discontinue eating meat entirely for a whole bunch of reasons that I won't get into for the sake of brevity. So, that's not immoral. Battery Farming chickens for their eggs, however, due to the egregious excess involved purely for the want of ever increasing profits, absolutely is immoral. I'm slowly coming around to the idea that maybe, just maybe, religion isn't a total dog-pile of utterly worthless rhetoric regarding the power trip of a divine megalomaniac with small man syndrome. I admit that I have been absolutely closed minded to anything other than my preconceptions up until now, however, I call BS on the whole idea that we can't know what's right or wrong without it coming from somewhere higher than us. It comes from our empathy. If I know that it hurts to be bitten, then I can extrapolate that it must hurt for others too, and so I know that it's a shitty thing to bite people, because pain is unpleasant.

What Is the Difference Between God and Nature? “It is best for us to agree and accept the words of the Kabbalists that ‘the nature’ (Heb. ‘HaTeva’ [‘הטבע’]) has the same numerical value as ‘God’ (Heb. ‘Elohim’ [‘אלהים’]-eighty-six. Then, I will be able to call the laws of God ‘nature’s commandments [Mitzvot],’ or vice-versa (God’s commandments [Mitzvot] by the name ‘nature’s laws’), for they are one and the same.” - Kabbalist Yehuda Ashlag (Baal HaSulam), “The Peace.” There is nothing besides the system of nature, which Kabbalists equally refer to as “nature” or “God,” and we are integral parts of this system. Therefore, when we say that there is one God, it means that there is nothing besides one force acting in this single system we are parts of. The desire of the single force acting in reality is to bring us into connection with it-not via coercion, but through awareness in a positive manner. As much as we understand, feel and attain this force as one that is good and benevolent, then we can adhere to it and reach its level of complete awareness.

"We take it for granted that slavery is wrong. But why we think it's wrong, is not so bloody obvious." Well, that depends on your philosophy. If you have a philosophy based on and dedicated to life as an individual human being, then slavery is wrong: Because (a) life as an individual human being requires freedom to think, to act, and to express oneself; and (b) these freedoms can only be destroyed by someone else initiating the use of physical force; which leads to (c) slavery by definition is wrong. No. God. Required.
