Say what you like about this little project, but there's a certain sweet spot in music about it. There are so many different styles here from many different generations of musician, and all of them have their own sound. To the blues, to rock, from Jazz funk to pop it really does have a sense of fun to it, which is what rock n' roll really is all about. :) Granted some of these acts haven't aged very well over time, but you couldn't make something this diverse today. The charts are all watered down crap and it wouldn't be distinctive in any way shape or form.

By the time this version was released, the Spice Girls were the biggest selling band, so it was a smart move to include them to sell more copies as this was for charity. In fact, they are the only one named in the song, all the others appear without being named. I know it may sound strange for people that did not like them but I promise you that their musical world was not little like you say.

Especially enjoying James Brown, Iggy Pop (cutting through with that nice bossa nova), and of course Jagger and Richards. Robin Williams was fun, too. I don't care much for Kid Rock, but whatever. I do find it a little curious that they chose this song for a children's cd, though. It's an awesome song, I just figured that it'd get some red flags from people due to political correctness (with lyrics about ripping out your heart and committing suicide).
